Keep getting calls from this number.  I don't know anyone in jail, at least not that I know of.  This is the 4th unknown number to call me recently.

I received a call bright an early this morning from this number with a long, long message???  
866-230-7761

I received a call  from an unknown ID and just ignored the call, caller left the message in a voice mail asking to call back 866-230-7761.
 Since my phone number was registered with      https://donotcall.gov  , so all I have to do is report it.

Received and reported/blacklisted as spam! :D

my husband has been in jail for almost 3mnths and cant talk to him only thru  letters i dnt understand why i have to pay 25 or 50 bucks to tlk to him on my house phne such a [***] rip off. globel tel link blocked his calls making me pay to tlk to him on my house phne why cant it be billed to my phone bill each mnth i get my bill. smh ugh dey are so money hungry .

gtl do still exist. my husband just tried calling my house phone this morning couldnt tlk to him because gtl says i have insuffient funds. why is that with my home phne i expect the cell phone to be that way but nt the house phone.

Uhm, it's not a scam, actually. It's a legit inmate telephone service that allows inmates to make collect calls out, and also offers the option to set up a prepaid account.

Sounds like more of the same.  Long story short, nobody here has solicited these calls.  Good for those who got in touch with friends in trouble.  Bad for us who have no connections to the recently incarcerated.

This number called me three times telling me that I had a collect call from an inmate at "global tel link" and that I had to activate my prepaid account to receive the calls.  I don't know how they got my number but I don't know any inmates.  They repeatedly call me trying to scam me out of money.

same here, just never entered the credit card info.  i figured it was a scam

Global Tel Link is a legit complany but horrible at customer service. They took money out of my account for calls that were not made.  I had the proof from my cell phone print out. They tried to say they have a cell phone policy that will not allow them to refund any service payments even if the calls were not connected, but they do this for people with cell phones. One person will tell you one thing and another will tell you another. You work for a horrible company that preys on families with a loved one in jail. We have to use your service to speak with our family who is in jail but in order to do that you have free-run of our money. NOT COOL

I've no one in jail & know nobody in jail but I got a call from 866-230-7761, letting me know there is "message from an inmate calling my cell phone number".
But when I picked up the phone, it's nothing more than RECORDED ADVERTISING & COMMERCIAL MESSAGES to endlessly keep pressing (SELECT) one button after another & keep holding the phone for the operator to respond.
Even after all calling back the number to confirm the authenticity of the ORIGINAL CALL, I still got the same RECORDED ADVERTISING & COMMERCIAL MESSAGES to endlessly keep pressing (SELECT) one button after another & SOME ONE WILL BE WITH YOU SHORTLY.

Exploiting the emotions of families entangled in the legal system, the calling company, GlobalTell is MOST likely OPERATING outside the US & most likely this PHONE NUMBERS are just another scum.

Report the FRAUDULENT number to the authority, FCC.

I do not know the source phone number of the call for certain but the above number was quoted in the message.  Recording only:  The end of a man's sentence, then recorded voice that time had run out on this collect call or I did not have collect call service set up for Limestone Correctional Facility.  The recording then provided Melanie as point of contact to establish a collect call account at 866-230-7761.
I don't know anyone in prison in Alabama.

Your an idiot!! Either someone you knew was in jail or someone in jail dialed the wrong number!! It's not a scam!! Maybe if a loved one of your was in jail you would look at this differently!!

There's a $50 charge from these guys on my credit card and I have no idea how it got there. WTF is going on here? Did someone use my card? How do I find out??

yes they are a phone company that allows inmates to make collect calls but they are far from legit take it from me I have been dealing with them for a while now and I have had nothing  but problems from them they block my direct bill account even though it current and up to date and everything is paid force me to switch to a pre paid account which I hate and then when i KNOW I have money on the phone they tell me I have none I have spent well ove 1200 dollars on this [***] since dec 11 and I cant get through to anyone In there quote on quote c.sr line I hate them with a passion an If u have ever delt with them u would to
