- GunnarScammers spoof legitimate numbers. They like to do it most on weekends & holidays. ALWAYS call the number back on the # that's on the back of your card! NEVER talk to someone that calls claiming to have info. about you or your acct.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

- Marie replies to SarahThey told me the same thing!!!
- CynthiaThey called claiming to be capital one, said there were suspicious transactions and needed to verify the transactions with me but that account is under my husband not me. They said my number was the number on the account and they had sent a verification code to my phone and i had to give them the code # to verify it was me before they could release any information to me. Not thinking much about it, i gave him that # and he immediately hanged up. Next thing we know they had changed the password and email for that account.

- AnonThis is a SCAM! They were very good pretending to be CapitalOne fraud department. They had already hacked my account online and transferred funds from one account to another and then attempted a P2P transfer of $2000. I called capital one and stopped the P2P transaction. They are very quick and very good. BE VIGILANT!

- DentistMan called my cell, told me he's from Capital One Bank and that apparently some fraudulent activities were happening with my debit card.At 1st I believed him but then he told me that in order for them to send me a new card I would need to provide him with my PIN and the security code from the back of my debit card. That alarmed me immediately,I hanged up,he tried to call me a few more times but I called the REAL capital One Bank fraud Department who told me that that they would NEVER asked for such sensitive info and that this number has nothing to do with them. Be AWARE criminals are spoofing banks phone numbers to get a personal info from ypu and steal your money!!!

- Big Daddy Cane SauceSo after finally answering a call from this number they claimed to be Capital One asking me about an unauthorized transaction taking place on one of my cards... the call went well enough except they had my old mailing address which I had updated with Cap1 about 6 months ago. They said they would cancel the card that was being used fraudulently and send me a replacement card all I needed to do was give the 3 digit security code on the back of my card... I simply said "no" and immediately the call went silent and then disconnected. Obviously these are scammers who somehow got ahold of some information but not enough to be useful so they are programming their outgoing calls to show Capital Ones number and then trying to get the security code so they can actually use the card information... 877-383-4802 is actually a Capital One phone number if you call it directly which is why scammers are programming their caller ID to show that number. Be aware that capital one will never ask for your pin, your 3 digit security code, you social security number, or even your 16 digit card number. They already have that highly sensitive information. So if anyone asks for that info hang up immediately and do not give them anymore information. If you realize that you have given them any information just call Capital One directly and tell them what happened so they can cancel your card and re-issue a new one for you.

- frustrated landline userThese robocalls need to be put away - I am sick of them and I have only been working from home not even a week. I can't make calls on my cell phone and do business with these excess unwanted calls coming on our landline

- Not that gullibleScammer trying to get access to my Capital One account. Joke's on them 'cause there's 0 money in that account, I just haven't bothered to close it yet. For the record, legit "fraud protection" will never call and ask for your 2-factor auth code.

- I’m Not StupidFraud scammer, as above, wanted information for my Capital One account. I disconnected the call and contacted Capital One directly-they confirmed that no one had made an out-bound call for my account-then the representative transferred me to the Account Security team, who confirmed that my account, indeed, had been compromised, but no funds were secured. The security team member promptly froze my online profile and account so that nothing would transpire until their investigation is complete and a new account established. The only time-consuming issue was contacting my account holders to let them know that ACH payments processed yesterday will be rejected. After the account had been frozen, the scammer called back demanding information from me, “I just need one piece of information from you, and you’re going to give it to me-or I will come to your house. I know your wife’s name, your children’s names, that you have 7000.00 in your account...”
I told her “Come on, you might walk on to my property, but you will be limping off of it.”
