Get calls from this number non-stop! Very irritating. I agree it could theoretically be RBC but I doubt it...because if it was and they were calling from collections I'm sure they'd leave a message asking for their cash. Banks don't tend to have a wait and see for months if they'll answer kinda protocol.

Get a call at least once a day. Driving me nuts. I did have my acccnt overdrawn for a little while (2weeks) but that is it. Why else would they call so consistently for such a long period of time?

If you're only getting three or four calls a day from this number, consider yourself lucky.  It's only noon and I've already had seven calls today from this number - to my prepaid cellphone.  I have no dealings with RBC, don't know the person they are looking for, and have told them so.  Doesn't seem to penetrate to their  miniscule collective brain, they just keep calling anyway.  Fortunately, my cell phone allows me to block numbers.  Now, they can call all they want and my phone won't even ring.  It does show the number of times they have tried to call.  Here's a suggestion.  Since it's a toll free number and they have to pay for incoming calls, why don't we all set our fax machines, dial up modems and autodiallers to call them over and over again.  Payback's a [***]!

Not sure if it is RBC or not, but they don't call at 8pm on a monday night which this number does.  They call during business hours if you are a client of theirs.  This number was calling awhile back too so I called RBC and they said it was a scam that the RBC only calls Mon-Fri during work hours if they need to talk to their clients and to ignore when this number calls.

This is RBC, called like mad, all day, not sure why they don't say RBC on caller id, finally got home, and answered it after many missed calls seen.  Picked up, some machine said my name, and to hold, then guy comes on asks if it me, I say yes, he punches a few keystrokes, then says disregard this message, and says bye. WTF!!!!

Claiming to be RBC Collections when there is no overdue debt to RBC. Caller couldn't state any account information that would be known by an actual account representative. Caller claimed to be in Ontario when actual call comes from California. Clearly a lame boilerroom attempt at phishing credit card and account data. DO NOT DIVULGE ANY INFORMATION!!! Block number ASAP!

Just got a phone call from 1-855-560-1406 from United States. A woman left a msg claiming to be RBC and asking me to phone her. It sounded legit but there's no way anyone would be sending me to collections, therefore I vote ScAm

It is The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). Turns out the last person who resided in my current address had not updated his account to his new dwelling-home. So they kept calling assuming he still lived here. They kept sending mail for him until I complained and explained he moved. Now they don't call anymore or send mail.

Usually they will call if you owe money, asked for promotional offers including account upgrades or selling life insurance and etc.

So if you want to dodge an other day before paying what you owe, don't answer to that number.

If this number calls If you don't or never had an account with RBC, don't worry because it's probably just a mistake... Simply call the local RBC in your area and explain that you are not a customer.

    Hope this help

I have also been called by this number, but I never answered the call.  I did a number check over the internet and came across several responses to this number and similar numbers to 855 - 560 - 14xx.

I contacted RBC directly and this is the information given to me by an RBC manager:

    1. This is not one of their numbers.  RBC numbers are posted on their website.

    2. They do use automated messaging and the automated message will leave a message on your voice mail.

    3. RBC uses 1 - 800 - xxx - xxxx numbers not 1 - 855 - xxx - xxxx

They also provided the following information:

Your reporting of these fraudulent calls are important, and we would kindly ask that you contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) to report these calls by one of the following methods:

    ·  phone at:

    - 1-888-495-8501 (Toll Free)
    - 1-705-495-8501 (Overseas and Local)

    ·  fax at 1-888-654-9426 (Toll Free)
    ·  mail at Box 686, North Bay, Ontario, P1B 8J8
    ·  email at info@antifraudcentre.ca.

After reading several blogs on various websites, the suspicious numbers use variations of:

    855 - 560 - 14xx

Be vigalent and never give personal information out to anyone.  If you are not sure, then contact your bank through a known number and check.to see if the number is legitimate.  If you talk to a live person on the other end then try to get as much information as possible such as full name (get them to spell it out), a return contact number, employee number, where they are calling from (city, province/state, country, street address, email information, etc.)  Tell them you will call back, then check with your bank.  If information does not match up, contact the authorities.

SCAM's come in all types, check out what happened with yahoo when the email system got hacked.

    SCAM ALERT
Sorry for the message repeat, I have been posting on several message forums and did not realize I hit this forum twice.

To update, I received positive feedback from this site:

    http://ontariodebt.org/855-560-1423-855560142 ... bc-collections/

I contacted Telus, my service provider.  They said there is nothing they can do to prevent incoming calls.

The only way to charge the "Fraudster" is if the "SCAMMER" lives in Canada.  Most often the calls are generated from overseas and there is no way to charge and prosecute.

Telus suggested searching "Phonebusters RCMP" on google which brings you to the government website as posted in my previous message.  I have already sent a message to this department.

After reading posts on this and other forums, the SCAM is to badger people into paying a "False Debt".  Some people have paid this "False Debt" in installments, only to realize the company they paid to was non-existant.

These "SCAMMERS" are relentless and act like a collections officer.  They will call relentlessly until they get their "Victims" to give in.

    1. DO NOT GIVE IN.
    2. If they call and you answer, then obtain all their information as stated in my previous message.
    3. Google Search "RCMP Phonebuster".  Report to the phone fraud investigation unit.

Do not believe any post claiming to be an RBC rep/employee on these forums.

This number stopped calling the morning of April 28, 2013 after averaging 3 calls per day.  It looks as though they read these forums as well.  I would also rank any 855-560-14xx as a possible SCAM as well.

The company name is probably registered as "Toll Free Serv" as seen on the Caller ID.

They call 100 times a day, when I pick up there is no one there.  If it were RBC it would say RBC, but it just says Toll Free Service.  They call all hours of the day.  I talked to a guy from RBC and he said if they are going to call they only do it during work hours.

All scammers claim to be from reputable companies. They try to obtain information from you instead of providing legitimate and relevant personal facts and information, which they should have, if they were from the business they claim to represent.
ANY reputable company doesn't hide their caller identity because they WANT you to know they are calling, for legitimate and/or important reasons.
I figure if these callers are simply ignored, or if the Police can track them down, they'll eventually have no reason or means to call and harass us anymore.
