- coco replies to Fraud| 2 repliesHi, I just read your message about the charge you got on your credit card from GTL. The same just happen to me. I never did any bussiness with them either. I don't even know anybody in prison. Could you please tell me if you found out what happened and how can anybody use your credit card if you didn't loose it?I am very mad and looking for an answer.
- TonyI just got a call from them. I called them back and told me to hold for a rep. No one ever came on. So it got my number and then said we will call you back within 2 hours. Am I going to get charged or something?
- boo.boo| 1 replyThanks for tall this information. I was checking into this repaid calls and was told to contact Global tell. They gave me the number 1-800-844-6591. I talked to a lady that told me that I needed to have my number unblocked or use a service provider like ATT, Srint or Verizion. She said It was a perpaid call service for inmates where I would have to pay them by credit dard and add number the inmate would call collect, then the calls would be charged to my account. It sounded fruity to me so I decided to skip the option. I noticed that the web site was spanish. Hopefuly this # will help others get with hte company, Ill skip this CO.
- BREEHUSKINS replies to kerri| 2 repliesYOU GUYS ARE ALL SO FULL OF [***]. YOU DO HAVE TO SET UP THE ACCOUNT. THE CHARGES DO NOT SHOW ON YOUR PHONE BILL. IT IS FROM SOMEONE IN JAIL. IT COMES IN A SEPARATE BILL. YOU GET A $100 LIMIT AND ONCE YOU HAVE REACHED THAT LIMIT. YOUR PHONE IS BLOCKED FROM GETTING CALLS FROM YOUR LOVED ONE WHO IS LOCKED UP. I HAVE BEEN USING THIS SYSTEM FOR 6 MONTHS. NOW. ONCE MY LIMIT IS REACHED THEN THEY SEND ME A PAPER TO PAY MY BILL. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE WHERE THEY HAVE PUT THIS ON YOUR PHONE BILL.. GET OVER IT. NOT EVERYTHING IS A SCAM.....
- CDub| 3 repliesThis is a scam this company tries to get your credit card information by saying an inmate at(fill in the blank with a jail near you)is trying to reach you. they bill your phone or otherwise rip you off.

- j| 2 repliesMuch the same I am afraid. Got a call from "unknown" caller. Voicemail stated that global inc and that someone from los angeles prison system calling me. called back concerned it may be a client. waited in phone queue. finally asked them call me back. they asked if I knew anyone in prison. i told them I was an attorney and instructed them to tell me who called me. they hung up on me.

- fLYgIRL| 1 replyWE HAVE REC'D SEVERAL CALLS FROM A "COBB COUNTY JAIL" FROM A COOKIE INMATE, OTHER CALLS HAD NO INMATE NAME. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE REVERSE OF A SEX LINE. YOU DONT CALL THEM-THEY CALL YOU. YOU PRE-AUTH YOUR ACCOUNT FOR ANY CALLS YOU GET FROM THAT JAIL AND THEY CALL YOU TALK ABOUT WHATEVER AND THEN YOUR CARD GETS CHARGED FOR THE CALL-$100 IF THEY WANTED TO. YOU PRE-AUTHROIZED.
DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRRRAP!- Caller: GLOBAL TEL LINK
- dflores replies to Kiki E| 3 repliesThis number is the local inmate jail phone provider. If you know someone that has been incarcerated and if they call you at a number that doesn't allow collect calls (ex. cell phones). Global-tel is a third party for the local jail area (in my case L.A.) who then calls you on behalf of the inmate, but of course for a minimum charge of $25 on your credit charge. Once your credit card had been validated they will transfer the call back to the inmmate who is trying to contact you.
Keep in mind though... if you are ready to take the inmates call, listen to the automated instructions very carefully. They will not repeat the same thing twice and if there is no response in a matter of seconds, it will hang up on you.
If you actually need to talk to their customer service the number is

- Esther replies to coco| 1 replyI received 4 withdrawls from my bank account credit card for $25 each from this company. I did not know what this was. They did return my call (GTL) and claimed that they do not have me or my credit card on file. (so they said).
I had to file fraud charges with the police and my bank refunded me the money. I cancelled the card and got a replacement. good luck to you. - Esther replies to SusanBlock your CC and replace it. You will have to file a police report in order for you bank to refund you your money. I had to do this. My bank refunded me my money within 5 days. I don't know how someone got my info but I filed fraud charges. Good luck.
- rita replies to nmbwhen i finsih started using this phone company i was thinkinh the same thing but they take $4.75 out of the money you but on there so donot worry is ok
- non-sucker| 1 replyInmate from Twin Towers, Los Angeles, is trying to call...Blah,Blah,Blah. Called the 866 number with NO intention of giving-up credit card info, but was interested to see if they would have a name of the 'inmate' who was attempting to call. Even if they did I wouldn't have given them any personal info. With the name (if it was someone I knew) I could handle things from there on my own. Of course they didn't have a name for me, I said since I didn't think I know anyone who might be in jail, I wasn't going to worry about it for now. He didn't try to talk me into anything; just said to have a good day. Trying to figure out the scam, but don't really care so long as I wasn't a victim, and no one else needs to be either.
