Caller claimed to be from RBC. I went to my branch. The manager said the caller should not be asking me to confirm the info. The caller ID said USA. The manager said the call center was in Vancouver CANADA. A scam and don't give them a second of your time.

The message at first was suspicious, but I looked at RBC website, and it is listed in the security department page as one of their numbers in the Q&A.  But when I answered the call and finally spoke to the agent he was very suspicious to me and I advised him I would not share any info with him and that I would call my own bank and talk to them and he actually agreed and wanted me to do so.  So, I called my bank and there was an issue with my RBC Visa.  we resolved it.  My experience is that it is legit.  I mentioned to the lady that the call seemed like a scam and she said she had several clients say the same thing.  Maybe they will change their way of contacting us.

This number is legitimate (as mars 2016).
Receiving more calls from this number and I always hangup. Make some research, the call is legitimate automatic call from RBC visa, as it figure in their official site here http://www.rbc.com/privacysecurity/ca/alert-automated-call-faq.html#b1
    For credit cards:
"Our number will be displayed as
    1-800-285-6575
    1-877-214-5948
    1-877-214-5942
    or RBC"
    for debit cards:
"Our number will be displayed as
    1-800-420-4782
    1-800-272-9301
    1-800-277-6029
    1-877-216-5027
    1-877-216-5015"
They just want to deliver a message, sometimes important. If any doubt, hang-up and call RBC yourself at your usual RBC number. The only problem is, (if you don't listen the message), that you don't know what department called you: debit, visa, mortgage, etc. and you will spend time to call all of them, as they do not know one about the other's problems.

This fake RBC has been trolling Facebook for its victims. These robo-dialers call several times a day, all hours, with a  prerecorded message. It's a wrong number too. They have an urgent financial message for someone I have never heard of.  I don't even have an account with them. It's complete spam and harassment.

It is legitimate since it's listed on RBC's website here: http://www.rbc.com/privacysecurity/ca/alert-automated-call-faq.html  - It's to inform you of a pass due amount on your credit card.

Phone numbers can be spoofed. Your best bet is to call the number on your card or on the bill you received from RBC. NEVER give someone who calls you your credit card information.

You know you can report them to the police for harassment. Any person or company who calls you more than 5 times a day (if those calls are unwanted) it is considered harassment

Had a call from this number this morning, which I did not answer.

Looking over the comments, it's possible that this was a genuine RBC call, because my husband somehow missed a payment on his card last month; they could be calling to make sure he doesn't miss the next deadline. However, I still would not press any buttons or give out any personal information -- just because a NUMBER is genuine doesn't mean the CALLER is genuine, and coincidences happen all the time. Scammers frequently do use real numbers -- I've had calls showing myself as the caller, and I know I wasn't calling myself!

I would recommend anyone receiving a call from this number not to answer, but to double-check all your RBC accounts and contact your branch directly to fix any problems.

I've been left several voice messages from this number saying there was a personal finance matter I needed to attend to. Tehy knew my name but being suspicious I called RBC at a number I took from their web site and asked if the number I was to call (877.214.5948) was an RBC number.  Not so I was told and the agent was kind enough to check if there were any messages I should know about.  I left them a suggestion to warn customers of the misrepresentation.

    Nope
Never give your information to automatic calls like this. Find out the organization they claim to work for, hang up,  BLOCK THE NUMBER IMMEDIATELY, then CALL THE REAL NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD, find out what the deal is. If it's nothing, it's nothing.

But don't give into banks that use robots to harass you either. There's no reason why they can't use a real person for this job who can treat you with respect and not a vaguely threatening message that isn't truthful or important.

Just close all of your accounts at RBC and open an account in TD which has the best customer service.

this number has called me multiple times and is totally automated. they call as royal bank saying something about a banking matter, which is of course, stupidly suspicious. they attempt to get either your date of birth or your postal code which i'm assuming is just a way to get access to either your bank account or possibly steal your identity. this is only one of the numbers that have called me with this exact thing. one of them i have blocked. another one is 11 877 214 5948 (two 1s in the beginning instead of one 1, i assume that is an international number?)

no, it is not legit. don't fall for it. if it were legit, they would get a real person to call you. none of this automated [***]. the banks are worth billions of dollars, it's not like they can't afford to get a real person from their credit department or whatever to talk to you. in fact, it's really really really bad pr for them to attempt to do it this way.
