- LouiseThey have been calling me and leaving messages for my ex-husband who I have not seen in 8 years. I do not know how they got my number but I do not have my married name anymore. I hope they stop calling me or I will report them to Better Business Bureau. I'm sick of hearing from them on something that is none of my concern.

- WFS| 2 repliesThe caller said he was going to serve a summons on me for fraud. This debt from 1999 needed to be cleared up immediately. His name was Chris Moral and he stated that there is an attorney in the office by the name of Ann Resnick. This was at 4:00 P.M. and he stated that he needed a call by 9:00 p.m. or the summons would go out in the morning. He stated that I owed $18,942.00. The amount owed is only $8,000.00. There is definitely something wrong here.

- cia333 replies to chica78I received a call from the same company over an old account from 2001 same guy jermaine walker of TRI financial they are not attorneys nor paralegals they are debt collectors. And also I already had paid this debt off through another agency..They are scamming to get money....
- J| 2 replieswow , you people think that debts go away !!! maybe you should try paying your bills and stop trying to beat the stats...bottom line U OWE THE MONEY!!!! is it that hard to understand that you didnt pay your bills ...pay your bills and you wouldnt have to worry about getting sued...
- Got'emBeware* these people actually post to sites like this acting as if they are someone that has been taken to court and has had their wages garnished. The truth is they are low life junk dealers that buy debt that is usually if not always past the state statute of limitations. Don't listen to anyone that says the statute is the same for all states, just contact your states attorney general and find out from the law itself. The statute is put in place so that you do not have to worry about being sued for the rest of your life. If you are from Texas, I can let you in on what my attorney explained to me. Four years after the loan becomes delinquent you are in the clear. They can take you to court, but you just have to make your case that the statute if limitations is up and the debt is no longer valid. By the way, they can't garnish your wages in Texas. Just research the debt collection laws for your state.

- MelissaThis guy called me...asking for my mom who's been out of the country for almost 10 years talking about being sent to court if she doesn't contact him w/in 48 hours. He said he's trying to "help her". I"m so glad I googled the number. When I *69, I got (716)213-4370. Is there someone we could report these people to? He said they were TI & Associates and when I googled that - nothing came up so I googled the number he gave me.

- no country bumkinI received a voicemail today 7/21/08 at about 1pm, time zone not disclosed for security reasons ;), the female caller stated that her name is Shannon Royal. She went on to say she was calling in reference to a "pending civil matter" in my county, of which she couldn't even pronounce and honestly it isn't all that hard, that in order to "avoid immediate court action" and something unintelligible about a "summons of complaint", that they would not afford me any other courtesy, I needed to immediately return the call. She gave me a 5 digit "case #" to reference when I call 877-268-9286 and ask for extension 372. Just the sheer nature of the call had me on alert so I went and researched my local court system for this "pending civil matter", any "court action" or a "summons of complaint" and found absolutely nothing. I used the net to research some info and eventually found this website and was elated to see that this is indeed a crock of crapola. I have every intention of calling them, and maybe more than once, and after they get crabby with me tell them that calling me with their bogus calls is as good as pissin' in the wind and fully intend on calling their bluff along with reporting them to the appropriate agencies. I fully intend on contacting the Federal Trade Commission(1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357)) about the violations of the FDCPA laws, their less than ethical approaches, etc. From there I will contact the Attorney General of Buffalo(1-800-771-7755), or whichever AG governs Tonawanda, NY, and lodge as many complaints as necessary to affect litigation. I will be sure to reference this web page to both the AG and FTC so they can see the sheer amount of unethical and illegal BS this company is generating. Unfortunately we are being forced to put up with this harrassment and are having to go to the lengths of lodging formal complaints. Statistics do show that the actual number of complaints reported is very low in comparison to those who are being subjected to the undesired action(s). As much as this may seem tedious to some we MUST band together and cause a positive change. This company, and other just like it, can be heavily fined and subjected to serious legal action for their actions, but only once we start the ball rolling. It actually doesn't take much to make the snowball and get it started on it's journey downhill. And I'm sure you have seen or heard of a cartoon of what happens when it does. Let's make sure that this company is justly run over by this legal snowball! We CAN be victorious!!

- ONEWHOPAYSBILLS| 5 repliesIn short... you all need something better to do than complain that a legitimate business is kept in business because you can't take care of your responsibilities as "adults" and pay your bills. You do realize that the more you rack up in debt, the more these businesses make off of your stupidity and laziness. You annoy collectors just as much as they annoy you. Both sides make me sick. If everyone wasn't out to find a way to not pay their bills then maybe these things you [***] about so much wouldn't happen... never thought of that though did you??? Among many other factors of course... all these unpaid debts you people make and refuse to resolve is another reason interest rates are so damn high for the rest of us that chose to act our age and take care of the debts we incur. Grow up people..
- Attorney replies to ONEWHOPAYSBILLS| 2 repliesPeople are harassed all the time for debts they don't owe for a variety of reasons (i.e. mixing up people with common names, fraud, etc), which is why it's essential to follow all federal and state law when pursuing debts.
Not everyone actually owes the debt in question. If that were so, I wouldn't be so busy suing all of you low life debt collectors and with no education and, obviously, a serious lack of vocabulary as exemplified by your brilliant comments herein. It's disgusting and pathetic how you get your kicks sitting on here judging and swearing at people you don't know a thing about. It must be difficult being such angry morons who can't find a job doing anything else aside from trying to intimidate total strangers over the phone. Wow...very impressive. I'm sure your mothers must be proud. - tri-fin-no-more replies to AttorneyThere are state and federal laws regarding collection company. If you receive all call from any company that threatens you in any way know that they probably are out to screw you. A legit collection company wants to help you pay the bill you owe. They WILL take small payments and work with you anyway they can. The only way they make money is for you to pay your bill. This company is acting illegaly by telling about law suits, civil court actions etc, so unless they give you their name and bar association number they are practicing law without a license and that is a federal offense. They are breaking the law and in due time will be prosecuted. Kinda ironic isn't it. Don't pay these people call legal aid and get advice.
- PhreddSame deal- I got a call in May, while I was standing in line waiting to be seen in the Emergency Room, of all places! When I asked if I could call him back, after explaining where I was, and that I couldn't talk to him at that moment, he begrudgingly hung up on me. When I checked my caller ID, for a number to call him back, all it said was "New Call". About a week later, he calls again, tells me I owe $950.00 on a $26.00 overdraft that occured in 2001, but, if I gave him $450.00 by the end of the week, they would call it even. That in itself seemed odd to me. When I asked him for verification as to how $26.00 became $950.00, he said something about Attorney's fees, Summons, etc. When I told him I wanted to see documentation before I sent him any money, he said it would take too long, because their Attorney needed the $450.00 by that Friday, or else it would be taken to court, the amount would likely double, they would garnish my wages, not to mention tarnish my credit report. He kept asking for my e-mail address, and told me they "were a legitimate company, just go to our web-site." I told him that didn't prove anything (I was working at a local TV station at the time, we had JUST done a story about a teenager who had built a phony IRS page that was identical in every way, except there was a comma instead of a period somewhere, in an attempt to dupe people out of their "kicker" checks) When I was adamant about seeing an itemized account, he could send it to my PO box, he told me "This is the 21st century, and we're all the way in New York, it would take too long. " They needed the money by Friday. Finally, I broke down, and give him my e-mail address. Later, when I went to open the letter, that e-mail account froze up, I haven't been able to access it since. When I told him about that when he called a couple of days later, he told me "that's odd"- or something to that effect, but, am I ready to pay him now? I once again said that I wasn't sending him anything until I see documentation, he hung up on me. I didn't hear back from them until last Friday (August 1st) this time, it was a woman named Wendy. (The man never did tell me his name as far as I remember.) She told me she had been awarded my case, and wanted to do anything she could so that we could clear this up, and put it behind us. I told her what I had told him, that I needed to see what all the extra money was paying for. She wanted to e-mail it to me, I told her about THAT. Finally, we agreed to her faxing it to a local Kinko's. I gave her their fax number, said I would go pick it up the next day. The following morning, (Saturday) she calls me, tells me I gave her the wrong Fax number, we need to try this again. I hang up with her, call Kinko's, it's the correct phone number, call her back at the number she had given me, a man answers "Hello" (No "This is Tri-Financial") I ask for Wendy, they say "Who?" I say "Wendy" Long pause. "Oh, WENDY! Please hold while I transfer your call." A couple of minutes of dead silence (no "on hold" music, or a nattering voice trying to sell me something, which, normally, I would be thankful of.) Finally, she answers. I tell her my name, and even though we had just spoken to each other not ten minutes before, she first tells me she needs my Tri-F account number, which I give. "Darn computer. Let's try it another way. Can I get your DOB?" I stupidly give it to her. "The last four of your SSN?" Once again, I'm stupid. (The meds I'm on for my back make me even stupider than I sometimes can be.) "Oh, there we go. How can I help you?" I tell her why I'm calling her back. "Oh, okay, let me run upstairs, and I'll fax you that information!" I tell her great, that I'll go pick up the fax, and call her back. She askes me for $408.20. I tell her, once again, no money until I see an accounting. She tells me she needs that sum by Friday, or else I would have to pay the full total of $1,632.81, plus possible garnishments, bad credit report, etc. I tell her that I couldn't possibly pay even the $408.20, I haven't been able to work since May because of a back injury, can't collect unemployment, because, to do that, I have to be ABLE to work, is there anyway I can make payments?(and to Debt Collector [***]- I AM NOT A DEADBEAT- I've worked hard all my life, pay my taxes, pay my debts, etc. Because of an accident, right now, I AM UNABLE TO WORK!) Anyway, it's quite obvious that's NOT what she wanted to hear. She re-iterates about needing it by Friday ($ to party for the weekend?) I tell her I can't. She hangs up. I go to Kinko's to pick up the fax. There is NO break-down as to where or how $26.00 became $1,632.81, just a form letter stating "Per conversation with our representative, our office has agreed to accept $408.20 as settlement in full.... a check by phone no later than August 8th.",etc. "If you have any questions, call 1-877-268-9286." I call THAT number, it sure sounds A LOT like the same guy who answered when I had called Wendy, so, I take a stab, and ask for her, get transfered, again, a long period of silence, finally, the phone rings and rings and rings. I stay on the phone to leave a message about the fax not having a break-down on the monies, as per our conversation. The phone just rings and rings and rings. One would think they would at least have an answering machine!

- BsulliI keep getting a call from some guy named Peter Stanton that keeps saying this is the last and final call but then I get another call. I will not call him back and I sent them a letter telling them to send me the original contract regarding the matter and they have sent nothing. So I am still waiting and thinking about changing my phone number.

- pumpTri financial is the most illegal agency around. Why don't people call the NYS Attorney General's office and close them down!!!!!They hired illegal collectors that can't find a job or keep one. Call the Mayor of North Tonawanda and ask why they allow a company to operate in North Tonawanda. All those collectors probably work at another agency and got fired. I heard there is a man name Morrow that helps run that dump. He has been around I was told and is a big drug addict. The drug task force should watch out for this company with all those hired drug addicts who work there.

- AzcatI got a call this past thursday 8-14-08, telling me to call them back no later than friday. The lady said there was a civil case against me, and that the charges were serious. This was all on my voice-mail. When I listened to it, the voice mail said it was from 717 or some area code, however they number she said to call was 18772689286 at ext 326. I called the 877 number and used the ext, and it wasnt even a valid ext. Next time I get a call from these scumbags, I am going to flip the script and tell them I am calling the BBB, and the FTC. To make sure they are legit. Some how I think I am going to get hung up on, which will later be blamed on bad connection or something.

- Doc replies to ONEWHOPAYSBILLSTo "ONE WHO PAYS BILLS":
I was harrassed by these people (and others) because some [***] with a name I can't pronouce was using my social security number to work legally in the US and get cash loans from some kind of loan sharks and not paying them back. Fortunately, I check my credit report every 12 months. But that was even too late. I was already being harrassed by these people for something I DID NOT DO OR HAVE CONTROL OVER. I've spent the last year and half, several thousand dollars and tons of time and energy to get this matter resolved. In the meantime, my credit is screwed and some of these people, like TRI Law & Associates (yeah, this is what they call themselves now) call me at 9 o'clock at night while I"m trying to enjoy time with my family to tell me that the DA in my county is issuing a summons for me the next day unless I give them $2000 over the phone. When I asked asked what his name was he said "Investigator Conrad Bernstein". Lucky for me, I've been thru this and know that they're a scam. I let him know that I was not the person who took out the cash loan and that someone had been using my social security number and there was now a freeze on my credit. He laughed in my face. I told him that I'd have my attorney call him in the morning. He hung up.
A "legitamate business" wouldn't have to misrepresent themselves nor would they make their employees misrepresent themselves. TRI Law Associates are not a Law Firm and I"m about 99% sure that Conrad Berstein is not an investigator.
I've never done so much as returned a rented movie late. So,"ONE WHO PAYS BILLS" or should I call you "INVESTIGATOR ONE WHO PAYS BILLS"- I'm assuming that you probably work for one of these shady and unethical companies and need to search for forums to write such things as this to make it easier for you to sleep at night.
To the rest of you, even if it is an old debt, that you over looked or intentionally did not pay: You should be responsible and pay it if you do in fact owe it and do in fact know about it but you DO NOT have to be harrassed by the likes of these types of companies. Period. - thomas adams replies to Don'tPlayWellWithOthers| 10 repliesyes, how do you get them to stop.the told me i owe 1500.00.plus,im going tocourt in 2 weeks.its a civil suite.
