I just received the call from them....I asked their name.......they said Windows best help...so I immediately started googling them........they wanted to speak to my husband...I said he wasn't there...this man also had a very heavy Indian accent.  He said they were receiving messages from my husband's computer..I asked them what my husband's e-mail address was...he got flustered and told me I needed to get it fixed.  I asked him what that would cost.  He said the check up was free.  I asked him how much it cost when they found the problem.  He said it depended on what they found.  I told him I had just googled him and people were reporting his company.  He got flustered and hung up.

Its a scam - they called my Mom who is elderly and just started to give her instructions as to what to do on her computer.  When I got on the phone he identified himself as "windows best help". I  started asking questions the guy hung up.

i have received 5 calls from the "Best Help Co" anti hacking dept.  it is ususually Harry Parker-he has an east indian accent and barely understandable and very rude.  He gave me the phone # 1-866-539-8674 and said his company name is Arjun Inc. and they are an internet security company and there is a defect in the windows product and there have been 50 computers hacked into in my area.  they have my address and phone # and call everytime i am on the computer!!  he wants me to follow his directions on the computer so i won't be hacked into.  press the window button in the far left lower corner of the keyboard and the letter r and then when the window comes up to type the letters he tells me.  I told him i think he is the hacker and he yelled at me-don't hang up!!??

Received a phone call this afternoon from "Windows Best Help". Apparently, my computer has been taken over by hackers!!  I did not fall for this, however, this "company" with a 866 # that is registered to the US Virgin Islands had a very thick Indian accent. I hung up and called the number back that they gave me and found that they got my information through lead generation. I'd be interested to find out how they got my information!

I have received two calls which actually came from the # 202-011-3341 (this number is invalid when I called it) but giving the call back # 866-539-8674. The first man was from India and when I said I'd have my husband call back he said they were trying to help me and that he didn't have time to do that as they had a lot to do. I hung up on him and he called right back. He later transferred me to Jordan who was also from India. They both said that my computer would be taken over by hackers if I didn't let them help me with fixing it.
I was sceptical, and questioned them, but they seemed to have answers. They said they were from Windows Best Help or windows something and that my ip address was flashing red on their end and that alerted them to the problem with my computer. I followed his instructions to a point. He had me count all the error and warnings recorded in the event viewer of my computer. I told him I would have my husband call him back and Jordan agreed. The last thing he told me was to turn off my computer and not to go on the internet.
Jordan called back this morning because I had not had my husband call.  Watch out.

This is what Microsoft has to say on their sight....

Call from "Windows Best Help".  Claimed computer had been hacked or at least that it was attempted.  Calling as a result of sending of error messages when internet website became "not responding."  Gave call back # of 1-866-539-8674.  I was too trusting.  Have since cancelled credit card used.  When they called back the next day they were a little aggressive, but when I said I had changed my mind he said they'd refund the money.  I'm not holding my breath.  Had a tech support guy here go through computer checking for malware.  He said it seemed clean.  Appeared to be mainly a phoney way to get money via credit card from a gullible person.  Attorney Gerneral's office confirmed that legit businesses don't make cold calls and ask for such information.

Just received a call from "Adam" at Windows Help.  Maybe said Windows Best Help but I couldn't understand him.  Same stuff as shown in prior posts.  I had heard of this type of scam before, and I meant to waste his time as he was wasting mine.  I talked to him for a few minutes and then told him he would have to talk to my husband.  I put the phone down for a few minutes, and then said he couldn't come to the phone right now.  He tried to persuade me to follow his instructions.  He said he would call back later, and I said my husband will call you.

I just received a call from the number above (866-539-8674) telling me my computer was being hacked and they were from Microsoft.  It was a foreign voice and I began questioning him, why would Microsoft be calling to help remove the hackers?  He tried to get me to go to my computer and he would tell me how to fix it.  Of course, not being "stupid," I didn't.  I asked him for the phone number so I could verify it and he gladly gave me this number.  Then, because I knew it was a scam, I decided not to call the number and look it up on the internet.

I got the exact same phone call, but I wouldn't let him go anywhere near my computer as I suspected it was a scam.  I asked for the phone #, took the information down so I could report it and hung up.  Don't EVER let one of these jerks on your computer.  Tell them you are going to report them and then do it.

Just spent over 20 minutes, pretending to be a clueless individual (I used to be in IT) and had them painstakingly walk me through opening my Event Viewer to use as "proof" that hackers are infesting my computer and stealing my information. They promised to protect my computer from these hackers and viruses if I pay them a fee with either VISA or Mastercard.  After telling them repeatedly and with great sorrow (ha), that www.ammyy.com and www.support.me failed to load and I kept getting a popup message saying that these sites are magically blocked for me (I was playing Solitaire and didn't want to be bothered alt-tabbing out actually), they got frustrated, and just said to give them my VISA card number then they can help me. I started reading out bogus numbers - and right away, they realized I was not sincere and got very angry with me for wasting their time.  I laughed, and the guys sarcastically laughed back. Amazing. I think the guy tried to call me back in anger, but I put up the anonymous call blocker on my phone.
During the call, I asked for their number in case my phone got disconnected and they gave me the 1-866-539-8674 number as a call back and at the beginning when they were making these hacker claims that I was under attack... I asked how did they know, and what information of mine did he ("Nick", the heavily Indian-accented person) have on me, to know that I was indeed, under-attack (he came up with nothing, then later, "Mike", the IT specialist, since oh-poor-me, I was having so much trouble getting the website to load).

I got a call from 202-011-3341 "name unavailable".  Eastern Indian accent advising me he was from Microsoft Windows and that there was a bug in my system effecting the memory in my computer. He said he would not access my computer, but give me some information to check my hard drive.  He wanted me to turn my computer on.  I said no and asked for the number to call Microsoft.  He gave me the 866-539-8674 number.  Didn't call it, just looked it up here.  I refused to cooperate with him at all.

Adam an eastern accent representing Windows as Windows Best Help 1-866-539-8674 has called my home 5 times so far. I wish the real windows would have the decency to step up and put a stop to this misrepresentation. they took me for 80.00 the first time. As I trusted Windows. It seems they mostly pick on the elderly.
