    victim of this scam
This is a scam and any1 that attempts to tell u it isn't or come up wit excuses for the company is part of that scam! They charged my DC 25.00 for services I never received from them nor have done business with them! Today 4 10 2010 is the 1st I ever heard of them when I called my bank! I suggest to any1 that has been a victim of their fraudulence to please contact their CC company or bank and change their card number! Please be aware in order for this to not be a scam they need all of your information as in those 3 to 4 numbers on ur CC or DC for security reasons! They only use the 16 digits on the front of your card! I know this because I was hit by them n I have my DC n they did it at 10 AM in the morning while I was asleep! Please don't fall for their lies! I don't know anyone in jail or prison so don't be a fool and get setup for the okie dok!

this company kept calling for weeks under anonymous numbers. finally it gave 8662307761 and i thought well i repaired my credit already but maybe i'll answer. so i answered but didn't say hello. after about 15 seconds i got some automated thing saying please press bla bla bla to set up an account. i hung up and called their customer service. i had to put in my number so they could call me back. when they called back over an hour later they asked me for my phone number and name which i thought was kinda funny, then they said the call was from an inmate in Fulton georgia i hope I haven't just been ripped off or scammed I was calling to get off their calling list they have been doing this for weeks

they have been calling me since yesterday and i decided to check online before calling the number. im glad i did. thanks everyone. the way to tell if someone is trying to contact you from jail it should say "(insert name), an inmate at cuyahoga county jail is the line, do want to accept the charges?" it would sound something like that. thats how it sounds when my cousin calls me from jail.

Global Tel Link is an actual company, I was employed there. As to all the complaints, previously being a rep I can tell respond to my first hand experience with most complaints.

    1. "You took the money out of my account but didn't put anything on my count." And that is my nice way of putting it. It was very seldom were people ever nice when calling in. The answer to that is, just like when you use your card at many other places, transactions are placed in a pending status. I had this very same thing happen to be when I made a purchase from Carol's Daughter. I'd placed an order, canceled it, and then placed another order. Because I know how charges work I didn't lost my mind when I saw two charges in a pending status because I know that once the merchant/ cardholder transaction is finished, the canceled charge will not go through. People fail to, in general, realize the difference between pending charges and actual transactions.

    2. Global Tel Link does not set rates so the complaints about prices are moot. Rates vary based on states and facilities and what they work out. Some facilities have low flat rates, others have per minute, some have out of state fees etc.

    3. They are not a scam. Scam is being thrown out here as improperly as the word racist. If you are not satisfied simply state that but let's not take our unhappiness to the extreme of lying.

    4. Global Tel Link does not call people. The automated message is set out when someone calls you and is letting you know how to receive calls as they can not leave voice mails to say they called.

    5. People should truly realize representatives have as much power as customers. They didn't put your loved ones in these situations nor do they set the rules or regulations so take it easy when you call in. You can get a lot more achieved by not acting a plum fool.

That happened often Esther and by law the company can not give out the number the account is set up with HOWEVER 9/10 out of once the police got involved, the people did know who used their card. Mostly grand kids and children wanting to talk to someone in jail. The card numbers are not on file, only the last and first four which are identical in most cases to hundreds of others.

They "Get away with it," because there is nothing illegal. Most of the complaints are because people don't understand how credit cards work or are pissy over rules and regulations (most of which are the institution policies, not the companies which is why they vary so) The company itself is legal and the best way to not have to deal with it is not deal with people who are commit crimes. People cry and whine about what it's costing them, what are your incarcerated loved ones costing tax payers?

Finally a person with sense. The cost are not created by Global Tel Link and some facilities even have flat rates. It is good to see someone who knows how to set up an account and use it. The stupidity in this forum is overwhelming.

This is a scam call. Donot put your CC number in. It will allow them to use it for things other than the intention of the call u received.
U will end up with either a huge phone bill or charges on your card that you did not authorize.

Its tax free weekend so they will be ordering tons online with your credit cards. Do not input your credit card to any of those calls!!!!!!
