It is indeed RBC's debt/client satisfaction department. The click you hear during the calls, with seemingly no one on the line, is the auto-dialer queuing up your call. If the actual representative doesn't manage to get to the next call in line within a certain amount of time, the call is placed anyway, without anyone to take it. Hence the silent, creepy scam call feeling.

This freakin' number calls my house daily...at least once every day.  I do not deal with RBC, so have no idea why they keep calling here.  I am on the DNC list and have filed a complaint.

It's RBC collections. I had to file for bankruptcy in Dec/11 and my wife a proposal at the same time. We have a joint account with RBC and she has a small loan with them with my car as collateral. They call three times a day, and won't talk to me, just my wife threatening to take the car if no payment is made. 1) She is in a proposal and trustee says they shouldn't be calling...all calls stop from the moment you sign the papers with the trustee. 2) Under the PPSA act, they can't take the car, it's in my name and I'm in bankruptcy and am allowed one vehicle. 3) The guy that calls is a nasty f#$k and if I knew where he was, i'd go kick his foreign ass. We just don't answer any longer, but it's still annoying.

It is RBC.  Just remember these calls are legitimate.  Yes they try to persuade you into the extra's RBC gives but they also can save you money.  They can differ loans over the phone..anything!!!, hardly step into a bank anymore.  If you answer the phone just tell them when the best time to call period and they make a note on your account. They do phone more than any other institution out there but they work for you...

Every F**** day they call me. Once in the morning, once in the afternoon; and once when I'm eating dinner.
I do not answer unknown calls in the first place.
Who are these people and what do they want?

Rec'd call from 510-771-5417 originating in FREMONT, California. Did not answer. Left message saying please "forward to her ..." to call ASAP this number above listed. Creeped me out. Did some research. RBC put out a fraud alert out Jan 2012 under # 240105 (Fraud Watch International) as extensive fraudulent emails were being sent out faking the website of RBC.  Anyway ... just watch out ... Go directly to RBC to get REAL phone numbers ... Anyway just watch out. Creepy.

Yes this is RBC and they are not pleasant people (to say the least). Best thing to do once they tell you who they are is quite simple......hang up on them!!!!  All my banking is with RBC but if they keep it up they'll lose a 50yr customer for the way they treated my intelligence.

This number calls my house everyday.  They never leave a message.  We do not answer calls from numbers we don't recognize.  If it is something important they can leave a message, but they don't.  I wish it would stop

Definately a scam, a different voice every time, so they got many people working in on it. People sound like mid-20s, males and females, and English-Pakistani accent. Hear a click as they pick up and hang up (which happened only the first time I called). After this, repeatedly (I called 10 times) machine saying that all agents are busy (Now they know your on to them). Furthermore press 1 for card services, 2 for all other services (of which are not mentioned). What about exchange rates? Account information? Hours? Speak with a respresentative? These sound more like those services provided by an actual bank, especially the biggest in North America. Go figure, If they were that crazy about getting your money they would definatey answer immediately and in person. They are looking for you to call them back so they can confirm your number that is displayed on their telephones (ie. to confirm your identity). Now they got your recent information and can call persistently as they please to make you panic and paranoid that in fact you do owe them. Once this occurs, hook, line, and sinker, they got you, and will pull more information, money, and waste your time. Tell them to eat a B=================D.

After reading this thread, I wasn't sure if it was legit anymore (this was after giving my info).  I called the RBC Visa number on the back of my credit card to make sure.  The rep at card services said that collections called me earlier today, and it appeared they talked to me.  So yeah, the number is legit.

Also of note, the person that left the message on my phone was the same person that picked up the phone when I called back.  The callback number ended in 1405.

If you are still unsure, rather than call back the number you're given, just call the number on your credit card and dial 0 at the menu tree to get to a rep.  The rep can then direct you to collections (as was the case with me, the rep offered it if I had more to add, but because I dealt with collections already, there was no need).
