was on the phone with my daughter, our conversation was interrupted with a message from 866-429-3591 saying they were attempting to collect a debt. If that is not against the law it should be. If anyone knows please reply. It was a recorded message.

by law they can call up to 3 times a day but are only supposed to leave one message

maybe you should pay your bills

you can sue and win. Read the fir debt collection practices act. The rules are very rigid for 3rd party collectors

they would only be able to update your credit as settled in full if you paid less than the actual debt owed

Its a company called "PORTFOLIO RECOVERY". They keep calling and asking for someone named Vanessa D. I told them that I have NO idea who that is , but they keep calling AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT!!!!

Its a collection company called PORTFOLIO INC. or PORTFOLIO RECOVERY...they call at all hours all day INCESSANTLY!!!!!!

Just purchased this phone at&t service and received this call from a dept agency. I also have no debt. Some one should stop these creaps from harassing any one.

I am constantly getting calls and voicemails from these [***], and they are so annoying.

I received a call for the first time two weeks ago.  Since I didn't know what the call was for and they asked for me, I called back.  They tell me that they are looking to collect on a hospital bill for my son (who's 5) from 2007.  I tell them I have no clue what they are talking about and asked them to send me something in writing.  The woman on the phone kept asking me to pay the bill.  Once again I asked them to send it.  That was the end of that call.  They keep calling so I called back again and informed them that they need to stop harassing me and that I would call them once I reviewed the bill.  The woman on the phone told me to pay my debt and they would stop calling.  Then I asked for a manager.  When the manager got on the phone and I try to explain to him what's going on, this lady is snickering on the line.  I finally hung up and called the hospital where this bill supposedly came from.  After spending 30 minutes on the phone with the rep from the hospital she couldn't find anything at all outstanding.  These people are scam artists!!  Again they are still calling every day and I'm fed up!  How am I supposed to write to them to stop harassing me when I have no idea who they are??

Also have been receiving phone calls from this number for about a month now.  When I call back they say they don't have my number on their list and will remove it though they never do because they keep calling back.  Funny thing is today they suddenly found my number but the person they are looking for I've never heard of.  Told them that but I dout that will do me much good.

demand proof of the debt for the services they provided you for the debt to incur

(tell them) this is nothing more than harassment & unscrupulous practice
which is a violation of the fair debt collection practices act
and that you  will be filing a lawsuit against them.

I signed up the number on a few uhh... "websites of ill repute" some wouldnt accept a 866 number but three did! lets hope some junk calls cause some sort of conflict with their junk calling equipment

They are simply hoping that you will give in and send them money or give a CC#.  They know you don't owe anything to anyone.  It's like spammers sending emails claiming to be from your bank and they need to reset your password for some reason.  If they send out enough of them, surely some dumbell will give them their password.  That's what these losers are doing.

They say they are a debt collector.  I do not owe anything to anyone.

Have received at least sixteen (16) calls from this number recently.  It is always a recorded message asking for a return call. (They should live long enough)

Asset Care has been harrassing us with phone calls day and night.  Only a recording comes on if we pick up the phone.  I usually press the # sign several times to cut them off.  Sometimes they get through by leaving a message on my voice mail.  We don't owe any bills that are over 10 years old, and that is the purpose they are calling us.  Please help us to keep their calls from coming to our phone.

They kept calling me for about two months- I finally called back and they told me they were a debt collector for Affinity Health Systems, who I have not done business with ever.  When I inquired what it was for, they hung up.  Then I received another voicemail from them and requested I call back and talk to "Mrs. Murphy."  When I returned the number again, they tried to get personal information from me.  When I refused, she became argumentative.  I told her I was reporting her and then she said that she would remove me from their calling list.
