Received a call from this number, person of Indian accent told me that I needed to sit in front of my computer and turn it on. I told them to hold on while I did this. ( I really wasn't doing this) picked the phone back up about 4 minutes later and they were still there. I asked where they were calling from and they to said Microsoft.
from there I carried on a normal conversation, weather, kids, lasted about 5 more minutes and then said oh I'm sorry I don't own a computer.

I received the exact call today at my elderly mothers house.  I told him to F**k off and hung up.  He called back right away and wanted to know why I am abusing him.  Told him the same thing again and hung up.  He kept calling and finally after the 5th call I told him I was reporting him to the Illinois Attorney General.  Not sure if the calls stopped since I left my mothers after that exchange.  A**hole.

Caller, Indian sounding male, advised that my computer was infected and that he could repair it. I just listen to his fraudulent statement for a few minutes,  I then asked him, if he was calling to file a complaint, because he had call the Police Dept! He stopped talking momentarily and advised that he had called the wrong number. He then apologize and hung up! He called my personal cell number, but I made him believe that he had call a Police Dept, which he had not!

    wth
Someone called me to talk to me about my computer. My relationship with my computer is none of anyone's business. Immediately, I told the caller "you're full of sh*t," and before I had the chance to press the off button, I could the caller say, "no, I am not!" If it was a reputable company's saleman/woman, they may state up front who they are and what company they represent. The fact that the caller did not identify herself or her company is suspect. The fact that the caller called my cell phone, is inexcusable!

As a rule, I don't answer unknown calls.  If they are legitimate, they will leave a message.  When I start getting a bunch of them I sometimes answer "Denver Police Dept.  How may I direct your call?"  They hang up then.  Sometimes I have answered and just keep saying "Hello?" over and over even if they are talking, then act as if I'm telling someone with me that no one's on the line and hang up.  Once I answered the windows call and pretended that I didn't understand him and didn't speak much English, insisting my windows were clean and I wanted to know where he was because I was looking out my windows but couldn't see him.  He finally got exasperated and hung up.  They don't like it when you waste their time.  As a rule tho, unless you feel like playing with these guys and frustrating them back, just don't answer any calls from unknown numbers.

I got the same exact thing as Dom. Of course the one time I answer the phone...

This is a scam!  It's some scammer group from India.

Said they were from Geek Squad, then later changed and said Microsoft. Said he transferred me to someone else, then pretended to be someone else to explain things, Then said "as I told you before..." which was not something the second persona said.. just the first..."  Said my area code was infected (I move around and my area code does not match where I am, nor does it affect the computer.) Then later he said that it was routine maintenance, instead, even though the same person had said there was a virus, and other random stuff that he thought he could convince me with. (Constantly changing your story... what? lol.)
Since I was already on the phone, I gave up no information (they already have my number, apparently), so I tried to make the most of it and tried to get info out of them.  Asked for websites, proof of anything, names, and all they gave me was Geek Squad and Microsoft. So I couldn't get anything out of them, unfortunately. (I have nothing to do with Geek Squad anyway, as I build my own computers, and never use them.)
They want to take remote control of your computer (to install Malware of course.) They said I could disconnect any time (and of course by then it would be too late.)

There is a warning about this on Microsoft's website, by the way.

Oh, and there is a long pause before someone answers, so it probably seems like no one is there at first.

He said no and kept going on I just keep repeating over and over this is a scam..he said who told you this. I finally Saud your name is not Neil and this is  scam and I hung up.

This caller told me to go to my computer and let him know when I was on my homescreen. He said this is a critical call because of critical errors on my home desktop. I hung up, he tried calling back twice and I blocked him. He had a very thick accent and I had a hard time understanding him.
