- TickedRinging my Cell then hanging up.
- anonA number rings. We hear it announced from our phone. If it is someone we know, we answer the phone. If it is not, we let it roll over to an audible answering machine. If they don't leave a message, we know it is a con. If they are leaving a message and it is some corny thing about us owing money or it's the IRS or it's helping us to reduce our credit card debt, we don't pick up. Oh, we don't owe anyone money. If there is no message, we then go to this site and check out the number. 99% of the time, it is a scam caller. ONE time it wasn't. It was a utility company who had an employee that was remiss in leaving a message to contact the company about scheduling an appointment for an update on our equipment. The number in question now left NO MESSAGE. It also had NO CALLER ID. I did a quick check here and found the posts. It is obviously a SCAM caller. Thanks everyone!

- TLB55Called, no message. Only showed up as 800 Service on caller ID. Called it back and answered Capital One. We have no CC's attached to that number. The caller then asked me to read him the entire 16 digit number on my card...WRONG....they only ever ask for the last four. I said I did not have my card with me. He said then can you give me your social security number. I said the last four? He said no I need your nine digit social security number. WRONG again, they only ask for you last four. I asked him what name was attached to the number he called and he hung up...... SCAM......

It was not. I unlocked my account from this number. The voice prompts asked me to verify recent purchases and they were correct. The account was immediately unlocked.

- can't fool meRobo-call recorded message about "final chance" to lower interest rate on credit card. Exact same recording as every other credit card scam. This number is for General Customer Service but Cap One has specific toll free numbers for credit cards, home loans, car loans, etc. so some scammer must be spoofing caller ID. Solar scammers have spoofed the local utility company's legit number. No limit to how low they will go. BLOCK IT!!
