I received two calls from this number over the past two days, and it is in fact legitimate. I rarely travel and I recently purchased an airline/hotel package for over $400. The Fraud Detection Center actually contacted me to verify that the purchases were legit. The representative only asked me to verify my name and address and did not ask for any sensitive information (e.g. SSN, pin number, account number, etc). I verified that it was a legit purchase and they thanked me for my time.

Definitely call or contact your bank if you are contacted by someone representing this number.

This is legit. I checked with my bank and it was fully automated. It just verifies that a transaction was made and that you authorize it. Not all the world is bad.

got home 10/14/08 about 8pm and there was a message on the machine said to call back 1-866-750-9107 said fraud detection center and said to call to verify charges made on our card and gave a code number, called and never had to give account info, just click yes or no to 3 charges we had just made in the last three hours including one at walmart (seems to be a recurrent theme to the posts above).  we had our card number stolen online two months ago, our bank must have put our account on a watch list to prevent future unauthorized charges.  we also charged a lot over the weekend, must have looked odd to whom ever watches it...

It's legit.

All they ask is for your zip code to verify it you and then ask if you made the charge.

In my case it was a charge I did make.

They tried callin my government work phone. I work for the navy and I am going to report this to the proper athorities, i.e. NCIS, as soon as get back work on Manday.

I don't know what to think. Got a call from 866-750-9107 stating that possible fraud on my account...but doesn't pass the common-since test. Why a toll-free # which is hard to trace, Why no real person. My account looks fine, so I am going to wait until Monday and talk to my bank directly.
But it totally sucks that if this is legit they would do it like this.

Has anyone else gotten fraud calls in the past week? I did get a call from this number. I called my bank and there was theft on my debit card. I live in MA there are a bunch of charges in Texas to my account. My bank says that whatever is going on is HUGE and LOTS of people and lots of banks have been affected, but I don't have any other info. Has anyone else had any issues?

The call was a live person, she said that they are a service that contact any strange or out of the normal transaction. then it hit me; when l purchased my new checks l signed up for "Check fruad pertection." they were doing what l paid for. It is stamed on your check dummy but l was dummer, l called the Feds.

Don't EVEN believe this call - it is a phishing scam, plain and simple.  My financial institution DOES not call like this, especially on a Sunday.  I also have a fraud alert connected to my credit and any instant credit offers will be stopped.

Ok, I called these people and they told me they were legitimate.  Now, I'm on the phone with them and they are asking for my credit card information.  I DO NOT GIVE THAT OUT BECAUSE IF THEY CONTACTED ME, THEY HAVE IT ALREADY.  Phishing attempts are pure and simple calls to get your information, especially the security code number that lets the person on the other end (who you are buying stuff from) declare they are in actual possession of your card.  I'm currently on hold being transferred to the 'fraud dudes' - will see how that goes.
I DO NOT give out my card number and YOU SHOULD NEVER DO THAT unless YOU INITIATED the contact and know who you called (I don't know who I called in this instance).
I contacted the number my institution told me to, but did not give a number to them.  I was transferred to the fraud detection folks that asked me my name and only asked me to verify information THEY ALREADY HAD.
This WAS INDEED A VALID CALL and is what SACU uses when they are closed.
The charge was stopped, my card was cancelled and I will get a new one on Monday.

I still proceed with cautious skepticism as phishers have gotten pretty good.  I always urge caution and the people on the other end won't be nasty or not help.  They  understand the times we live in.

It is legitimate, I have guaranty bank and I got a call from them, I called the number on the back of my credit card instead. Once I got connected to the fraud department I told them the number that called me and they said that it was them. It is a 3rd party contracted company that handles many banks fraud departments. Its legit call your bank and they will say so, also you probably have had someone steal your card or money from it.

My apologies. As it turns out, THIS IS A LEGITIMATE AND HELPFUL AGENCY.

My credit union called me after I asked them to check this out and informed me that someone on the upper East Coast had tried to get money using my debit card number. I live in Texas. The credit union rep also said quite a number of card numbers had been stolen and were being replaced ASAP.

I got a call from this number,Since I wasn't in they left the phone number and a 6 digit pin. when I called the automated line wanted me to enter the pin, when I did it asked if I was the card holder once they asked me for my zip code I hung up and called both my banking institutions and neither one of them knows anything about it. Weird thing is they called me at work. Neither of my banks have that number listed. Its a scam!!

I checked it out for a citizen complaint of possible fraud.  Turns out it is a legitimate company that contracts with banks to help prevent fraud.

This number is LEGIT! After confirming ONLY my name with the teller, he proceeded to list off suspicious charges. I notified him that they were fraudulent and he sent a report to Guaranty Bank. I went to the bank the next day and my funds were reimbursed.

Legit call. I had made several purchases this week on my debit card and they were just calling to make sure that it was me. They never asked for my card number, just confirmed it was me, then went through the charges with me to make sure they were from me.
