What do you do to fight this?  Did they validate the debt, the chain of possession?  If your debt is truly your and was only two years old, then you're probably scr3wed.

I can't vouch for the site these pages are on, but the articles are pretty spot on.  If you read the first piece, you'll recognize the tale.

also, for your info: It is not against the law for them or anyone else to try to collect on any legitimate debt, regardless to statute of limitations. They just cant use obnoxious threats, harrassment, etc. So be careful, if they take this to court, it is not THEIR job to bring up the statute of limitations as YOUR defense. If you ignore them, they can receive a default judgement in court. GO FIGHT THEM!!!! Especially if you have a decent lawyer.

Here are the other two BCN threads running on 800notes

This IS another scam!!  - 25 Mar 2009
They guy was George Raffino calling from BCN Financial Services.

They threatened me with a civil suit and that the sheriff would be out to serve me. I am divorced with kids, so I was upset and did the stupid thing and gave them my info. Then I read up on the Federal Trade Commission and found what they are doing is illegal. NOW I found out they are SCAMMERS! The name used to draw out money is Shepsu Financial Services. I googled that name and got this info:
    **********************************************************************
Okay...so here's the skinny. As you all already know, scam artists, scheisters, etc...
What you may not know is that all the Georgia filings are in arrears and in danger of eradication.
Also, although Lamont Cooper still has a current filing in New York for Emanee Development, Inc., it's now listed at 81 Pershing Ave, Buffalo NY. Name of the person at this address is(surprise, surprise) Donte Lee and business contact is J. Glenn Davis, Esq(who is also associated with the address). Hmmm.

    NOW FOR THE GOODIES!

Lamont's latest venture, with an initial filing of May 8, 2008 is:

    Shepsu Financial Services, Inc.
    One Heritage Dr
    Lancaster, NY 14086

According to a google search, the word Shepsu refers to "Enlightened African Ancestors".

    ***********************************************************************
Yeah I closed my account they have info on. DONT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!! HANG UP AND KEEP HANGING UP ON THEM IF THEY CALL BACK!!

You need to do more than just emails.  If you've been harassed about a debt which is not yours or one which you do not legally owe, then you need to immediatly send BCN a debt validation/cease communication letter via certified mail with return receipt service.  If they cannot validate the debt or refuse to do so, they must stop.  They are bound by law to do so.  BCN, while not a collection agency, is bound by the same laws as collectors.  They know this.

Other avenues are to contact the Charlotte BBB and lodge a complaint, you state's agency with responsibility for enforcement of the FDCPA, and the FTC.  None of these replaces sending the validation/cease comm. letter.  You must do this.  Read through this thread to find all of the necessary contact info for BCN.

Worst enemy...thanks for the post!  It is most useful!  I am always being contacted by numerous collection agencies for a person with the same name as mine.  I tell them that I am one of the 478 of my name in the United States.  That frustrates them! Then they always ask if the last four of my social security number are ____.  And of course, my last four aren't EVEN CLOSE to the last four the assume are mine.  So when my family started getting calls from BCN I knew it was suspicious.  I have a listed number but it took them a week to call me?

Again, I really appreciate your post.  Thanks!

Worst enemy--no further contact.  Changed home number and requested it be unlisted.  No other family members have gotten calls since.  I did locate one person in Houston with my name and same middle initial.  I thought about calling her and telling her to pay her bills!!  I will keep you updated on whether anyone comes knocking on my door.  Thanks for the BBB site!

Good to hear it!  It appears that both BCNCLAIMSERVICES.COM and BCNFININCIALIN.COM are both down.  In fact the DNS registration for BCNCLAIMSERVICES.COM is gone outright.  Hmm, wonder what's happened to them?

It looks like both of their websites are offline ( http://bcnfinancialinc.com and http://bcnclaimservices.com ).  I wonder  to know what happened to them.  Maybe some of the principals at our friends in Charlotte had to go back to take care of business in Buffalo, NY:

Found this listing for a business at that address:

    http://americantollfree2business.com/results.asp?BizSIC=738951&BizState=NY
    Black Member Svc Fundraising  716-892-3375
    53 Roslyn St
    Buffalo, NY

If you run Google maps search, it sture doesn't look like a place of business.  Also, there's no record of it's incorporation.

Found too are a political contribution from Black Resource Magazine using 53 Roslyn as it's address( http://www.elections.state.ny.us:8080/reports ... nsaction_code=F ) .

Judas researched that they moved to NY.  Interesting.  One post read about them being from New York...maybe it's true.  No more contact from them though. That was just nuts.  We had a post in the paper here in TX where there is a new scam.  They call you at a time when you would be "off guard."  This guy got a call from Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union at 1 in the morning.  They said they were calling from Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union and that there had been fraudlent activity on his bank credit card.  They requested his card number and the 3 digit security code on the back of the card.  He didn't give it to them.  He is the President of Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union!!!!!! (HAHA)  He knew his bank as well as NO BANK will call you like that.  He called the media to warn everyone and also suggested "Always initiate the call yourself. Never give information to a caller."  A good reminder for everyone!!
