I'm so sorry this happened to you all.  I was just looking at a similar DEAL! San Diego Craigslist is now offering a few cars for $4950.  I inquired on one and received an email from a woman, Jane, at an AOL address, who supposedly worked for Ford and so got an employee discount.  She has now been transferred to the UK, but the car is in Virginia, and can have the car transferred anywhere in the US at her cost. She wrote:
 
"I decided to make this transaction through eBay because I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do the sale. You send the money to eBay and they hold the payment until the car is delivered. You have 7 days to inspect the car and the documents. I get the money after you check the car and make sure everything is as agreed.
If the car is not as described and you want to return it, I will arrange to ship it back (on my costs) and you will be 100% refunded by ebay. I'm sure you will love the car and will not want to return it but it's good to know that you have this option available."  

How scary that this is still going on after so many people have been scammed.  Thanks for the warning!  I hope you all recover something - that the police track them down.  Good luck!

I had the pleasure of encountering Sgt. Michael Lefevre or Lemichael.r.lefevre@gmail.com this past weekend. This guy is the perfect example of a living breathing virus. This guy is a poor excuse for a human being and needs to be put out of his misery.

Although I was quick to see through his BS, it is apparent that he has been causing damage for quite some time. Does anyone know why the 858-408-3555 cannot be tracked ?

Im a single mother and have little money.  Victor Joh offered me the car for a 500 down payment and the rest paid out.  Foolishly, and thinking my luck was changing, I gave him $500 and still have no car.  It really makes it hard to believe in others, when I can't trust anyone!

I have been contacting a person by the name of S.Sgt Kevin Stevens that is "selling" a 2004 Toyota Tundra for $4990.  The story was the same as everyone elses on this webpage so I'm posting my experiences so others hopefully don't get scammed.  I actually looked up the name and found a pic that made it more believable.   http://www.lakenheath.af.mil/news/story_media.asp?id=123152733    I was suspicious about everything so I asked about payment and he said that it could be done through ebay.  I responded that I didn't think ebay did that and that everything was through paypal. Haven't heard from the guy since. I checked with ebay and they said it was probably a scam cause they don't ever hold money for anyone.  I'm including what was sent to me.

I am a servicemember in the U.K. and i actually know SSgt. Parks. It is not him doing this scam as your post implies. These are very common scams performed by non-military members. For all those who find a deal from a military member, contact them or their base by confirmed methods (i.e. their public Web sites) and they will be able to let you know if it is a scam or not.

This scam is awful and everyone i know here who has had their names used for it feel really bad for any potential victims. And on top of that, you need to remember that our names are the ones being dragged through the mud and we have no legal recourse to prevent them from using our names.

Note to everyone, as of today July 22, 2009, the guy is still on the loose.

Because this truck belongs to a person in Portland, Oregon its sale price is 24,800.  Went through this last year when Sister in Law was about to be scammed. They find these vehicles for sale and get you to send a "Money Gram"  NEVER SEND WESTERN UNION.

This guy is on Craigslist.com (Los Angeles, CA) selling a Toyota 4Runner.  I felt there was something wrong and I'm glad I googled him and found out that I am not the only one. Its a shame someone is posing as a US Air Force Sgt.

I recently have undergone the same scheme. I am looking for a vehicle when I came across an ad for a Lexus IS350 for only $4990. It was the same deal with an Air Force Sgt. stationed in the UK, shipping would be taken care of, even included the same general description about the car down to the punctuation. Thankfully I googled the name, which was Kevin Gerber. Thank you guys for all of this info.
