- YouDontNeedToKnow replies to CAJUN| 1 replyAccording to FDCPA, you can not file suit on debt (in most states) after three years. Collections will be removed from your credit after seven years but the dept is collectible for up to TEN YEARS
- YouDontNeedToKnow replies to ChassidyThis is true. Once you start paying on it, it renews the collecible date. So if you have a debt from 2010 and you go and start paying it today, it's now collectible up to 2025
- That girl replies to CAJUNYes they can, it depends on the states limitations. I just got a call right now...
- ToddGot a call collecting debt for someone not at this number or in my household.
Remember, everyone! The FTC does act on complaints! Granted it can take a while but I've gotten wrong number debt collectors to stop before this way.

- Linda M.Had a call this morning when I was work. It was a recorded message stating a name and he has an important message. The person they were asking for may have been my brother but he hasn't had any debt from hospital claims that I know of. His bills should be mailed to my house and not the care home he is living in...hoping if it is mailed to the wrong place the workers will let me know of this fact. He is totally disabled and can not take of himself so this is why I wonder what they want. His name also is the same as our father's name but he has been passed away since 2009.
- We have your old number replies to Bailey ShawDo you owe lots of debts, Bailey?? Because we have your old phone number and get constant calls about your debts. So thanks for that.
- Stephen RossThis firm contacted me regarding a "valid" medical indebtedness on my part; The first individual and I made arrangements for the repayment in approximately ten (10) days. he placed me on hold. Then, another individual continued the call; making demands "over and above" what had just been agreed to (with the previous individual); became belligerent and arrogant, so I replied "Now, I'll send the payment when I get DAMN GOOD AND READY...and in the meantime, YOU ARE NOT TO EVER CALL ME AGAIN - FOR ANY REASON....and lastly: YOU CAN STICK IT IN YOUR EAR!!" I've subsequently made plans to pay the hospital directly; FREE OF the "encumbrance" MRS. OBNOXIOUS demonstrated in the latter part of the call.

- CeeJayTO EVERYONE THAT RECEIVED A CALL FROM 866-631-4680. Allow me to explain this to you without hurting anyone's feelings. This is a medical collection company called Medical Revenue Service. It is a 2ndary collection agency calling on medical debt, whether incurred at a hospital or a physician's office, after insurance paid out, with the exception of uncovered, out of pocket services. So, let's say you go to the hospital for a procedure. You have Blue Cross Blue Shield. Your deductible is $500 and it's not met yet, or, your copay is $125. Your total service charges are $5k. So, the hospital will bill your insurance, which will cover your bill, minus your deductible or copay. That's your, or patient, responsibility and your insurance will mail you an EOB (explanation of benefits). If you fail to pay it, guess what? It goes to the 1st round of collections. These collectors are nice. If the debt is still ignored by letters and phone calls because you simply don't recognize the phone number, then it's sent to a 2ndary collections, which is MDS Medical Revenue Service. At this point, being nice stops. As long as MDS follows FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act) and respects the laws in your state (calls 1 number between 8-9pm every 3 days; if you have 3 different numbers, they can call them once in a single day, but every 3 days unless the debtor gives them permission to call back, doesn't harass by calling the same number numerous times in a single day, curse or make fun of a debtor, must begin each call by verifying debtor by DOB or mailing address and completing mini miranda, if a debtor requests to no longer receive calls, MDS must block the number however collections will continue by mail) then MDS is not in violation and can call you. By law, they can't reveal the nature of the call without verifying the debtor first because of HIPPA privacy and personal information only the debtor can hear, unless the debtor approves someone else can talk to MDS. Also, MDS can speak to a spouse in certain states without the debtor's permission. If the debtor is deceased, then MDS will request a death certificate and proof of executor of estate prior to releasing details of call (it's the law). If you have a power of attorney, they will need proof of that as well. MDS can call your home, cell, office, next of kin, and sibling's number as long as they want until you tell the not to. My advice: pick up the phone and pay the debt because A) MDS represents the hospital or physician you originally saw and has your personal information, including insurance information if you have it and B) is the final opportunity for you, the debtor, to resolve the balance before it's reported to the credit bureau. Just answer the phone because it's a valid debt and your hospital provided MDS with the information!

- Brian| 7 repliesOk, this is for the folks that are angry, upset etc. about this type of call. A few things. This is a debt collector. They are attempting to collect on a debt that is incurred and are contacting a number that they are provided by the Hospital or Medical provider. It may be correct, it may not. In my case the person that owned the number previously had lapsed and I inherited the phone number and of course the full montage of her collectors. If the bill is not yours, simple inform them of that and they will take your number from the system. If the bill is yours and you wish them to stop calling but you are unable to pay, simply verbally tell them you with for them to 'Do not contact' you. This by law, is a measure that prevents them legally from contacting you either by phone or mail again about this matter. WIthout this in place they can and will contact you once a day every day seven days a week as long as it is in their normal business hours. It's not harassment even though it seems harassing. By the time it gets to Medical Revenue Service it has already been reported on your credit, or the credit of the person to whom the number used to belong.

- Wilma replies to Brian| 6 repliesSo you work for these crooks? I'm guessing you must work for these crooks, otherwise why else would you be here posting what you just did? They are calling me over someone's debt and I have told you repeatedly to stop calling because I am not that person. Yet everyday 6 to 10 times a day you call. Well let me tell you, you heathen, I have gone to see a lawyer, and he told me what to do. Next stop I will be suing you. I have already filed complaints about you at the CFPB, my state attorney general, and the BBB. You people are nothing but scum, trying to steal money from anyone you can. I just hope you try to put something on my credit record. That will be a lot more money in my pocket.
- CATYes, this is a debt collector or scammer trying to verify personal information to collect on old account. They have been call my job and I have constantly ask them to stop. The lady is very aggressive and nasty.

- MDS rep replies to Wilma| 5 repliesI work for them. I can assure u if u told an agent to stop calling your number they will remove it. Good luck suing MDS. We follow the fdcpa laws and that's why we are so successful. We are not crooks. You just think we are because in your mind all collection agencies are cruel. You think you should receive compassion and sincerity because you can't pay your bills. We simply collect valid debts for services received at a hospital or physicians office. The crooks are the patients that think they can not pay their medical bill. That's fraud. And that's why we report to the credit bureau. We service over 100 hospitals nationwide and collected over a million dollars per location in 2016. Just pay your bill at the hospital and don't let it go to collections then you won't have to worry about it
- Heinz57 replies to MDS repDoing some damage control SHILL? Wilma was last here in December-you're a little late aren't you MDS rep? And who would ever expect "compassion and sincerity" from someone who says "The crooks are the patients...."
