- ACAyep...i just got one too. i did't pick up and no vm.
- JL| 1 replyI got one call on my cell at 5:30 today and another at 8:30. No vm. Did not pick up. Gonna have to check out this being charged for answering a call. Sounds fishy!
- mitch| 1 replyi got this call today at 7:56 pm and didn't pick up.
- MP| 4 repliesReceived a call from them last night at 8 on my cell, I answered as I routinely get legitimate calls from various area codes and I was expecting a call. Said it was some company doing a survey on behalf of my bank (she used the actual name of my bank). Told her I was working and I didn't have time. She tried to keep me on the phone, I hung up on her.
Called my bank this morning and they said it was most likely NOT a legitimate call. Funny thing is they had my name, the name of my bank (which is a relatively small, local bank), and company cell number tied together. If the 855 number can charge you for the call, how many people will sit on the phone and take this survey and not realize they are being charged the entire time? Very fishy, I will not answer a 855 number again. - Ara Bruno| 5 repliesGot a call did not pick up. No one has my cell number. NO ONE! I use google voice and give out another number but they this 855 number calls my actual cell number which no one, not even myself knows
- BOSSOF908| 3 repliesWTF is goin on here?! Called me three times today..
- Jenn| 11 repliesI got a missed call from this number today at 7:09 p.m.
I just recently started having some trouble paying credit cards and thought perhaps this was one of them. I'd like to know what bank they said they were from, MP. I live in CT and also belong to a relatively small bank (NewAlliance which recently merged with First Niagra Bank).
I hope they don't call me again. Grrrr. - MP replies to Jenn| 7 repliesJenn, yes I use First Niagara. Curiously, with the merge now I wonder was there some selling of information or a leak. All of my credit is in good standing, and I do not have any debt with First Niagara or New Alliance, so for me I am 100% positive it is not a collection call. These phone calls still do not seem legitimate, perhaps if every one else also uses either of these banks, they can call CS and stop these calls.
If in the off chance that it is a legitimate customer survey I would be agitated enough to withdraw all of my funds and move to a different bank. - anonymous replies to Doug| 7 repliesNo, 855 is a toll-free number just like 800, 888, 877 and 866. When 855 is used-up, I suspect the next toll-free area code will be 844.
- Mamma BearI also had a call from them today about an on-line bank survey and I could win a Blackberry. After second thoughts I called the bank manager who told me they never contact clients by e-mail, never use third parties for research and never of prizes for completing surveys. Checked my e-mails and it (the e-mail) had been automatically sent to my junk mail box.
- Reality| 8 repliesYou can't get charged when you are called. It doesn't work that way folks. Anybody who says that is making it up and spews it out like they are an expert. People think it's true...cause they read it on the Internet!! The only way you would be charged is if you pay on a per minute basis for use...and guess what? That concept would apply to all calls.

- Reality| 2 repliesPeople are misinterpreting the 'charged when you are called' aspect. Yes, you are charged when someone calls...**when YOU are the owner of the toll free number**. You call 1-855-123-1234 and the owner of the 1-855 number is charged...hence...the "organization/person being called is charged". Same thing applies to 800, 866, etc. Calls can not originate from a toll free number. What comes up on your call display is a telephone number that the organization's telephone system is sending out. I've had calls in the past from 123-456-7890 and 000-000-0000 as examples.

- David| 11 repliesHad several calls from this number over the last few days with no messages left when I didn't answer.. Today I answered. They had my name and the name of my bank. Said TDBank was taking a survey to find out how its customers conducted on-line purchases. They asked for the spelling of my name and my e-mail information. At that point I hung up. They said that the survey would be e-mailed to me and that the bank would send me a $20 check to thank me for my time. The call came over my cell phone
I contacted TDBank and they assured me that this was not legitimate. They also asked me my cell phone provider which nobody else mentioned as a possible link to the phishing. I use Verizon wireless. I wonder if the others do, too. The bank seemed to think that they used TDBank because it was the most likely bank in the area with my cell phone number. - HmmmmmJust got a call from this number (8:22pm EST). Didn't answer. They called my cell two days ago in the afternoon. I didn't answer then either. No voicemail message was left. I use one of the banks mentioned in several of the above posts, so I'm wondering if my personal info has been compromised.
- Lsvt| 5 repliesGot a call tonight but no message. Thankfully I checked this blog and a BIG thank you for your insights.
