@Jamie:  PLEASE...it's important....post the email address from which "she" sent you this bogus debt validation letter.  Who was the "she" you spoke to.  And also...was there any phone number you got for this company?  Please post any and all info you can!

To see exactly what they are required to send you in terms of a debt validation letter, go here:

    http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtml
(scroll down to the heading "The Right to Validate Your Debt")

This company is run by a bunch of thugs who lie and make threats but NEVER follow through on the threats.  They will even spoof caller ID to make you think they're calling from law enforcement, your local court, etc..

Don't fall for their illegal tactics.

@Jamie:  see my post above to your earlier comment.  Can you post the email address that the bogus debt validation letter was sent from?  Can you post the phone numbers you got that were associated with the company?

Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Received phone call from someone advising they have papers to serve me with and was given case number.  I am a legal secretary.  When I started asking the obvious questions I was given the phone number and name of company to call.  S/w a subhuman.  Was asked after being put on hold for a very long time to give them my last 4 of ss #.  I told them even though I was the one who called I was not going to give any information until I felt I was comfortable with this being a legitimate issue.  Was told I "HAD" to give them that information and I repeated what I said before I was told "then don't!" and they hung up on me.

866-697-3175 is the number I was given.

I have dealt with them. They are rude, condescending and over the top pushy basically bullying you into believing what they are saying. I was supposed to make a payment of $1,000 to help get rid of an almost $3,000 judgement they were going to make, they told me I had til Wed of that particular week or it would be sent to the courts for my wages to be garnished 25% per paycheck. I did not end up calling in because i did some research and found nothing credible on them. I did however find a lot of these types of messages, from people who had been mentally battered by these people. The man refers to himself as "Derrek Smith" I am sure he uses multiple names, all fake. He won't tell you the specific company name or will mumble it. I actually found the name RFA on my credit report. But RFA does not have a website, or any way to find out if they are legit. I have a friend in the BBB and she has also told me to avoid these people. Though I did not make that $1000 payment, I also never received anything from them either. For almost 2 weeks I got nothing from them, until today when I received a VoiceMail wanting me to confirm my address and that Id be home Friday to accept paperwork. HA yea, not scared. I hope you haven't sent them money, and WRITE DOWN anything he tells you. Hope it works out for you!

For your information "Angel" I got a call from them telling me I owed almost $3,000 on a debt that was only $566. I contacted the original person with whom I had the account and tracked it down, and the people holding it, were NOT suing me, and they had NOTHING to do with this gentleman, and I set up arrangements to take care of said debt SO, DONT JUDGE!

Janice - you are right to ignore them.  They are bluffing....they will not do anything.  Last year they said the same thing to me - that they already filed a lawsuit against me and I should wait on the paper work.  A year later....received nothing and never heard from them again.  They are required by law to provide you with a Debt Validation Letter.  They never do send the letter.  And they are all using fake names....they are nothing but thugs.

I received a call from Jake telling me legal documents were going to be sent.  He said the only way I could stop this was to call this number 866-697-3175 within 24 hours.  When I called the number a Jennifer Black answered and told me I owed 2,375.00, but it could be settled for 1,446.  She stated if I did not take care of this right now I could end up owing 5,000 dollars for court and attorney fees.  She also had other information on my debts which I later discovered, after follow-up research, she obtain a copy of my credit report without my consent. I'm in the process of determining what kind of recourse I have on this matter. After obtaining my own credit report I found out this call originated from RFA/Reliant Financial Associates. Watch out for this people.

Glad to have looked on the internet.... I  got 3 calls-also one to a friend of mine. Jennifer told me the debt was $ 6630.33 for HSBC. Gee I had only owed $ 325.00 last I checked. She did the same thing told me she would put the $6 thousand on my home loan. We do not have a home loan!!!!! She was going to put it on my friends loan. Said it was my address and they could do that. RIGHT ! I said try the Obama's loan on there home. She got mad and called me a few names. One man called my friend looking for me from a court house she hung up on him and he called her back VERY mad. Also had another man call he got mad when I tried to tell him I was working the streets and money was not to good right now. Yes he called me names to. Then there was Elaine who just kept calling me names and really never got out what she wanted and she hung up. They are jerks. Thank god for all of you and writing. I might have fallen for her. We need to stand together to stop people from going after what they do not deserve. Free hard earned money.

I fell into the same trap, of giving them money.  I feel awful about that!  I spoke to an attorney who told me I shouldn't have done it...but let's face it, the tactics they use are QUITE scary!

Heh...  They called again, yesterday.  Caller ID said "US GOVT," and left a message with 866-697-3175, with a case number.  I started to panic again...but then I thought, having been suckered once, I'd damn well better check the 866 number out first.  Sure enough, it was RFA/ RF & Associates, wanting me to talk to them.  Indeed, a little while later, this Julie person called and left a message, saying she wanted me to get back to her regarding the matter.  As if!

Council told me not to talk to these people, so I won't.  And I am soooo glad I checked this site, first.  I wish I had done that the FIRST time around.  But like council said to me, "that's life, that's how we learn."

DON'T talk to these people again.  THEY have the burden of proof.  THEY need to send you written verification of the debt you allegedly owe.

It appears that Global AG LLC traces to the same cluster of Wyoming LLCs filed on 06/29/2009 that connect to the Corona Scam California LLCs.

    KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
I received a call from this company threating me to have me served which is illegal. They buy debt and try to get you to pay more money then you owe. Before you give them anything follow the paper trail, call the original creditor and check your credit report to see how much you really owe and also that they bought your specific debt. If all points back to them, then settle the account, I paid only 20% of what I actually owed and they left me alone since.
Actually if the company owns the debt they can take you to court and can add court costs, attorneys fee and also interest of 10% per year. They are allowed to get a judgement on you as long as they have a license to operate within your state. Don't ignore them handle it but make sure you go about the right channels and get everything in writing.

I have been being harrassed by this group, RFA,  as well by a "Derrek Smith" .  The so-called debt they are trying to collect is for a product I ordered but then returned unopened.  I have proof of mailing and proof of their receipt of the product, but they say I still owe the $89 bucks.  When I was explaining I had proof of return, the gal on the phone was very rude.  I told her I thought she was being rude and she told me I had her mistaken for customer service!  When I tried to talk to the supervisor he was very rude too.  I do not owe anyone any money as I did not use or keep the product, and returned it to them per their instructions.  But they won't let up!  I knew this was a shady scam!
