Caller ID showed "TOLL FREE". Called us many times. We don't answer and they don't leave a message.

Dead air.  I just sang into the phone until it hung up/  855 is not limited to any aarea so can be anything.  Caller ID said "Instituto" which sounded interesting since I go to Latin America occasionally.  Who knows where this stuff comes from on Earth (or beyond)?

You are correct, Dan.  This is indeed a legitimate call. And, to answer somebody further down, polling takes place throughout the year, not just before elections. Pollsters and advocacy organizations want to know the "pulse" of the people, as it were, 365 days a year, not just before an election.

Not only was this a legitimate call, but when I asked the pollster a specific question derived to determine his personal political position, he clearly stated that the pollsters weren't permitted to provide that. However, from having been party to quite a few such polls -- many of which were slanted -- I can tell you that this one is, indeed bipartisan. (PhD - philosophical rhetoric -- persuasion and argumentation are my area.)

Those of you who have called the callers scammers or criminals need to take a chill pill. Not everybody is out to get you.

I don't wish to answer pollsters! They may not be criminals but it is very annoying, especially at election time which this is not! Why can't I get my number removed from such interruptions?! The phone is for my convenience, not theirs!

Didn’t answer.  Number spoofed to look like a political call.  Have no idea what they want but they are now blocked.

I don't exactly see why there must be so much anger about this number. Have you ever thought that some people have minimum wage jobs like these? They have to sit hours on end listening to angery people that they, as the responsible caller just doing their job, get yelled at and not a single person ever thinks, "Is there an actual person talking to me?" It's just kind of sad to see people get angry at what they don't know. Sometimes its there job to inconveniently upset but it is never there primary intention. Just keep this mind when you hear, "Nationwide public opion poll" because to be honest, you always happen to hear a lot of criticism and stereotypes from people, but really the people can just pick the phone deliberately ANGRY. Just chill out. PLEASE!!!

And have YOU ever thought that many people don't want to receive unsolicited calls of any kind? I personally don't care if the person on the other end of the phone is making minimum wage or $1000 per hour;  if they call me unsolicited I am not happy and will block their number.

Seriously? You must be one of those minimum wage drones that calls and harasses people for a living.  No one really cares about your stupid survey that was set up to give the place that hired you the answers they want to hear.

Maybe if they would stop calling when asked, people wouldn't get so annoyed.

Whats really sad is Survey takers who ignore people who ask to be removed from the list or that they are not interested in taking a survey and persist in trying repetitively. If you don't like how people feel over getting calls they don't want, then thats your problem and no one here cares about a Shill's opinion on the subject.

Just because you make your living pestering people in their own homes by using their telephones, that's no reason we should listen to you. You're no better than someone who makes phony calls for solar panels or the Fraternal Order of Police--I'm going to block you.
