These people are what is called scammers they look for people off of craigslist and the local merchandisers and auto trader and try to scam them into selling their cars like they can help , Craigslist warns about these people you can report them to your local police departments or local authority like the attorney generals office. People that work there leave false information about who they are to get the caller  to call back this company is not a legit company i called the BBB and they have never heard of these people and  the web site is a half fast web site to be a member yes in fine print to buy a car or to sell a car they want money. Craigslist warns people about scams they can not stop it but the people sticking the ads on should be smarter then that.

I would contact your local cops about this company.They are trying to scam inocent people i feel sorry for you  and i hope they get what they deserve to be put out of business. let the people come to a company not a company trying to scam for customers.

during the summer, Irecieved a call from automarketing systems about selling my car. Isent the moneytothem and never recieved a call from them. when i tried to call them , i could not reach anyone. Iwaited the time i was supposed to wait and i had the receipt notarized and did everything that i was told to do. Ithas been over a month since i sent the papers back and i havent heard anything from them. I am wondering if this is a scam, I will probably never get my money back. This is so wrong that people can pull a scam like this. Iknow there are a lot of people getting ripped off by this company.

I would like to take the time to further discourage the use of Auto Marketing Systems. I share the same story as the majority of those who posted on this message board. Last fall, I posted a car on craigslist for sale. Within a few days I was contacted by this company. Curious, I called back to seek assistance with the car selling process. The representative I spoke with was kind, however, unbeknownst, provided me with false information. They told me that there was a bunch of buyers interested in my car. Apparently that was false considering I was never once contacted. I signed up, gave my information. I followed every step of the procedure, even lowered my price throughout the 90 day selling process. I got my paper notorized and sent it out on the exact day (please take in mind this was mid November. It is now almost February) that the period ended. Luckily I made copies and sent it certified mail with signature upon delivery. I have been keeping detailed records of this entire process because I didn't know about the fraud accusations against this company. I have a record of every single time I have contacted them as well names, times, dates, and what was said during the conversations. Back to the refurnd claim. It wasn't picked up until 2-3 weeks later. Because it was post office marked for the day and I have complied with all of the terms of service, I figured that I would get my money back right? Wrong!!!!! I am no far beyond that time in which my refund was supposed be given and with no refund whatsoever. I've been calling every other day "checking up on my refund". So far, I've been sent two customer complaint forms, which apparently is a new prequisite to my money back. Funny, because that wasn't mentioned in the terms of service. However, I filled out the customer complaint form and still nothing. I have contacted an attorney regarding the Auto Marketing Systems violation of their terms of service. Thankfully, this site also provided me with some helpful additional information in which it appears that they also violated federal law as well. I will save this page. If anyone is aware of a class action suit against this company, please get in touch with me. I am setting up an email address soley for those who are interested in pursuing justice. I was contacted by these people and my scam radar went off!! Checking for complaints online, there are TONS of dissatisfied people who have to fight to get their (partial) refund. I've yet to read of anyone's positive experience with Auto Marketing Systems. For me, I'll take a pass.

Yes, every time I have answered an "UNKNOWN" call in the last week I've been hung up on with a distinctive robocall beep ad the end of the call just before it disconnects.  Today I let it go to voicemail and it was Longwood.  Same distinctive beep at the end of the voicemail.

I did not even have my car posted on Craigslist.  Instead my car was parked at a major hub of an Airport as my husband who was away on a mission for the military left it there for safe keeping.  As the car was at the airport someone from Auto Marketing Systems called me claiming to have seen the cars ad as well as my phone number on a local Craigslist Ad.  I informed them that this was untrue and I was taking care of the sale of my property myself.  I was uninterested in their unsolicited help and, there is always a catch to these "Systems" that search out  people to get you to allow them to help you.  That is just the way it works, unfortunately by the time you find out how much you are out, the deal is done and there is not much you can do about it.  I told them to remove my phone number from their calling list as I do not deal with solicitors and especially one's who are dishonest in the way they gain their information.  The woman took offense to my comment.  I said "Madam you started this conversation by telling me you obtained my information through a Craiglist Ad, that was a lie!  I did not have a Craiglist ad, if you are going to lie about how you got my phone number and vehicle info.  you will lie about other information too.  If I need to caal the Attorney General I will."  She hung up on me.  Since then these people have left a voicemail message stating the same exact information. . . Craighslist Ad.  And they just called me again.  I still do not have a Craigslist Ad.  These people are unscrupulous, they get information any way they can.  Protect yourselves and turn them in to your local Attorney General!!!

I have also just received a call from them on my cell phone. I called back and when the young lady realized that I was onto their shady practices, she hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on again, before even saying "hello." So, I called back again and a different young lady answered. After giving her my cell number, she told me they found that I had a motorcycle listed on craigslist. I informed her that I only had a motorcycle PART listed on craigslist and that they were in violation of craigslist policy since my ad stated that it was NOT OK to contact me with solicitations and that they were also violating other laws, including the Federal "Do Not Call List", etc. She claimed that they have been in business a long time and do not violate any laws, told me she would take my number off THEIR list and then hung up on me.

Google the name and you'll find PAGES of links with complaints about this company.
    
I just checked the VA BBB, which has this company rated "D" with over 485+ complaints.
The comments from the BBB as a result of their contact with Auto Marketing Systems, Virginia is very revealing of the way this company operates with disregard to policies, consumer wishes or the law.

They got my phone number off craig's list, despite "it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests". Roomie called them and said they would need money up front to try and rell his vehicle OR they claimed IF he sent them even more money their company would "Guarentee the sale" and buy his vehicle after 90 days for $1000 over the craigslist listed asking price if they were unable to sell u it. Yeah right, scam, so looked it up and YES, THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!

Two days ago I posted an ad on both Auto Trader and Craigslist selling my '09 BMW X3 (3.0i M-Sport Package w/only 26,000 miles).  Today I was contacted by Matt from AMS, as a busy professional and out of curiosity I called the 866 number and spoke to Doug who was very personable.  I asked him to email me their information, I looked it over and like any conscientious consumer I googled the company which lead me to this site.  Paul, there are a lot of disgruntled consumers talking negatively about AMS.  I don't understand, if AMS isn't a scam why are these people so angry and why do they all have similar stories.  Furthermore, why haven't their cars been sold and if not sold, why haven't they received the guaranteed refund as stated in the AMS agreement?  The term business is very lose.  While AMS may be a legitimate business, Paul I see a lot of rhetoric from you defending AMS but I don't see any actual answers that would lead me to trust that AMS provides any real service to me as a car seller.  Can you provide answers for me?

I have had my car posted with AMS for over 2 months and have received zero contacts about the car.  I have received plenty of contacts from Craigslist (free) and Auto Trader ($25).  So far I am very un-impressed with AMS...

I'm so tired of all the complaining. All you have to do is pay for our services and we will take care of everything. All of the complaints, with the exception of a few, are totally fake. It must be one of our competitors trying to bash our reputation. We work so hard to sell your cars, all for a cheap $199. This is NOT a scam. I repeat this is NOT a scam.

Through an agreement with Adventis, Inc., a commercial call center, Longwood Industries offers automobile Internet-Web Advertising under the name Auto Marketing Systems. Consumers report that after placing an ad in a newspaper or on the internet  to sell an automobile, they are contacted by Longwood Industries to place a similar ad on the internet. The firm offers a non-refundable ad for $149 or, a refundable ad for $249 of which $29 is non-refundable.  

Customers must follow their cancellation policy exactly. The firm's cancellation policy states that a vehicle photo must have been provided within 14 days of enrollment; the required cancellation form must be postmarked within two weeks after day 90 of enrollment and the cancellation form MUST be notarized. Fax, email and phone requests for cancellation will not be accepted. Consumers may wish to return the form certified for proof of receipt.
