Another annoyed person
The same crap. They called me three times this morning the said they are collecting for the city of Richmond Hill. I told them that they got the wrong number, but they kept calling anyways. When I asked them to put me on 'Do not Call list', they said that they don't have one. WTF?

Leave me alone!!!
Visit the website below to add your number to the national Do not Call list and/or to make a complain about this company.

Anybody can have access to your police file/tickets in Canada, especially in the west Coast. The government has been made it public, for free or small fee. Your name, DOB, and other personal information is on there... If this "collection agency" is real, they have to send you a statement with the amount you have to pay, or the account/ticket number of your debt. They should already have your address, if not, do not give it to them. If it is a civil matter, you can pay it at the city hall or police station. If they say you dont owe money then you know this Icor Company is a scam.

This number was calling me non stop, the messages were just an obnoxious buzzing noise and when I'd call back it would just be silence on the other end. I finally called back from my work phone and got an answer. They asked me for my phone number, I gave it to them, they told me that someone by a name i'd never heard of before owed money and that they are a collection agency. I explained that I'm not that person and that they must have the wrong number, she took my number off their list and I haven't heard from them since.

All in all it wasn't the worst interaction I've had with a collections agency.

I'm only 17 years old and this number calls my OWN personal cell phone, not my home number. They call multiple times a day saying I have fines on something but that is impossible because my parents pay for everything and I don't buy anything.

Options available to you if you feel you are being harassed:

When you are considering filing a complaint against a collection agency, it is important to be properly prepared with all of the necessary information. You should ask the collector for the registered name of the collection agency, the full name of the person who is representing that agency, and what their collector identification number is. All of this information, as well as a documented account outlining the conversation(s) pertaining to the alleged harassment, should be written down for future reference.

A formal complaint can be made through the local Ministry of Consumer and Business Services office. Their phone number is available in the phone book in the Government blue pages. Should an investigation prove that a collector is acting outside of established guidelines, they may have their licence revoked.
You can contact the Marketplace Standards and Services Branch for more information on collection agencies. 1-800-268-9768
Information and complaint forms are available on the Ontario Ministry of Consumer and Business Services web site. www.cbs.gov.on.ca
Contact your local Legal Aid office. 1-800-495-8180
File a harassment complaint with your local police department.

Haven't looked them up yet, but they also said it was regarding an important matter with my husband and couldn't tell me due to privacy laws. They started clling at 7 o'clock this morning and called 3 times between then and 9am. I told her this is my phone number and not to call it unless thye tell me what it's about. He does have an unpaid ticket from Brampton, but City of Brampton is sending the letters......

I have been recieving calls every day from ICORE Canada or is it IQOR Canada, ( not sure which one). When I answer they say hold and then nothing. As I read all the complaints I have been having the same experiences as all the rest and want to advise who reads that there is a way of dealing with them. In Canada you can get paid for for dealing with this type of harrassment. First go along with them if they say you have a bad debt or whaere it is they are wanting. Get their address and Proper spelling of the company and a person's name that represents the company and another more direct phone number other then the 1-800 number. Also get the name of the person who answered the phone if you are so lucky. Remember it is important to get this information so be nice and accomidating with them to get it and REMEMBER, no payment or other important information over the phone it must be mailed. Once you have that informaton send them a registared letter indicating that you are demanding that they stop calling you and to strike your name and phone number from their list. If they do not, you will charge them for your time is dealing with this issue and if not paid you will take them to small claims courts. NOTE: the courts in Canada have already set presidence in this matter (columbia house has been found guilty more them once and has had to payout money to the person who did this).

I am charging them a minumin of $60/phone call recieved from them. This charge is to cover my call back and dealing with either the waiting for no answer back or a the persons conversation about instructing them to stop calling. KEEP RECORDS of each phone call, Time, Date, Their phone number and names of everyone you spoke with and always try to get an address for communications and at the end of each conversation instruct them you are billing for your time as instructed in your registared letter to them dated on such a date.

Know the process of small claims court in your area and have fun making some extra cash. Think about it in one month you could bill them $1800 min for just one phone call a day. If you are not wanting to go to small claims court yourself hire a student lawyer who can earn some extras cash to help pay their way through school.

Important Notice. do not be sneaky, you do pay not over the phone, you must have an address to further communications and most importa keep accurate records for billing purposes and to meet their challenage in curt when they refue to pay...believe me they will refuse to pay you but not to worry you have the courst on your side. If they refuse to cooperate with you in giving you contact information then they are pushing the limits of the law and can be investigated under the fraud and corporation legislation of Canada. You can then take them to the police or comsumer and corporate affairs.

IQOR Canada

This number has appeared on my "missed calls" log for several weeks and this morning they called our house at 7:35 a.m. I missed the call and they did not leave a message. When I called them back (to say the requisite "Please take our phone number off of your call list" and "Why in god's name are you calling a residence before 8a.m.???" a very rude woman insisted she speak with a Mark G*****. Same last name as my husband (and what our phone would be listed under) but not the right first name. I asked her to identify the company and it sounded to me like she said iCoke Canada, which threw me through a loop - why the heck is iCoke Canada calling at 7:35 in the morning???

"Is Mark is grave danger?" I asked her. "Does he work for you and hasn't shown up in two days? Has he won a million dollars? Why are you calling for someone at 7:35 in the morning?"

All she would say in return was "It is very important we speak to Mark G*****. Do you know a Mark G*****?"

After I said NO, I used a few choice words and hung up on her.

I looked the phone number up online when I got to work and found this thread. I called them back and asked the man who answered the phone to spell the name of the company, and his name (Geethika). I asked him how he got our phone number and all he would say in return was "It is very important we speak to Mark G*****. Do you know Mark A. G*****?"

At this point I admit, I freaked out on him a bit.

"No, we do NOT know Mark G*****. He does not live in my house and I have no idea who that is. STOP CALLING US. TAKE OUR NAME OFF YOUR LIST AND DO NOT CALL US or I will report you for harassment!"

Geethika got snappy and defensive with me (I can understand that, I did just call him and lost it over the phone) and said "This is the number we were given but I will mark it on your file."

Hardly. I highly doubt some random person we DON'T KNOW who happens to have the same last name as my husband just looked up our number and gave it to this company, or whoever it was that hired them to track down past debts. IQOR Canada must be trolling through the phone books and calling up people with similar names and harassing them until they hit on their target.

Get angry folks. This is harassment and it is not allowed in Canada.

Know's the Ropes
ICOR is a collection agency - often pursuing Student Loans - you cannot stop them by registering on Canada's Do Not Call list as they are NOT a telemarketer.

There are specific rules regarding telephone calls from collection agencies in Canada.

1. They cannot call you until they have sent you a letter demanding payment.
2. They can only call you 3 times during any given week.
3. They cannot call on Sundays or Stat holidays.
4. They cannot call before 8 in the morning or after 9 at night.

There are other rules. Google or Yahoo Canada's Collection Agency laws.

If you do not owe the money (or do not wish to pay) ask for an address and send a registered letter denying the amount claimed and asking for a court proceeding. No collection agency will take you to court over an old debt - it's too complicated and expensive.

Do not make any payment to a collection agency - a small payment made for a supposed parking ticket(?) may actually be recorded as a payment against an old debt from 30 years ago which will renew the debt as current for the next 6 years and can ruin your credit rating.

Be aware.

Booda
They have been calling me twice a day now too, and the calls sometimes come in at 7am, even on a Saturday morning.......those piss me off. So I answered one of them. Unpaid parking ticket!
Which I never had.
So, luckily they are calling my iPhone, I created a contact called "douch bags" with all of the numbers that they use. I then created a silent ringtone, applied that to that contact. I now hear birds chirping at 7am on a Saturday. and when I check my phone, I delete the message. The war of attrition is now a technology one!

Keep calling [***], you will be ignored forever!!
