I never activated the service when I bought my new car.  Now almost 6 months later, the phone number kept coming up on caller id but never a message.  I just did an online chat session to be put on their do not call.  Rep said I would also not receive any snail mail.  Was simple but we will see if there are positive results.

I have never subscribed but seem to be the recepient of these 866-301-7344 calls simply because I purchased an automobile last Spring programed to "push" the Sirius radio.  We are weary of the disruptive calls and disappointed that our listing on the "Do Not Call' has failed to protect us.

Even if you have turned down the service you will still receive the calls.

Senior Citizens are put at risk when trying to get to the phone unnecessarily.  When we want a service or product we call you, not the other way around.

I don't want anymore calls from Sirus radio. It was a free service when I bought my Ford Escape. Once that free service is over, then I am not intrested in renewing.

Ah, that's good to know. I can list the number as Sirius on my cellphone, so I KNOW which call I'm avoiding.

It took an Act of Congress to cancel my service with Sirius. (They REQUIRE a customer to call for cancellation, I don't need the hassle, just cancel my service already.) I ended up having to switch credit cards to one that was about to expire, that way when automatic renewal was attempted, it would fail.

Sheesh. As bad as AOL was ... they REFUSED to let a customer go.

    To everyone:

There are reasons that these things happen. I actually worked for DialAmerica doing this, and while I'll admit that there are sometimes things that the company does that might seem dishonest, a great deal of the problem is because of miscommunication and the fact that people don't listen. Here are a few examples:

    1. People complain because they get called after requesting not to be called.

---We were REQUIRED to inform all customers that their number would be taken off the list as soon as possible, but that it can take a few weeks for the number to process through all of our systems. It has to be taken off DialAmerica's databases (multiple), which means multiple calling programs, multiple locations, and also has to be taken off of Sirius' database. This takes time. Most people hang up before the rep has a chance to inform them of this (note, we are STILL REQUIRED to read the whole verbiage, regardless of whether the person is still on the phone) and then complains when they are called the next couple of days. When the rep tries to tell them "We tried to tell you this could happen" what do they do? Scream "Don't call me again", again don't listen to what the rep has to say, and the process starts all over again.

    2. Sirius calls over and over again

--The ONLY way to get yourself to stop being called is to actually answer the phone and say "please don't call me again" if you hang up, yell that you don't want it and then hang up, or (my favorite) press the buttons on the phone to try to make the rep, who is just trying to pay rent, go deaf, the rep will have to put you back in the system because you did not request not to be called. Sorry.

    3. Sirius is breaking the law.

--Simply not true. DialAmerica is VERY careful about making sure that its employees say everything they're legally obligated to say. A lot of the times people don't hear or don't understand the verbal contract they're agreeing to, but with some exceptions, in which case the employee would probably be fired, everything is said right there during the phone call. Customers agree to be charged over and over on their cards. Reps say these exact words: "The plan automatically renews and bills and the rates in effect at the time of each renewal. What that means is that your subscription will continue until you call us to cancel. Ok?" And they then provide a phone number. And what do people say? They say "Ok."

    4. They don't leave messages.

--Yes, this is true and it's for a very simple reason. Most sales/fundraising companies do not leave answering machine messages. This is normal, and simply done because people never answer messages anyway and most sales come from a direct contact, so it's a waste of the company's time and money to leave a message.

    5. I told them I didn't want it and they keep calling me.

    --See #2

    6. Sirius is calling me even though I'm on the do not call list

--Yes that's probably true. But they're calling you as a company that you have a pre-existing relationship with which means the do not call list doesn't apply. When you signed up for that free trial, or you signed up for the service, you gave Sirius your phone number and agreed to Sirius Satellite Radio's terms and conditions, which if you bothered to read, I'm sure would inform you that you agreed to be called.

    7. Sirius calls and then hangs up/Sirius' phone number comes up as unavailable

--This is a quirk of technology. The call centers that DialAmerica uses don't have a normal inbound/outbound phone line like the one you'd have at home. Most people expect that the guy on the other side is sitting with a phone in his hand at a desk, but that's not true. They're sitting in rows with headsets, attached to computers, which are in turned connected to a single dialer machine that parcels out all the leads. Each computer has its own phone number, but it's not a number that comes up as Sirius because internally, it's coming through as one of 80 or so different connections. The reason Sirius hangs up when you answer is just bad timing. There's a certain amount of time that a caller will wait for a phone to ring before moving on to the next call. This is complicated by cell phones, which the caller will not actually hear ringing at all, but will just wait until there's a voice on the other end, or move on to the next call. It's just a matter of timing, you probably pick up the phone right when the caller is disconnected and moving onto the next person. It's just something that happens.

    8. "I'm supposed to have a free trial!"

--They won't tell you this, and I hate to break it to you, but -- chances are your dealership stole your free trial. Think about it-- they have this nice car that gets a free trial subscription, and people want to take it for a test drive, wouldn't it be nice for them to have some Satellite Radio while they're testing the car out? The car sits on the lot for a few months and you either get a shortened trial, or you don't get one at all. Sirius can do absolutely nothing about this.

    9. "Sirius renewed me even though I didn't want to be renewed!"

--When you sign up for Sirius, you agree to be automatically renewed in your subscription. The script on the phone goes something like this "Your plan will be so and so dollars, which includes these fees and taxes. Your subscription will automatically renew and bill at the rates in effect at the time of each renewal. Ok?" And the customer says "Ok." Contract signed, you've agreed to be renewed automatically.

FYI, if you get one of these calls and you want the deal but you have an issue with automatic renewal, don't freak out. If a customer insists, Sirius reps can totally turn off the automatic renewal option. It's not a big deal. At all. It's like one mouse click.

    SIRIUS XM RADIO. 866-301-7344

As everyone else has reported, they are telemarketing to get you to sign up for their service after your subscription expired.

Also on the DO NOT CALL list here, but they wipe their a** with that and call you anyway.  they will not leave a message.
