This is a fraud detection number. I was suspicious so I called the number on the back of my credit card. Before I even told them I had received a phone call, they asked me to approve a couple charges. No worries here.

I can confirm that it's Citibank's Fraud Dept.  They were calling to confirm some charges that apparently seemed suspicious.  You do need to respond to this or they freeze your card to make sure it's not been stolen.

Definetely a good number!  Citi fraud team discovered someone placed over $600 worth of charges in a 3 day period, on a card that I used to solely pay one merchant (overseas), once a month, appx. $50 a month.  Obviously they sensed something was wrong and called.

Pretty sure this is real.  I hung up, called the number on the back of my (Citi) credit card, and as soon as they heard my account number they asked me about a few recent purchases.

I just received a call from CitiCards's Fraud Department.  They asked me to verify my account by giving my name, account number, and password.  I refused to give them all that information.  Is that even legal?

So I hung up and called the number on the back of my card.  They asked for the same "security" questions!  I don't feel safe when they tell me that my card has been compromised, meanwhile, they are asking for my account and password.  Password should never be used as a security question!

Called back this number and Citi Customer Service answered and varified my mothers maiden name. I told the person about this phone number and they forwarded me to the Fraud department. There the person asked if I had just spent $17,000 on a trip to oxford England. I gasped and said NO. So I now have new credit cards coming within then days as the current cards are CANCELLED immediately. So the phone number is legit and Citi is on the job!

I received a missed call from this number so I called it back and spoke to Vee (if that is her real name) and she said she is calling to verify my citi card information so I informed her that I do not have a citi account and have never had one. I told her that I wanted my number removed from the system and they should not have my number since I do not have an account. I also informed her that I will also be reporting this to the better business bureau. She assured me that my number has been removed. We will see!

I got a call from 866-517-5348 on my cell phone. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message. I decided to research it on the internet and I found this site. I am so glad.
I called the number on the back of my card - and IT WAS Citibank fraud alert!
There was no fraud - but I am glad they are checking. I am just wondering why they aren't leaving messages? What if I hadn't reasearched the missed number?

I recieved a message from a number claiming to be citicards fraud protection wanting to confirm some purchases.  Suspicious I called the number on the back of my card which transfered me automatically to the fraud protection unit.  The woman asked if I made a purchase to an online school which I had never herd of. Then she was somewhat hard to get info from.  She then said " I assume you did not make three purchases to Dirt Devil"  No I replied.  She then listed off several charges to other online payments.  When I tried to get info she skated around my questions.  She canceled my card, and told me I would need to file a decloration. I immidiatly checked my account online. I did not see any of the charges she mentioned.  I later recieved the disclosure statement that she promised, however it listed no such business'.  I find this a bit suspicious.  anyone else with similar cases.

    Glad they Called
This is Citibank Fraud Department.  If you see this on your call ID, answer!  Someone had stolen my credit card number off my computer & had just made a purchase.  It's amazing how fast this company is in finding fraudulent charges.  They closed my account & issued a new card.  No hassle.

I think they don't leave a message b/c they don't know how secure your vm or answering machine is. Fraud can happen (unfortunatly) by people you know, or even live w/. So... they just keep calling till they get a hold of you and verify that it is you. If after a certin number of calls you still don't pick up they block the card and then you have to call them to see why you had your card declined.

Got two calls from this number over a two day span, but they didn't leave a message. Went online, searched, and found these forums, so I called the number on the back of my card, and sure enough, I was immediately routed to the fraud detection department. This is a legit Citi number.

This isn't a scam. It's the Citibank Fraud detection system calling to verify charges. It calls based on suspicious activity of ANY sort, not just gas, this or that. I count myself lucky that they are protecting me.
