This phone call is for...(I do not know this person).  This is Mr. Bixby with Northstar.  I am calling about a debt you owe with Discover Financial Services...

I do not know the person they are calling for...Frankly, I wish I did, so that I could tell them that I now know their business because Mr. Bixby left it all over my voicmail.  They need to be sued and shut down.  Talking about violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act...Acutally, they probably need a class-action lawsuit filled, so they have to pay huge damages...So, anyone out their that has been harassed by these people talk to an attorney!

The company just called me and had a rude fast talking agent tell me I owed all kinds of money and that she would keep bothering me until I paid her client.  She threatened to pull my credit find out where I work and garnish my wages. And would continue to call me until I paid this ungodly amount.

I informed NorthStar NOT to call me at my workplace.  If I owe the debt I would pay, but the credit card company they are trying to collect for is for fraudlant charges that were disputed, but never removed from the card.  I quit paying

My confusion on this matter is why people who dont pay their bills think they are owed something...U people need to quit making excuses and really learn the laws before you make assumptions.  U people are the ones who sign the paperwork to get the credit then think u can do whatever you want when u dont pay the bill..And I think its so funny that when u debtors want to pay $5/month and its refused that then you dont have to pay your bil...offer something reasonable and pay your bill!!! Its yours

Debt collectors are allowed to call neighbors relatives friends your job anywhere to try and get ahold of you dead beats...Yes you can send a ltr to not be contacted but then you just get sued.  So heres what I suggest....quit making excuses and bashing companies for trying to collect their clients money that you debtors basically stole...Read the fine print when you get these credit cards or loans because what you sign is what you get...Simple solution...When you get the letter that you have an outstanding accnt wether 6 months old or 5 yrs old pay the darn thing then your job doesnt get called and so on....

Don't waste your time arguing with the idiots at Northstar. Their phone skills are as bad as their grammar and job choices, so you know you're going to get nowhere talking to them.  They're not going to sue because it's expensive and they rarely have proof of debt, but primarily because most of the debts they're trying to collect are antiques that are barred from legal action by state statutes of limitation.  I dealt with them about a year and a half ago and finally invested in a device that forwarded phone calls.  Everytime they called, I logged the phone number and had all subsequent calls from that number forwarded - to pay phones, to porn lines, to horoscope hotlines, back to their own company - you get the idea.  Don't allow them to get to you - it's what they want.  Waste their time, mess with their heads, and have a good laugh at their expense knowing they're pretty much powerless to follow through on any of their threats.  Some cable companies that provide phone service will allow you to block a dozen or more numbers, so that's another option.  Other devices won't forward, but will block hundreds of specific numbers.  Remember, they may have your number, but once they contact you, you have theirs, and that's all you need to shut these bottom-feeders out permanently.

Nunya, why are you posting as Concerned about the idiots? I can tell it is you posting again because you pretty much said the same thing earlier and you used the same lazy grammar\typing.Why do you care about a stranger paying their bills? Because you work for a collection agency and can't get a real job,so you sit in your office, which is really a desk in a room with 20 other people who can't get real jobs either.I will laugh when the day comes that you default on a loan.

North Star claims they aren't a Debt Collector...

    Federal Judge Refuses To Dismiss
Case Against Debt Collector & Lawyer

LOS ANGELES (CN) – A federal judge refused to dismiss a couple’s claim that N Star Acquisitions barraged them with hostile phone calls to collect a nonexistent debt. Paul and Suzette Oei say North Star representatives called their house incessantly, trying to collect a debt the Oeis allegedly owed on an Aspire credit card account, though the Oeis said they never owned an Aspire card. Suzette claimed one worker called her at work, accused her of being a liar, and when Suzette asked him to stop calling, called another 23 times. When North Star’s attorney, Paul Carruthers, sued them, they fired back with their own lawsuit, which North Star moved to dismiss for a slew of reasons. It claimed North Star was not an actual debt collector and couldn’t be held responsible for the actions of its attorney, whom it labeled an “independent contractor.” Judge Margaret Morrow rejected these arguments, as well as the Oeis’ assertion that their emotional distress claim was “akin” to a malicious prosecution claim.

24 Mar 08 On Sat., 22 Mar 08 at 8 AM Calif. time, I received a call from a man at Northstar asking for someone named Karen.  I told him that I knew no such person and that I never give or confirm information requested by people whom I do not know.  I then told him that it was a good thing I was not near him as I would probably be guilty of assault.  At this point the man, whose name I did not get, said that he was a big boy and that, if I were in a confrontation with him, I would "wake up next week".  I take this to be a Mafia-type threat. The man did agree to remove my phone number from Northstar's calling list.  On Mon., 24 March at 8:41 PDT, I called Northstar again at 716-565-6926, a number which I found via a Google internet search, and reported the above verbal encounter to a lady who identified herself as Linda Leising. According to Northstar's website, Ms. Leising is her company's "Compliance Officer".  I added that I did not appreciate being woken up at 8 AM on a Saturday morning by a collection agency trying to dun someone else for alleged debts about which I have no knowledge or responsibility. She said she would look into my complaint and take care of the situation.

Knowing how to use apostrophes and making sure your subject and verb are in agreement is not "perfect grammar."  It's basic literacy.  Let's see: you are sanctimonious, illiterate, and obviously have too much time on your hands: you sure sound like a debt collector.

You people make me laugh. If it wasen't for debtors, collection agency's would not be around. Collecting debt's is a really job weather it is an agency or in house. What I have realized through the years is: When a debt is not payed we all lose. If it an overdrawn bank account, it comes back on everyone involved with that bank. If it is a store purchase, again we all suffer, because they raise prices to recoup the loss. So while you are all sitting there arguing what is legal or not. Just remember, if we have children that want to get into college to help us in the future, they will look at Mom and Dad's credit report.  No I am not a collector or a debtor (anymore it took me 15 yrs to end that) In the end everyone suffers including the elderly. I have seen it and experienced it.

I received a call yesterday from a guy who said he was calling from the courthouse in my town, and that an "action" had been filed against me.  He was calling to inform me of it and see if I were going to "take care of it voluntarily".  Well, there IS no courthouse in my town, and even if there were, they don't call defendants to notify them about cases.  This guy was impersonating an officer of the court!  I finally got the truth out of him - that he was calling from Northstar.  I said, "so you're a collection agent" and he said, "No, I'm a legal advisor".  Well, the only people who may be paid to give legal advice are attorneys.  So now he's impersonating an attorney!  I called Northstar later to complain; the hyped-up twenty-something who called himself a supervisor said he was an attorney too, before saying he was "just kidding".  These people are begging for a class-action suit.

So I see Nunya's at it again, changing their screen name to try and fool us.  I would bet everything I own on the fact that Nunya aka wow you're an idiot, etc works for Northstar.  I think YOU (or U) are an idiot.  Did you read the fact that someone had already paid off their debt to Northstar when they were being harassed?

I know I would be more willing to pay a debt (if I owed it) to someone who was nice to me and didn't treat me like I killed their dog.
