I agree.  I have been receiving these types of calls for the last 5 YEARS.  I file a complaint with the FCC and FTC every time I receive a call.  Sometimes I file complaints with the same number dozen of times.  I have talked with a lawyer and she said there is nothing they can do because the callers will never ever give them their information.  The police do not do anything.  We are held hostage by these low lives call our phones, family phones, and work.  By now my family and work know this is a scam, but it is so frustrating there is nothing else to do.  I block their numbers but somehow they get through.  I am so sick of these losers calling me about a payday loan I never applied for or received.  They are telling me I took a loan out in 2012 which is false.  I feel your frustration.

Just received a call from my brother and sister and said they both got numerous calls from John Lewis wanting to know my whereabouts. This has got to stop. I have filed complaints with the FTC and the FCC. They are also calling my cell phone my husbands cell phone and my work. What else can be done to stop these scam losers. I need help!  Calling them and telling them I cannot receive phone calls at work only makes them call more. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am contacting a lawyer tomorrow.

A call blocker is quite gelpful, especially one which enables you to block entire area codes.

Keep getting calls about a payday loan I never got. I just filed another complaint with the FCC and FTC. Every time they call me or family I will file a complaint.

Just listen to my messages and had 3 messages trying to find the whereabouts of my sister. This seems like a scam from all the post on this site.

Received a message from this ph number - my phone screen even said 'scam suspected' - and john lewis - with a recorded part inserted with my name...creepy.  I have had loans in the past, so I'm sure they get information from things online - but very upsetting.  so glad for this site to see other people getting bogus call, otherwise I'd be worrying.

got the same call most people say they’ve been getting, didn’t recognize number so i sent it to the machine and they were actually looking for my mom but i still took it upon myself to try calling back and only ended up getting different voices who would say “hello this is (so and so)” and then shortly after automatically hang up.

    Enough Already (877) 826-9760
Received a call requesting I contact this number for information pertaining to my ex-sister-in-law. Mind you, my family and I received calls several months ago and I thought we had it taken care of the problem then when we threatened them with law suit and FTC but just now received yet another call asking for information because a formal complaint was filed. Well I am here to say that since my sister-in-law had passed away even before their first calls it will not do any good to keep contacting my family. It will not bring her back from the dead. The call came from (877) 826-9760 asking me to call (855) 303-5660.

Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Scammers. This caller even called my husband’s ex wife looking for me. I called back twice only to find out that the mailbox at that extension was full. I will be reporting to the attorney general.

Fraud, they called left a message about a relative and threaten police. Best not to answer. I called them back to ask who they are a female eventually answered and hung up after I asked who they are.
