ECN Community is a legitimate citizen notification service used by many towns/cities/municipalities to pass along information regarding a incident/concern/alert involving your community. It is NOT a spamming nor telemarketing company.

So your in surgery, and you have your cell phone there with you? Yes, this goes into the "dumbing down of America". As other people said, this call could save you or your familys life. But now that I think of it, maybe we would all be better off with you not breathing good air.

If this is a code red in Colorado, why did I receive it in Idaho?
There was no message, just the call....twice today.

Earlier today, I received a real emergency alert from my town's own system with its own special Caller ID.  They always leave a message if you do not pick up so that you can respond even if you did not get to the phone right away.

I was going to write here that this was a scam.  Now I am not so sure.  Here is why.  I called this number.  It is the Plymouth County (MA) Sheriff's office.  They said that they use this number when there is an emergency.  So it is possible that our town, which is near Boston, called them and asked them to broadcast in Plymouth County as well.  But Plymouth County Sheriff's Office didn't know for sure.  Then I called my local police department which had broadcast its own emergency alert earlier in the day as described above.  They said they were unaware of any request to Plymouth to broadcast.  So this one is anybody's guess as to spam or not.

HERE IN NASSAU COUNTY, NY THIS WAS A CONTACT FROM OUR COUNTY EXECUTIVE REGARDING A NEW EMERGENCY SERVICE WHICH THEY ARE CALLING SMART 911 WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO GIVE THEM INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR HOME AND FAMILY IN ADVANCE SO THAT WHEN YOU CALL 911 FROM YOUR CELL NUMBER, THEY HAVE A BETTER IDEA WHO THEY ARE DEALING WITH AND WHAT YOUR ISSUES MIGHT BE.  A HOLIDAY GIFT TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF NASSAU FROM BIG BROTHER ED MANGANO.

Eddie Mangano wouldn't give his dying mother snowballs in January, before lining his and his cronies pockets. You paid handsomely for his "Holiday Gift," of Smart 911

Not only do you not comply with your Employers, "no cell phones in OR (very bad germ carriers), but I am sure most employers do not allow personal cell phones where staff can take personal calls on duty, you also cannot comply with the site rules/request and not type in all caps, we are all victims here not perpetrators.

I live in Nassau county, Long Island. Could this possibly be a nation wide emergency alert system? I am wondering if maybe it is a scam. When we have emergencies here, a different number calls and leaves a message, I also get an emergency alert with info on my cell phone.

Yes, we just received last night a call about a missing girl in our area. Got a similar call from them earlier in the year. It would be helpful to have CodeRED on the caller ID though. Ours showed "ECN COMMUNITY" instead.

Reading through these messages, it's quite obvious that scammers are spoofing the caller #, using this legit number. That's why some people are claiming it as spam. Unfortunate.

Have received road reports from this number before (we specifically signed up for them) and tonight we received a bulletin about a missing girl. I bet if the call was identified as emergency services or county sheriff or however, no one would pick it up anyway.

Caller ID was unknown but it was Blue Earth County Sheriff Dept.

Just received an message from this number about snow ban parking on 1/26/15 and 1/27/15.  I think there is a problem with the Skokie IL system as I live 4 states and 900 miles away.

It was my town's chief of police warning us about an impending storm and emergency plans. I did not answer because I did not recognize the number but I got voicemail with instructions.

I just received a call from this number. If it really is a Code Red service, why not leave a voice mail?

This was a legitimate call from our town advising us of a road closing due to a tree down. We are having a major wind storm here and this phone call was true, the tree cut out electricity for a portion of our village.
