- lou replies to POUnfortunately I agree but unless you saw it you would not believe the things people say to get out of paying their debts we never know what to believe.

- someone's momI got a call from "James Perkins" who was looking for my son. Said he had a business matter he needed to discuss with my son re: his name & social security #. He gave me the phone # but said he could not give the name of the company to a third party because of federal privacy guidelines. I thought it was suspicious so I searched the phone # and ended up here. Thanks.
- Anonymous replies to anonymous| 2 repliesThe called me today, for a bill that we do owe. However, my husband's bank account was broke into and cleaned out, so the payment did not go through. They started calling us on the 3rd, while I was out of town for my sister's funeral. I didn't get the messages cause my phone doesn't work where my mom lives. Called them as soon as I got back. They said they'd also been trying to reach my husband on his cell phone. Well, he can't get it while he's at work and last weekend he was at a training class. The guy started getting rude and basically threatening me. I asked for a supervisor over and over and he wouldn't listen to me, so I tried to talk over him. He kept on trying to threaten me, but I hung up on him. I called my husband and told him to call them, I can't deal with it. Husband said ok, so I called back to tell them I'm not in the frame of mind to deal with them, and hubby will call back. Now they're saying we owe the balance in full! All because I 'yelled' at him! Which I didn't do, I just wanted a supervisor. Then he was mad about me hanging up on him. There's NO WAY we can do that!

- Richard C.They keep calling and asking for a person who does not live here. They do not believe me for some reason. They even said that they were given this number to reach him. Kept telling them they have the wrong number and to stop calling. They said they would, but haven't.

- anon replies to anonymous| 2 repliesthis number called my boyfriend, at my mothers house, claiming that they were verifying the information for his recent discovery card application and wanted him to verify his social security number. first off there is no reason ANYONE should have ever called him at my moms house, second he hasn't ever applied for a discover card or any other card for that matter and third.......calling us and asking for a social security number? DO THEY THINK WE ARE STUPID????? i called her back to tell her to remove this phone number from their list and she proceeded to yell at me and argue that he hung up so she couldn't verify if he was the right guy. she was so obnoxious that i eventually hung up on her too. this is a scam! NO ONE SHOULD EVER CALL AND ASK FOR A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, EVEN THE BUSINESSES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THEM!!!
- MizzMMy phone number is listed in the Directory under my first initial and last name. I get calls all the time from collection agencies looking for debtors with the same last name and first initial. Just call them back and tell them the person they are looking for is not at this number and ask them to remove your number from their database. All I had to do was make one phone call, and they complied. Yes, they are trying to collect a debt, but legally, they have a right to do so. If you don't call them back, they will keep calling--people that owe money often disconnect their phones, leaving the collection agency with no choice but to call anyone/everyone who may or may not be the debtor--trying to do their job. Ignoring phone calls from a debt collector (even if they aren't calling the right person) won't solve anything. (I was out of town for 3 weeks and received 8 messages from this company--I called back to let them know I wasn't the person they were looking for, and the assistor was very courteous and immediately told me he would remove my number from their database.) Sure, it was an "inconvenience" (especially because they called at 8:00 on Saturday morning--the ONLY day of the week I get to "sleep in"!) but it took no more than 2 minutes for me to correct the problem.

- Fed UpThese people are looking for someone with my first and last name. They are looking for someone in the state of GEORGIA. I am one of at LEAST 750 folks in FLORIDA that have my first and last name somewhere in their legal name. PLUS they are calling a cell phone that at one time 15 years ago used to be a business around Middle Florida. I plan to research where they are actually located and file a complaint with that state's Attorney General, my state's Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, and since I am on a FCC No-Call listing, I plan to complain to them as well.

- sickothisThey have my number from a guy a worked for for a short time. Not sure how the heck they got my number, but they are continually calling me from all different numbers and leaving me messages. I have told them that I am obviously NOT HIM and they might want to look in Lebanon for him because I haven't seen or heard anything about him in 2 years and last I heard, he was taking all the money owed to creditors and in taxes here in the US and cashing in over in his homeland. Isn't that what they all do? Give them credit again, stupid. Just leave me out of it. I see all of the smarmy remarks from one of the Norstar employees on here - What? You can't be wrong? You can't be contacting the wrong number or person? Really? Well, only one thing left to say about that - BITE ME, morons!

- loumg replies to anon| 1 replyunfortunately we do ask people to verify thei ss number because we are held liable for disclosing ang of dbtr personal info to a 3rd party. Basically if i was talking to someone other than the dbtr about the dbtrs acct he could sue me and my company.
- loumg replies to This could be you!| 2 repliesUntil we can verify that you are the dbtr state and Federal laws prohibit us from saying we are a dbt collecter to anyone other than the dbtr. So we dont embarrass tou the dbtr.
- loumg replies to MA| 1 replyIt is true dbt collectors can be rude but so are dbtrs. I a collector has a wrong number definately call them be prepared for them to be suspicious about you possibly being the dbtr but in the end we are vetting the people to make sure it is not the dbtr trying to skate on a legitimate dbt.
