These are dangerous scammers looking for personal data and banking information. Their number is to impersonate RBC using an automated voice system and ask you about date of birth, banking account information and so on.

claim to be from a bank in Montreal and have important information as to my account - did not get the whole message as it was on an answering machine, not calling back.

Relax people - it's legit. It was RBC with a message and very little information needed to be given to confirm it's legit.

keep getting 4-5 times a day.  USUALLY NOT LEGIT!!!!!  i am amazed that people are so gullable to think that just because it is shown on the website that it MUST BE legit.....as mentioned further up I also got calls from my own number.  if there is a legit problem they will contact you via mail!!!!!!!!

The number is listed on RBC website privacy/security page. This number is listed under their credit card automated call numbers.

Check the RBC website.  It lists the real numbers.  This is a real number. It is an atuomated RBC call

Recorded message from RCB (Royal Bank) in Montreal says it's a private matter for "Mark Douglas". I have blocked the number but I'm still getting it on my voice messages.

James again. Some here are saying this is debt collection which I find very hard to believe because I've never had any dealings with the Royal Bank of Canada. This is a scam, plain & simple.

Yep, a scam. 877 214-5948 is not legit. I just got these numbers of the RCB website.

This number called me twice on a Saturday. Many people are saying this is RBC about credit cards. I don't have one with RBC and I just went it to have a meeting with my branch 2 days ago. I don't believe it's from RBC

Call your Bank right away....and tell them exactly what you did..this is truly a SCAM

It is a scam and you just gave them enough information for them to build their profile on you. You will now be contacted with more supporting personal information to gain more of your trust now so the can access your accounts and start ripping you off. Every time they succeed in making contact with you they get further along and closer to your financial assets. I'd be extremely careful at this point and monitor your accounts diligently. If you allow them to transfer your call from their end your just getting moved from one scammer to the next within the operation. They can incript phone numbers and have them look like any number they choose. They also record original RBC voice mail and prompts that lead you to believe you are actually on an authentic RBC call. They are very high tech so proceed with caution.
