No, it doesn't work that way.  Call centres and other businesses that have a PBX can send any Calling Line ID they want (well, to some extent anyway), and usually a business that has a Toll Free number will send that so that you can call them back.  That does not mean you are paying for the call if they call you.  The 855 area code works exactly the same way as 866, 877, 888, etc.  The "owner" of the Toll Free number pays for the calls. see http://nanpa.com/pdf/PL_407R1.pdf

Calls me twice a day, every day. Immediately ends call upon answering. I am a Telus cell phone customer.

Same as the last poster! I just I've been getting them lately, stopped for a couple days, then started again the last couple days. Everytime I answer it immediately disconnects. Starting to drive me nuts!

Good to know there are more and more people getting calls from this stupid number! Does anyone can understand what the answering machine says? She metions a website...which I didn't understand a word of it www. wtfXXXX.com Does anyone actually found the website?

They call me once every day!  Every single day!  I've never answered, but they keep calling persistantly.  It's very annoying.  I would call it harassment and will think about dropping all of my services with Rogers as a result of the lack of respect.  If someone doesn't answer over a period of 6 months every day, you'd think they would stop calling.  But not Rogers, they just keep calling because they don't really care about anyone do they?

Ok, this number has been calling me incessantly for the past month, almost daily.  I don't always pick up, let it go to voice mail, but no message.  When I do pick up there is no answer.  How can I get this to stop.  It's driving me batty!

I am also getting calls from this number..Rogers??  This is a sure fire method to have me cancel our service with Rogers!

Rogers fishing for new customers, I only have wireless through Rogers and under a different name, called and asked for my opinion on my Rogers services, when I told them I didn't have any, the young man on the other end tried to get me to switch over under the guise of saving me money, told him I was happy with Bell.

As a note I'm pretty sure these are trainees as the guy on the phone seemed nervous and really inexperienced which is unusual for Rogers.

I got a call from this number today but missed the call and they left no message as the rest of you said.  Here's what I think, if it was really a scam wouldn't Rogers (who seem to have been repeatedly told of this according the the posts I have read) have notified all their customers not to give personal information when this number calls?  I know that some banks will give notifications of when there is a scam going around concerning their bank.  Rogers sucks anyways but if it is a scam they should have the decency to tell their customers.

I've received 4 calls from this number in the last week.  Answered it once and the call was disconnected immediately.  I have Rogers wireless service so makes sense that it would be affiliated with them.  My workaround:  added the # to my contacts with the custom ring tone "mute" so at least I won't mistake it for a real phone call next time they call.

I get this call all the time I don't answer! I jailbreak my iPhone and downloaded I blacklist app and put that # on it now it gives them a busy single!!!! Problem solved!!

If I get one more call from this number I may lose my mind...even when I want to tell them to stop calling and answer I never get the chance as they hag up right away?!? Very odd.
Calling them back does not even work....even though they are an 800 number long distance charges will apply.

Here's keeping my fingers X'd.

I received a call from this number that I missed. I called them back and got an automated message that they were a marketing company working for Rogers. Then it proceeded to tell me a number to call to be taken off their calling list : 647-727-6245. I have not called yet in fear that it will in fact add me to their list! lol

Two calls from this number in the last five days.  Zed Solutions or Communications on behalf of Rogers.  

For both calls, the caller asked to speak to the main account holder by name.  When I asked to take a message, they said they were calling to go over Rogers services and make sure we're getting the best promos.  Both callers became rude when I refused to give any information on the phone.  The second caller was especially rude and argued that he wasn't asking for any personal information (I didn't even want to confirm if I was a Rogers customer or not).  Both callers eventually hung up on me.

I called Rogers.  The very helpful agent I spoke to is going to investigate and make sure the other CS agents are aware of the issue.  He tried to get through to someone to verify that this was a real marketing call, but he couldn't get through in the time he had me on hold.  

Meanwhile, I wouldn't give these people any information.  Even if they are legitimately calling for Rogers (and I question that), they're rude and pushy and I refuse to deal with them.

Make that three calls.  These jokers just called AGAIN while I was typing my previous message.  The caller said she was calling from ZEDD CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS on behalf of Rogers.  She asked for the main account holder.  I told her that I've received their calls before and that I won't deal with them anymore because their agents have been very rude.  She said she's make a note on the file and said, "Bye from Rogers!" as I hung up.
