- TimYeah this a dirty debt collector. They called my cell and told them it was a company phone they still called so I blocked them. Well they now have called my dad three times now. I don't even don't live in Indiana. In Arizona you're not allowed to contact someone on their cell phone to collect a debt or when you state it's a company phone. Thugs on a phone, if I was you I wouldn't deal with them for the simple fact of theses dirty tactics used when calling.

Masquerades as a medical assistance company but is really a debt collector. Note that they have an office in Mumbai, India and Amherst, NY
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

MedAssist Web Site indicates that they are indeed a debt collector: http://medassistsolutions.com/healthcare-solutions/. It also indicates that it is a subsidiary of firstsource which also indicates that it is a debt collector on their web site: http://www.firstsource.com/contactus.aspx
They list addresses in Mumbai, India, and Amherst, NY, both known havens for criminal debt collection operations.
BBB page for firstsource lists an accredited business A+ rating, but they have 142 complaints and 1 negative review, meaning that they have paid enough money to the BBB for the high of a rating: http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... st-ny-47000806/

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/debt_counsel/first_source_advantage.html - Sir BedevereThese twits are still calling here regularly looking for someone who had our phone number OVER FOUR YEARS AGO. When we first got this number we received a whole string of debt collection calls looking for this same person, but they stopped after 6 months or so. Now it's started up again. I'm guessing the debt was a few years old when we first received calls years ago and it's now approaching the end of the statute of limitations. That would explain why the calls have started again: they know they're running out of time. I can appreciate their wanting to get paid, but how incompetent can they be that they're unable to do any better than a phone number this person hasn't had for at *least* four years?

- EdDidn't answer, left no message, Caller ID "Toll Free Caller". I've had this phone number for over 30 years and we have no debt, so there is no reason for a debt collector to be calling it. Therefore, this sounds like a scam to me.
- Mike replies to Debbie| 2 repliesthere is no such thing as a "stable" job anymore. learn to live cheap. for now, my budget is changing to whatever is based on minimum wage. bicycle is paid for ... no payments and they can't "repo" it. they can steal it but they can't repo it. My computer operating system is Linux which costs $0 along with all the applications and I can still watch Netflix, etc. no more credit cards for me ...
- Beth MorganlanderCalls an old job of her's on numerous occasions when we repeatedly told them she is no longer employed there. These phone calls from this call center are becoming harassing to our company
- Maria Ciganovichthey called my work number which I do not give out
- Caller: First source
- KayDebt collectors, however they call, wanting me to give them my social security number over the phone because they don't have that in their records, they also want bank account information over the phone, "it's too urgent to get this account rectified to send an itemized bill to me". Hmm, if I owe this debt, I have the right to know why and the right to an itemized bill. I'm not stupid enough to blindly give ss number and bank info over the phone. They refused to send a paper bill to me in the mail and will not disclose to me who they are collecting for. Then I guess they don't want to get paid.

- Brooke replies to DebbieIf you really have received that many calls in one day start keeping track with your phone records. You can sue them for that it's harassment. Recently a woman want to lawsuit against Comcast because they were calling her upwards of 10 times a day. Comcast was fined by the federal government $1500 per call. It went on for sometime and she ended up with somewhere around $300,000 I believe
