It's Gatestone - they do collections for American Express.  If you don't owe AMEX, they're trying to track down somebody who does, and hoping you might be able (and willing) to help.

Remember people these criminals are required to do certain things by law, but very rarely do:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Collect Corp. AMEX reference. AMEX never heard of them. Scam. Why can't this crap be shut down?  Block #. Don't know what these idiots want.

Did not recognize the number. 866 is a toll free area code so I assume its a telemarketer & after reading some of the comments made from other people, whoever these jerks are, they are pretty corrupt.

Add scammer to your pull down list. Starting to call more often. These slugs are so mentally ill!!

Called our office looking for someone that doesn't work here, also asked for his ex gf, whom has msged me asking about it too. it's a scam, they claim someone has a huge amount of debt, but we paid everything every month, there's no debt. this company is brand new, they bought numbers from someone else and are scamming you out of your money.

Try reading my other post.  Do you have anything other than the first part of the company name?

Apparently they are an international firm.

I called that number and the lady said they were located in Canada.  But that they had offices in the US and other countries.

Called about a $400 dental debt I incurred in 2011 that was PAID IN FULL after I got out of the hospital in June 2012. They wanted me to provide proof of payment, etc. I hung up and blocked them. Idiots.

You have been getting money every two weeks, & still harassing myself @ home & my husband at work! Do not call again. Will be contacting authorities if this does not stop!

This is a message board for discussing spam and scam phone calls.  We are not calling you.  Your caller almost certainly does not read here.

Do yourself a favor, read some of the other comments on the other 8 pages of this thread.  Apparently this caller is a scammer.  You probably need to stop all payments you are making to him.
