I checked with RBC and they cross referenced it. It was a legit phone call from them, but I'm still shaky about the whole thing since it didn't sound like the usual AI they have for their lines. If you gave them any info and are now having second thoughts call RBC right away and get them to cross reference. They should have made a log if they did indeed try contacting you. According to them, they did in fact call me, so my mind is at ease but I still feel sick, as though I've been frauded just now. I didn't give them my account# but confirmed things through postal code, phone number and address I think. Whole thing was suspect to me, again, I'm still paranoid about it despite the guy confirming it was them. It was regarding not paying a minimum balance on credit card, which I did, but disputed just yesterday so the timing seemed legit for them to call at I am STILL waiting to get through to the security team about taking off these fraudulent payments that triggered this entire fiasco. What a joke. Been on hold for 3 hours total.

Just to be clear on the timeline, you received a call, talked to them, then called your bank and they confirmed that they made the call, correct?  Then since you had nothing else to do you looked the phone number up?  No logical reason to do that now was there?  So here you are with this big long story about how the call was "legitmate" yet you don't believe that your bank actually made the call?  "What a joke".

Got a call from this number said it was from official RBC in Montreal and gave me a number to call to verify starting 1-833 forget the rest of it, they had my full name and my husband's and said if this is Mrs..... please press 1, I pressed 1 and said please confirm your date of birth, I hung up for 2 reasons, the number they call from and I don't answer or give information that is personal over the phone. Phone my branch and they don't show any information why they would be calling.

Calls with a automated vague message.

Royal Bank from Downtown Montreal. Called twicw today and let both go to AM.

Called saying not a scam and was royal bank.  asked to confirm identity with either birth date or postal code. They are calling me and should know that info. It it is legit. RBC should just record a message saying friendly call visa is late.... which mine was not.

A scammer called & said "not a scam"?! How reassuring!

Called me claiming they are RBC to inquire about credit card!

Said it was from  RBC gave details about address of head office and a ph number, they used the persons name in the house and wanted you to confirm identity using phone as to postal code and date of birth. Our ph# is in NS. Hung up when they ask to identify over phone. WE do not get our personal information over the phone to a bank.

Spoofing programs on computers can enter any number they choose as the "from" number.  If this ever belonged to RBC it is now deactivated.  I had a robo call and tried to call the number 60 seconds later and got a message it is a "deactivated" number. Scam

I received a call from an automated service claiming to be RBC. I have confirmed with the police that it is a scam. Do not call it back.

I received a couple of calls from this number today and decided to call RBC and they said it wouldn't be them. So they said to ignore them. If it's RBC it wouldn't be automated.

Definitely intimidating that they know your full name and use it in the VM. I think that's what sets this one apart from most others.

They have been calling all weekend and again today Monday. Just hang up.

I got call from 8772145948 for 2 consecutive days saying my name that it is for banking matter.
I checked with RBC bank.They said they did not call.
