What people don't find funny is getting called by people like you that have incorrect information. You call my house all the time looking for people I've never heard of. Get your facts straight or better yet get a real job and a life.

the requirements for being a dumb [***] debt collector must be to have failed at everything else

I get calls from the likes of you all the time and I do not owe a single penny to anyone. First, if a neighbor owes you money don't call me. If a relative owes money don't call me. If a friend owes money don't call me. If anyone on the face of the earth owes money other than me then don't call me! That should be simple enough for a debt collector to even understand.

debt collectors really are the dumbest people on earth. only someone that failed at everything else they ever tried would be a debt collector

    Tired
Got a call today from the number 866-224-9824 at my place of business!   They asked for someone that has never worked here.  When this mongrel asked again if I was sure this person doesn't live there.  I told him this is a business and that I didn't know this person.  He said why no one had called them back because of all the messages they have left.  I said I didn't receive any messages.  I then asked what it was for and he didn't answer.  I then asked who he was, and after a long pause, (I almost hung up) he said he was Mr. Zach.  Really?!  I then asked again what it was about and he hung up on me.  What an [***]!!  I called back the caller ID and someone answered Northstar.  I hung up and searched it out and found this.  So there's my story.

You individual's that think you're doing a noble thing working for a company like Northstar are clueless, to say the least.  Northstar called me numerous times trying to receive money that was already paid to the credit company.  I in turn got to sue your [***], miss-informed, ill-run company.  And yes, I did receive a hefty amount, thanks to Northstar.  So, to the people that owe money to the ceditor's, I say...  Work a deal out to pay back what you owe, minus the overcharging of interest that they gladly remove, because they know it's unfair.  And then, just sue the collection agency for not following the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.  These companies will eventually go out of business due to the lawsuits coming their way.  It's easier than you think.
And for the moron's who say all people that have debt are deadbeats....be very careful casting stones when you live in glass houses.... oh wait, my bet is that you've never even owned a house.

Obviously it's not a "REAL" job or they would require you know how to spell.  I too am in financing, oddly enough I am in the business of granting federal financing for homeownership.  "Gauranteeing" is horrible spelling.  So before you try calling anyone out on stupidity... take a look at yourself... we are in a crumbling economy with the highest reported unemployment statistics in decades... your commission for collecting debts is just not important to some.  And with much looser lending guidelines there is really no reason to pay off debts to pathetic companies who will give money to just about anyone as long as there is a 352% return APR on it.

I got two calls from this number and I have excellenct credit a masters degree and a great job.  They proceeded to call me and hang up on me two times in a row.  I played their game and called them five times in a row and no one would talk to me.  They finally asked me why I kept calling them.  I got hung up on every time I asked them why they would call someone's number and then hang up not only once, but twice.  Who is the Stupid party in this situation?????????   I am not sure I would consider this a real job.

In reading the post you made calling the other person stupid, you made so many errors that you truly made yourself look the part you were trying to portray of the other person. If you wish to get in front of people, and tell them all you're a bill collector, then you should at least take care with your grammar, as you've merely proven what we all think in the first place...that you're an illiterate dolt. Get a job.

the only ones making excuses are you collectors that are ILLEGALLY attempting to collect debts you CANNOT prove were EVER VALID in the first place.   NO VALIDATION means the DEBT does NOT EXIST!

Your continuing illegall harrassment on these complaint boards only PROVES that you have no LEGAL right to collect from ANYONE.

    Notes
Junk debt collectors with a reputation for highly aggressive collection tactics.

Joe Castlevetere used to head Great Lakes Collection Bureau, one of the worst agencies in Buffalo, NY.

They should be challenged at every step, make them produce documents on every claim, challenge everything they place in credit reports.
They have deep pockets for consumer attorney's to sue if necessary.

Do not trust these proven collectors under any circumstances.

    Quick Analysis                         Consumer Comments Below

Far too many complaints on this organization to leave them off this site. Owners Joel Castlevetere of Clarence, NY and partner Joseph Mosley are two old debt collectors who have mastered the art of collecting debts. They purchased old, (mostly worthless) accounts fore pennies, then churn out paper work to give them validity that allows them to go after consumers.
The complaints we receive are typical of the ‘Buffalo Style’ debt collectors where threats of legal actions are pending and the debt collector’s sound more like thugs than professionals do. This is typical of the history of Joel and his associates. He was once the owner of Great Lakes in Buffalo, NY, which was then, labeled one of the worst debt collectors in New York, before it was sold off.

Consumers who are contacted or have suits filed against them by Northstar should be aware that in the vast majority of cases, it is far less expensive and highly beneficial not to pay them, but to fight them. A nationwide group of consumer attorneys is available to assist you in taking on Northstar and their claims by attacking the validity of the bogus accounts they file. If you do the math on paying Northstar versus fighting them, you win by a long shot. They do not have the original documents in the majority of claims they file and most consumer lawyers are geared up to make them prove it or walk away with nothing.

The reputation of this organization and the people working there is as bad as what was featured on all the collection agencies profiled on Dateline NBC. Same tactics lies harassment, threats, intimidation, and different players. Measure the cost of a lawsuit, a possible wage garnishment, property lien and bad credit for at least seven years against what it costs to hire an experienced consumer law professional and it is a no brainer.

My recommendation, based on their experience and the mail received is to stay far away from Northstar Location Services. Contact me for assistance and referral to a local consumer law professional who can assist you in dealing with these thugs of the collection dumpster.

CAUTION: I recommend you NEVER disclose your bank account or credit card information to a debt collector, as you risk them emptying your account, or maxing out your credit card. If you feel they are reporting on your credit bureau files in error or need assistance in dealing with them, email  the details w/your location.  Assistance and referral to a consumer legal specialist may be available

Giving The Bounce To Counterfeit Check Scams
    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/articles/naps29.pdf

NAPS)—A new scam is swindling consumers: checks that seem legitimate to both bank employees and consumers, but that are counterfeit and leave unsuspecting consumers footingthe bill.

The Federal Trade Commission has a new brochure, “Giving the Bounce to Counterfeit Check Scams,” which explains common angles used in these scams, the responsibilities of banks and consumers when it comes to counterfeit checks, and advice on how to avoid them.

While the angles used by scam artists may vary, the basics of the counterfeit check scam remain the same.

The consumer receives a generous check with an explanation that he or she has just won an award, a prize, a lottery or some other windfall.

The consumer is instructed to deposit the check and wire a portion back to pay fees, taxes or the like. The consumer deposits the check, the bank credits the funds to the consumer’s account and the consumer wires the money to the sender.

Some time later, both the bank and the consumer learn the check was bogus. Unfortunately, the consumer is out of luck: The money that was wired can’t be retrieved and, by law, the consumer is responsible for the deposited check—even though he or she didn’t know it was fake.

The FTC advises consumers not to rely on funds from checks unless they know and trust the person who gave them the checkor, better yet, until the bank confirms that the check has cleared.

    Other tips:

    • Throw away any offer that asks you to pay for a prize or a
gift. If it’s free or a gift, you shouldn’t pay for it.

    • Resist the urge to enter foreign lotteries. It’s illegal to play a foreign lottery through the mail or the telephone, and most foreign lottery solicitations are phony.

    • Know who you’re dealing with and never wire money to strangers.

    • If you’re selling something, don’t accept a check for more than the selling price, no matter how tempting the offer or how convincingthe story. Ask the buyer to write the check for the correct amount. If the buyer refuses to send the correct amount, return the check. Don’t send the merchandise.

    • If you accept payment by check, ask for a check drawn on a local bank or a bank with a local branch. That way, you can make a personal visit to make sure the check is valid.

    • If the buyer insists that you wire back funds, end the transaction immediately.

    • Resist any pressure to “act now.” If the buyer’s offer is good now, it should be good after the check clears.

For every call they make I call at least 10 times and hang up or push buttons when they answer. It really pisses them off. And just like any collection agency after receiving 30 to 40 calls from you over a week they give up. I call them on my cell phone during Saturday because I have an unlimited plan on weekends. Every red light, I call them.

stupid person not good with money replies to smart person
    your comment wasnt any better....

where do you think all of those people went that lost their jobs, due to others losing their jobs, and not paying their debt?
probably on the opposite end of the same phone calls they made at one time.

money is scarce, jobs are scarce and if our govt dont stop borrowing...people are gonna run scarce.

but since you pay your bills on time and have such a perfect life why dont you write us, stupid ignorant people, a book and teach us how to live "your" life

and you shouldnt be stupid either  those 80% that you are talking about that have jobs and dont pay their bills bc they arent smart with money, could be possible bc they use to make decent money now bumped down to minimum wage bc they lost their good jobs to begin with and now cant afford that note bc those babies bellies are more important

now where does this all lead.  its neither us stupid peoples fault, nor your fault, it is how our money was being spent in the govt that got us all here in the first place.

im sure you have a mortgage, car payment, airplane, and a yacht and can afford it on a comfortable salary...but one of these days your greediness just like everyone elses will catch up to you and that comfortable salary wont be there when you wake up...and uh oh you are getting phone calls 3 times a day on a yacht payment that defaulted...you people are just as susceptible to this plague as the rest of us
