They just google the name then look at the white pages and other names that may be related to you show up there on the white pages website. That gives them a list of other people they can bother for a while.

I got the same call this morning, from John Lewis, wanting my information and if anyone at the number he call know the whereabouts of (Me) and will press charges...

This scam has been gong on since 2008. Claims formal complaint for old payday loan. #1 payday loans illegal in Arizona #2 never had a loan #3 they can’t file a complaint over 2 years old in Arizona #3 my husbands retired FBI and the guy couldn’t get off phone quick enough.  It’s been traced to Bahamas and that region. Always the same fat black man and his girlfriend.

just got a call for a relative who's been deceased for two years. If they can find me to harass me, they can surely find a damn death certificate.

Received a call asking if I knew any information on a per son by the name of Sherry Dawson or Mcdawson? Left a voice mail asking to return the call, Dont know who the person is ? ... number will be blocked

Got a call from this number. They said they were filing an order to the court about an unpaid loan. I do not have any unpaid loans as per my credit report. They have called me multiple times leaving a message. I believe this is a scam.

Rcvd this call 11/24/17 & they left a automated msg requesting me to call them back asap at the # they called me on. Not gonna do it & you should not respond & block caller. They're "phishing" for your personal info to empty your bank acct's. FCC sez they're going to crack down on these calls & let's hope they do!!!  Gonna rpt this one to them.

I got the same exact call this morning, same name too, John Lewis. Saying to report my whereabouts or they'll call "the proper authorities". He also called my stepdad who lives 200 miles away and that I hardly see or talk to. I don't like it at all!

This person call name Mark said that I owe money on a loan. That was dated 2012. Said that they had contact my bank and my said funds was deposit in my account. Call my bank and they bank told me that they do not get out information only if I give written permission. They had my last digit of ssn and my last for of my bank account. I ask the who was the loan from and they could not tell me. They want me do a settlement and I can send the money to them. My bank said it a scam. They want me to open up the new account because they have all my information.

I received 2 voicemail messages from this number. Same garbled male voice. He said if I knew the whereabouts of "and used my husband full name. " he said to contact him so he can notify the proper authorities. My husband is a cop. This is a total scam

Has (so far) called my friend and my husband, but used my previous married name that I havent gone by in about 9 years. "John Lewis" said a "formal complaint" was filed against me, and he'll call "proper authorities" if he doesn't get info about me. I'm not in any kind of trouble, so I know for an absolute fact what he's saying is a lie. I'm more worried about who else he's calling, and whether they can tell that this is a scammer.

Side note: my husband has an app on his phone that says what calls are suspected scams, and sends them straight to VM. This was one of those calls.

Got a call from a John Lewis saying that there was a phone complaint filed on me and I needed to call back or the "Authorities would be contacted."  So I called and found out it was regarding an old pay day loan I had in 2008.  One the account is over 10 years old and falls under the statue of limitations law.  Second I had filed a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on all my open debts.  I informed my Lewis about this and he proceeded to tell me that I had committed check fraud and he was going to inform the Authorities.  I said that pay day loans do not follow the check fraud laws.  So how can I commit check fraud.  Second Mr. Lewis would not give me his company's information.  I told him to expect a call from my Lawyer.  The one how is committing fraud here is Mr. Lewis.  I had this happen to me in 2010.  A company called Check Resolutions called and threatened me that I was going to go to jail if I did not pay them.  So I paid them $1,000.00.  I found out latter that there collection agency was a fraud and the money I had paid them in good faith went in the pocket of the collector.  His name was Bob S. Peters.  So be ware as it is the law that any collection agency has to send you a letter.  So you can dispute the charge or pay it.  DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THIS FRAUDULENT COLLECTION AGENCY.
