- FormlessOneReceived a call today, at roughly 12:30 PM, from this number. Didn't pick it up - called it back, to discover that it was a "Code Red Alert" from our local police department, warning us that a burglary suspect was in the area.

- HJI just received a call from this number. It was an alert to inform me of a missing teenager from my city. Folks saying it's an emergency alert number are right!
Meanwhile, if anyone sees this, keep her in mind. Especially if you're in the Boston or New England area.

- timThey called and said they were a local police department and to be careful of children out trick and treating, like who wouldn't. They then hung up, sounded more like a recording. Never had this before, not knowing why they even called.

- PRCzar replies to fed up with this crapNot true ... it is a CodeRed emergency number.
- John L.They called before, this last recorded call said something about a good time on main street. I never signed up for this, but I really don't need that sort of information. I listen to the news all the time, on my computer, and 2 scanners, I pretty much know what's going on in my neighborhood.

- StuJust got a call - it is part of the reverse 911 system, notifying residents of the Train Derailment that occurred today here in NY and about shuttle service put in place by the county to assist commuters getting to work.. NOT a prank call.

- absolutely frustratedI just got a call from this 8559694636 and I've had it!! first they call me twice in a minute if I don't answer and then they won't call for a while and out of nowhere they start in again.when you block their calls from one number they only start again with another number and when you block that number the process just continues. these calls are also known as spam calls!! beware of these numbers!! I've noticed that since they've started calling us they don't send spam mail as much!! this harrassment needs to stop and it's time these callers got a taste of their own medicine!!! whoever invented this freakin' technology should've created something that prevents this kind of situation from happening!!!

- MIkeyThis call is something YOU or your CITY (county, region) has signed up for.
It is NOT telemarketing. It is NOT a spoof call.
It is a message from your locality about an emergency situation or important information you need to know about.- Caller: ECM Community
- Call type: Event reminder
- Lisa replies to LINDA ROBINSON| 1 replyYes, you really sound like a healthcare provider. NOT.
- Hedda LettuceWe never signed up for an emergency notification from our town, but alas, they got our number, and during a blizzard must have called at least six times! At all hours of the day/night. Don't know how to remove it, but it is legit.

- LegitGoogling unknown incoming revealed this was indeed a local alert notification call, so took the third attempt - regarded a shooting of which I was aware. First one in seemingly forever that wasn't a scam/spam.

- UpsetNCThis call came in from code red claiming that my power would be shut off if I didn't respond within so many days. All of my payments are up-to-date, so I can only assume this is a scam. The recorded voice sounded halting, incompetent and illiterate.
I assume it is possible the number was masked to show this 855 number but actually came from a different source. Like others have stated, my community has its own alert system in case of emergencies. That makes me suspect the whole thing is a scam.- Caller: CodeRed
- K replies to LINDA ROBINSON| 1 replyThis is not a telemarketer! It calls you to let you know of emergencies in your area, whether it be weather related or police emergencies.
- JustBobI just got a call from them. This is not a junk call. They provide
calling services for towns all over the place.
It's actually fairly smart. If you call the number back, it knows your number
and looks up the message that they are sending to your town, and plays
it again for you.
In my case, there is a flakey circuit somewhere in the Verizon phone
exchange (for land lines) in this town. So I did NOT get the initial
call - or rather it was not understandable. Calling the number back
got me the missed message. (We're getting a big snowfall tonight
and tomorrow near Boston, and they are delaying trash pickup.
Good to know.)
Bob- Caller: ECN COMMUNITY
- call recipientIt's OK, it is just a town related message. Trash pickup delay, etc...
- wonderwomanThey left a message , it was the Police Department of my town. They don´t ask for anything, their job is to divulge information of the emergency.
- Tired of TelemarketersThis call came first to our cell phone and then to our house phone. This call was about a severe weather warning in our area. I block telemarketers but this call is not trying to sell you anything, just trying to give you safety information. We appreciated it. We signed up to receive these calls. I just do not understand how anyone can get so angry about a warning service, that at some time they agreed to receive, be it Amber Alerts, a dam failure or severe weather. I guess the saying "no good deed ever goes unpunished" applies here in some cases.

- LisaJust got a call from this number and it was an alert from the city because of the weather.
