    I got a call the other day asking for my hubby saying they were providing a survey from our bank on behalf of his credit card which is through the bank.   Our bank is TD Bank.    I said hubby wasn't home, because I was sure it was a scam.  Was in the bank the next day and asked.  Teller told me they are not offering survey from any banking services they supply and she asked for the number.  It was on my cell so I gave it to her.   BEWARE!

    got call from this number today, 5/5 at 13:35 EDT

    Said they're calling from "Citizens Bank" which could mean the "Red" citizens, or the "Green" citizens (RBS) which bought Charter one as far as I know.  

    I said "I have no relationship with Citizens Bank" and received a "sorry, thank you."

    Received a call from this number on my cell. I don't answer any long-distance numbers on it, nor do I answer anything with an 800-or similar prefix. No message left so it can't be that important! I called back on my landline .. number was busy. I would guess it's some bulk auto-dialer and they're trying to sell us something.

    I just received a call from this number, answered, all I got was dead air. Called back using Google Talk, an automated system explained in 3 languages, english, french and spanish, that this is company called Core Essentials a phone survey company. Sounds like a scam t me.

    I just got a call from this number. As soon as the voice said  I am calling on behalf of TD Bank I replied "NO you"re not, I've been reading about you guys on the internet, now leave me alone". Thank you all for your posts, probably have saved me a few headaches

    My wife's cell phone has has had 5 calls in the last 2 hours from this #.  Same as stated above, no msg and it is becoming very annoying.  I am a Verizon customer. Is there any similarities with others receiving these calls?

    (again) this time I picked up. They said they we're a survey company on behalf of TD Waterhouse ( in which I have an account) She only wanted five minutes and I said send me the info via email or mail. She said she would give me an email link once I finished the survey. I said nope, thanks anyway, bye! ;)

    I got a call from this # both yesterday and this evening. I didn't answer, but I am a td bank customer also. How are they getting our private #'s? I am on the cell phone do not call list. Fishy is right.

    I just got this call.  The bank card I have on file I had on the Playstation Network which had that data breach.  Anyone else have their bank card on Playstation and getting these calls?  I know there is a big concern that customer card information was stolen and Sony isn't sure yet.

    I use td bank also & I just got the call didnt answer and dont plan to, I never answer calls with numbers I dont recognize. Thank you all for the info, glad I decided not to answer now :) Hopefully my info is safe

    I had gotten a new phone from Verizon 1 year ago and shortly thereafter I began getting calls from 866-319-1118 repeatedly, all the way up until Feb of 2011. Always calling, never leaving a message. I never answered. Looking that number up, people say that it is a phone survey from their bank. I now missed a call from 855-496-4285 and it sounds like they are pulling the same stunt. How many of us used a bank debit card to purchase our phone services (whichever you have)? That's how they would know what bank we use. I'm beginning to suspect that there is a leak with phone services we are buying from, and I'd hate to think that our phone companies are voluntarily giving that information to others. It's a running theory at least.

    I've been receiving two calls per day (generally around 5pm and 7pm) for the last week and a half, I haven't yet answered it, and quite frankly, don't plan to after having read these posts. Very annoying.
    I'm also with TD, & I'm with Virgin Mobile.

    This number called Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, at 2:43 p.m. EST, on Friday, May 6, 2011.  They said they were TD Waterhouse (Toronto Dominion Bank) calling for a survey.  The caller was a live person and female.  This scam/phishing attempt didn't work.

    My bank is TD as well AND I use a prepaid Verizon wireless phone.  I've received the call a few times now, but haven't answered it.

Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use.

    [CALLING party is NOT charged and the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the CALLED party.  Essentially, it's the same as making a long-distance call.]

    I had another thought on this... I prepay my Verizon minutes with my TD bank card.  So if the Verizon payment info has been hacked, it would be easy to 1) have a number to call, 2) my name and 3) my bank.  And lots of folks auto pay their cell and Verizon home lines online with a bank card or use online bill pay with their bank.

    Ive received 2 calls. I don't pick up. They don't leave a message. I am a TD BANK customer.
    There  are two knowns here.
    I don't pick up the call - their automated system keeps my number on the " redial till answer" list.
    If I do pick up call - they get charged for the call.

    I may pick up and claim I'm not me, so they leave me alone
    Then tell bank.

    Wow I googled 855-496-4285 I did not expect to see so many responses similar to me.  I also have Verizon and this number has called me 3 times in the past few days, and no message.  I know now not to answer if they call again.
