It's too bad Capital One doesn't have a way for you to call them on a known published phone number.  Maybe they should put the number on the back of their cards or even on a statement or website?

Unless you called a known Capital One number, I would not trust it.  If you receive unexpected calls from your financial institutions always state you will call them back at a number you know to be a correct number for them.  They can transfer you to the correct office if needed since a note would be in your account about any such call that was legitimate.

Caller ID said "Out of area".  I did not answer, caller left no message.  Thanks to all who posted, now blocked.

Robo Spammer unsolicated Call again and again

Called for interest rate reduction scam. Number web search says it's Capitol One. It is not.

spectrum blocked the call after 1 ring which is a sign of a known robo caller and or scammer. from whai i read above it is a scammer.caller id was just a repeat of the number.

Supposedly Capital One, calling abt my credit card. I told the caller I do not have one, but the person continued to rant—so i hung up.

Same as everyone else's posts. These are scammers spoofing Capitol One's number.

Capitol One credit card scam

Another day, another credit card rate reduction scam. Today they were pretending to be Capital One. It's maddening that no one in govt or at the phone companies care enough to fix this problem. Why do we continue to allow criminals to abuse our telecom infrastructure?

When I informed the caller I did not have a credit card and to please permanently remove my number from the dialer, the caller hung up in my face!
