- RalphLots of paranoia on this thread...which is generally good. When in doubt, don't trust them.
Why not do what I did: if you have a B of A card, call the number on the back of your card. That way you're not calling the number the caller gave you; you're dialing the number YOU know as a real B of A number.
In my case it was because I had an automatic payment plan that needed to be renewed. Since I called the number I knew was accurate, there was no risk of any fraudulent stuff going on. I called to check it out and it was a reminder to authorize 12 more monthly payments at a reduced interest rate.
No scam, no government bailout conspiracy, no phishing, no spaghetti-strainer-and-tin-foil-wearing-on-your-head to stop the gub-ment from sending those radio waves from outer space. Although that would have been a lot more fun and interesting- Caller: "Card Services" contracted by Bank of America

- CatThe call was prompted by an online purchase. The automated system knew my phone numbers but did not know my zip code? I called my bank who is investigating this incident. Either way if the bank did not hire this "Security Company" to monitor your bank account they can tell you. My account is fine and the 'Security Company" in their automated message said there may be a hold on my account. If they don't know my zip code or information, how would they know if there is an account hold? Until I know different, they won't be getting anymore of my information!!

- Tina replies to RedcholeraThis is NOT a SCAM! This is a helpful agency! It will make you feel safe if you just ask them questions before you answer theirs>
- TammyI have received a call from this number 3 or 4 times in the last 22 hours. I called my credit union and found out that yes, this is their fraud detection center and no it is not a scam. When they asked me if I called the number I told them no, as I never had a bank call on my debit card purchases before. They gave me the direct line to the company, instead of using this number (I didn't want to talk to computer).
They verified my purchases I had made and declined one that I had not made over the internet. This is a protection service your bank provides and is there to protect you. However, I suggest if you receive a call such as this, call your bank to make sure this is a service provided by them.- Caller: 866-750-9107
- Crystal P(866) 750-9107 has called me 7 times today! On Sunday, really? Of course they call the day my bank is not open so I can't contact them. I'm really not that stupid. What I am wondering is if they will ever give up?

- HawaiiGot several calls on Saturday and Sunday of this week saying my account would be frozen unless I provided specific account information.
I hung up. - pygmymetalI received a call from this number at work today. It specifically mentioned fraud on my debit card.
My bank doesn't have my work number. I called my bank (credit union, actually) and confirmed the only transactions on my account were ones I had made and they told me they'd gotten a ton of these calls about 6 months ago.
Smells like a rat to me. - Not Stupid replies to RedcholeraSCAM!
- Joyce CooperThis number is legit for my bank San Antonio Credit Center. The Service Rep only wanted to know about the purchase, when did I use my atm credit card last, my name and address that's all.
She said she put a " hold" on my credit card at my bank and I would have to go an receive a new card from my bank. Thankful for this service! - EllenI received a call on my cell from 866-750-9107 and giving me a PIN Number to use and also about some fraud activity on my card. My bank does not have my cell number and the bank account is a joint account and they only asked for me and not my husband. I think if it was from my bank they would have said my bank's name on the message.
- Nese replies to NicoleThis number is NOT fraud; it is a number that your bank / credit union uses to "detect fraud" . . . that's what happened in my case. There were charges against my account that I did NOT authorize. My suggestion would be for you to contact your BANK FIRST and inquire -- that's what I did.
- RJust got it twice in a few minutes. I've got two bank accounts, one locally and one with BOA, and so I'm not sure (if legit) which of the two it was from. I called my local bank and they stated their service that contracts out always identifies the bank name, which this automated call did not. They also could not find any record of that number being the number for their fraud center. So, I dunno if this is legit or not. As someone said above, this is a 50/50 split. I'm not calling it.
- Caller: Fraud Detection Center
- ChazIt's legit. Call your OWN bank if you don't want to believe anyone here. That's what I did. My bank told me it's legit but they took care of me and I didn't even have to call the fraud center.. which is what they said it is.
- bigpurk replies to MattI am also in the navy, i looked in my account and nothing was gone they said I made a transaction for $400 but everything was there. They just want your info so they can say you made the transaction to them. Dont do it.
- k9They called me after I tried to buy something on eBay and was told that my card had been denied. I got a message this morning asking for me (using my nickname followed by my last name) to call them back. It was a horrible automated message, and managed to mess up the entire pronunciation of my last name. Then it said something like (in a f*cked up robot lady voice) "we are calling on behalf of ______LONG PAUSE______ *my bank*". I didn't call them back because they didn't even use my real name, but instead a name that I use on the internet for usernames. If they're employed by my bank, couldn't they just get my name from the bank?
Seriously, it's no wonder why people are sketchy about this BS. I mean if this is a legit agency/company/whatever, they need to use better calling methods. With all the stuff we have to worry about with people trying to steal our money, what do they expect?
If this sh*t is legit, that's great and everything, but I'd really appreciate it if our banks used the services of more professional companies than this bullsh*t.
The weird thing is I was able to buy a different item on eBay as well as pay for motorcycle oil at a local store with absolutely no problem.

- MJI have been getting calls from this number for the past month.
- Caller: fraud detecetion center
- SmarterThanThatCall your bank BEFORE calling the number back. I did and they said DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER BACK. They said if they wanted to speak with me, that a person from my bank locally calls me.
- Caller: 1-866-750-9107
- DezReceived voicemail from this number (866-750-9107) indicating that there were potentially fraudulent charges on my debit card. I called my credit union directly to confirm, and they confirmed that (a) they do use this Fraud Detection company, and their number is 866-750-9107, and (b) there were suspicious charges on my account (which happily were legitimate, and I was able to verify each of them), which triggered the fraud call.
Both the initial voice mail, and the service when I called them after speaking to my credit union, identified my credit union as the source of the fraud alert. Note that when I called the Fraud Department, I was not asked for any personally identifiable information (other than to confirm yes/no that I was me). The automated system read off the three suspect charges (date, location, amount), and asked that I confirm or deny the charge (again a simple 1 or 2 for yes or no).
So, if you get this call, and you are a Harborstone Credit Union member, it is probably legitimate. But to be safe, call your financial institution first. (Even if it's not your financial institution, it can't hurt to let your financial institution know that someone is trying to phish your account, so they can help you keep an eye on it. Proactive holds put on by the financial institution are easier to deal with than proving fraudulent charges and getting reimbursement...)- Caller: Fraud Prevention on behalf of Harborstone Credit Union
- CarolI got a call from them, they left me a message, they are legit, I just called my credit union and they told me it is a legit call to verify suspicious transactions on my account.
To be on the safe side I called my credit union instead of them directly. - Jay replies to MatthewYou are a stinking liar!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is a fraud and so are you.
