Looking for money in the sum of $11,600.00 they claim one of my siblings owes on a debt from 2000.  Asked for checking account number (not given).
Also gave what they called a "docket #".  They phone 8 - 10 times a day sometimes every 10 minutes.  They have used the phone number 877-572-7572.
Occasionally will state to contact an attorney.  They refuse to send paperwork to back up their claim.

This company Tri Financial, continually calls my home number leaving messages to call 1-877-268-9286 and to ask for Peter Stanton. This person asks for a relative of mine, who does not live here. I called the number and asked to have my number, which I pay for removed. They said they would not remove it as the person they are looking for called them one time from this number. I explained that the person does not live at this address and was a quest for a short time and I do not have a number for them. They refuse to remove my number. This is rediculous. This is a breach of my privacy.

These people called my mother-in-law's house for my husband.  My mother-in-law kindly told them that we had no phone to send a letter pertaining to what the call as about.  The lady on the phone with my mother-in-law stated that they don't send letters, they send a sheriff to pick people up!  I have never heard anything so funny in my life!

I just recieved a call from My sister freaked out over a call from this TRI Financial Company located in NY. Myself I work in a law firm as a legal secretary and thought maybe I should investigate this alittle.
They are saying my sister had a account in Ky in 2006 and it was overdrawed $571.75 but they are wanting over $3,000 from her. So I googled this company and this website came up. I called my sister and e-mailed her this site and told her "Not To Give Them A Dime". My sister has called and asked for the information of how this account was overdrawed and even who sent thru a check or debit. Well they cannot give her this information. Ok this does not sound correct to me. They just threatened her that if she does pay by 5 today that the Attorney named Peter Stanton will start the paperwork to have her arrested and that they will freeze her accounts. I would never pay for something without some type of proof that I owed this money. As my sister told me her and her husband did not even bank at this bank and when they moved to Ohio they just transfered to the local branch in our area here. So can anyone give me some advice on how to deal with this situation?
Ive informed my sister not to pay them anything and that if they insisted on trying to have her arrested I will just draw the money out of my savings and bail her out and go get a attorney for this.

Well first go to your credit report and see if it is even showing on there.
If not tell TRI to send you a breakdown of what you owe. Which they will not send to you.

Listen, these people are illegal in collecting and raising the amount of money you owed. Wait for their court letter and then go to court. You do not need a lawyer to represent you and be a pro se litigant so please do not be intimidated by those idiots. File a report with the FTC and contact your Attorney General and I promise you that you will see real changes with those morons. Good luck

Please let me explain to you one thing. If the amount the morons are talking about it's not what you owe, let them take to court and fight them as a pro se litigant. Meanwhile write them a letter and request for a validation of the debt. Stay focus and fight them because they're pigs trying to blow your house but you be the big bad wolf. Good luck

They called my work and left a message to contact them about a docket # (like they are suing me).  This was suspicious to me because, where I come from, a case is called a cause # and a docket is a list of causes that will be heard at a given time.  When I called them back, they threatened to take away my driver's license.  My request for a mailing address and for them to mail me a validation of the debt were accused of being a stall tactic.  They said that postage was too high and I needed to provide a fax # and/or an email.  I refused to do so.  The person answered as "Chris" and when I asked for Paul Christopher, he affirmed that was him.  When I asked for the address, the guy tells me to hang on.  Another guy eventually comes on, but sounds exactly like the first guy, (fairly deep, official sounding guy, like the guy from the beer commercial saluting the foam finger maker).  He has a tendency to interrupt me and argue over me.  I recorded the conversation and contacted my attorney general and the FTC.  I am considering a lawsuit, but don't know how to go about doing this.

I just wanted to update anyone interested.  When they called again I said that I had consulted a lawyer (which I did) and that from then on I would not speak to anyone over the phone about the matter.  I encouraged them to send me something in writing and politely but firmly ended the conversation.  So...almost 2 months now and guess what?   No letter from them, no court summons they said would be here within a day or two, nothing.  Since then I have been told that these things are usually cases where the debt was legit, but it is too long ago to be able to be legally collected.  BUT!  If you make any kind of 'good faith payment' like they were pressuring me to do, even if it's just 5 bucks, then the debt comes back into legal play.  So if you were intimidated into making such a payment you have to deal with the situation so it won't continue, but if you haven't just mention the words "upon the advice of my lawyer I do not discuss these matters over the phone.  Good bye," followed by hanging up the phone.  Bet you never hear from them again.

The sad thing is that I evidently owe someone out there 400 bucks.  I feel bad about that.

    just rude
Funny how they say they are collecting a debt for 315.00 for a bank overdraft and then when you get a letter the amount is for 2755.67 what are the hidden fees.
They say you are in chex systems for this, funny thought that was for when you have a CHECKING ACCOUNT, they claim that the balanced owed is for checking or savings!!!!!! funny how you CAN NOT over draw your account if you have a savings, don't you get some kind of insufficient notice and it won't give you money and obviously the bank won't give it to you by going in the lobby. DUHHHHH  I've never had a checking account funny where this HUGE balance comes from.

I'm so glad I "googled" this BS...they're such jerks...and this has GOT to be classified as harassment.  They even call my parent's house!  This is the first message I heard "litigious civil case" crap.  And to top it all off...it's from 1998!!!  It was a $300 bill that escalated to over $1400!!!  I refuse to pay that o the principal alone!

1-877-268-9286 this is their number at Tri-Financial.

Perhaps, many people do have debts and bad credit, but it should not be expoited by a "company" who does not have accuate information. When asked to be removed from their list because the person they are looking for does not live at my home, they still call, what happened to FCC regualations???

mr. "attorney"... must be easy for you as a low-life attorney to contradict yourself in such a manner. directly from your post- ( It's disgusting and pathetic how you get your kicks sitting on here judging and swearing at people you don't know a thing about.).. seems you're doing the same thing. for one i -highly- doubt you're an attorney.. and if by some means you managed to do that.. then i doubt you're a very good one. the 3 worst things in the world are attorneys, collectors, and attorneys. that's right.. i said it twice. in case you were wondering if i didn't know. wouldn't want to give you anything else to complain about. enjoy your sad existence sir.. or ma'am.. or both..

as is the same with any other "3rd party collections" they cannot send you a breakdown or itemized list of what you owe because it simply does not exist.. unless you yourself contact the original creditor for it. this is because it can be a violation of your privacy. it's not their business as to what you bought.. nor do they really care. but mainly it's becuase it's not an option to obtain by anyone other than youself or maybe some legal council acting on your behalf. it's much wiser in the future to become familiar with what you need to complain about before you do it.

good luck to you "eddie". check the case of chaudhry vs. gallerizzo... no validation notice needs to be sent to you in writing. they only need to tell you that you owe it and it's sufficient enough. EDUCATE YOURSELVES PEOPLE!!! -please... before continuing to waste your time complaining on a blog about things you know nothing about. it makes you look MUCH less silly. dont take this as being mean.. simply trying to inform.

But they can and should tell you what the debt was for. Forget about breakdowns or itemized lists, how about "Sears" or "Target" or "Mastercard"? Anyone can just call and say "you owe me money, better pay up!" Hello! Proper documentation, anyone?
