Jimmy, I address your first question in a different response below.  To address your second point ("If they have buyers..."), we often DO have buyers, and for those we vehicles we don't already have interest for, we spend much of the money our customers pay to go out and purchase leads; that is, we purchase names of people who are looking for a vehicle that you are selling.  People are always buying and people are always selling - our goal is to take the WAIT out of the whole process and aid in a quick sale.

And it's true... if we don't have a buyer or find you a buyer within 90 days, you can cancel and get your money back, less a $29 processing fee.  And yes, lots of people have sold vehicles through us - unfortunately, they would have no reason to be on the internet looking for sites like this unless they, like you, were checking us out previously and plan to make the effort to come back and testify.  I hope they do!

I received a voice message from Allison whom left a toll-free number to call. She was calling from Longwood Industries and said that they were a 501C3 company. I was told that Longwood felt they knew people who would be interested in my vehicle and wanted to help me sell.

I don't want or need someone to do my work for me. If I want someone to assist, I prefer to be the one to choose to find them. I want to be the one to make that choice. Anytime someone calls and offers to assist you for a "small" fee, it's a sales call. It may be a "small" fee but those fees add up. Think outside the box.

Sold my car through them...  it took a couple of weeks, but it was worth the money since I hadn't gotten any response through my ads online or in the paper.

Why struggle when someone else can help you out...  especially if they are professionals?  You have a mechanic service the car, why not have someone else sell it?  I don't know, I guess I just don't have time for the hassle.

I have to ask... why would I post something different on a different message board?  In my introduction in an earlier post on this site, I stated that I would be using this message board AND others that I am aware of to address any concerns or questions that I found.  So I'm not sure how responding on another message board gives anyone the basis to call a company a scam.  Please use careful consideration when using words like "fraud" and "scam" even when describing your discontent online.  You haven't even described why you feel this way.  
AMS is not a scam.  It is a legitimate organization actively seeking to help people buy and sell used vehicles.  We have great people working here and unjustified posts like yours can put their livelihoods in danger.  Again, please think about what you're about to say before you post - especially if it's a complaint.  Thank you.

To Ms. I'll do it myself: Please excuse the call made to you offering our assistance.  I, too, like to do my own research most of the time.  We appreciate any consideration you might give our service in the event your own methods don't get your vehicle sold.  Based on your message above, I think you would like the ways we think outside the box when it comes to marketing your vehicle and backing it up with a guarantee.  Until then, we wish you luck in the sale of your vehicle!

Of course its a scam! Prove to me that you have satisified customers!  Not the same line of crap, cant give you their info. Why, cause they would tell the truth and tell me what a scam you are!  Sell my Jeep by the end of the week, you have buyers lined up......what crap!!  Stay off craigslist!!  Its for honest people!

Elena, it appears you are basing your harsh judgment on a voice mail and a few unsubstantiated statements you've found here.  I can only encourage you to call and actually speak with one of our representatives about the service (and perhaps try it out) before posting false allegations of your own.  I understand it's difficult to know who to trust these days, but you also can't believe everything you read.

I'm attempting to see through the intensity and emotion of your post, but I feel like I have already addressed the concerns that lie within.  Forgive me if I repeat myself, but I also don't want to ignore your post.  
First, we're not a scam.  If you'd like to know that we are a legit business, the fastest way I could recommend is by using GuideStar.org, which is self-described as a complete source for information about U.S. non-profit organizations.  Go to their homepage and do a search for Longwood Industries, among 1.8 million other I.R.S. recognized organizations and you can find a brief report for free.  If you register, which is also free, you can log in and you will find that Longwood has been serving as a sheltered workshop in Bedford, VA since 1975.  Longwood has a registered DBA of "Auto Marketing Systems" (DBA stands for "does business as").  Longwood has many branches of service, hence the more appropriate name for the branch that assists private parties with the sale of their used vehicles.
Second, we simply cannot bill people for our services -- we've tried it and people don't pay, and we're not interested in creating a division of our business for "collections." It just doesn't work.  
Third, we have access to A LOT of people who are interested in purchasing a used vehicle.  What is so unbelievable about that?  People buy and sell used vehicles all the time and we make it happen faster -- it's what we do, and yes, we CAN guarantee it.  We can't guarantee it to sell by the end of the week, which you reference, but we can guarantee to sell it within 90 days.  That being said, if it did sell within a week, it wouldn't be the first time.
Fourth, I could offer you testimonials from customers all day long, but they would be of no use to you.  You would clearly not believe that any of them were legit either.  Even if I offered you names and phone numbers, you'd think it was a set-up.
Lastly, we would in no way discourage you from continuing to use Craigslist.  As a matter of fact, I would encourage you to use as many means of internet and traditional advertising as you can.  The free ones are easy on the wallet in tough times, but you also get what you pay for.  Good luck with whatever you choose!

I think the point here Paul is that you are using Craigslist to solicit customers when each and every ad on Craigslist states:  'it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests.'

you know that feeling you got once or twice during a conversation with any cold call for helping or service . im going to wait selling a fine sport car at good price the buyer is outthere and has my info becareful watch the news and meet all buyers at an open bank walk in front of cameras and be protective of yourself and all investments being cautious is good at all ages dont second guess yourself for goodness sakes

I have had two different calls from 1-866-326-0949 from someone named Brad. Today I called back and talked to Judy. She was a very nice young lady and answered all my questions. She sent me info via e-mail, which includes their web site. I checked the web site which was very professionally done. I also did a search on the internet and was pointed to Kelley Blue Book, which contained an ad for the company. All and all it sounds legit and if they check out with the BBB I think I will give them a shot. With the money back guarantee, you only stand to lose 29 bucks, which I think is worth the gamble!

they called me as well about my bike, if there is so many buyers within driving distance and so intrested then you can sell it yourself, def seems like a scam goodluck though
