- Jen replies to Just me| 1 replyWe had Everhome Mortgage too! They sold our mortgage to wells fargo in december
- Pat replies to JenBefore our mortgage was sold to TBW it was held by Everhome and it is now being serviced by CENLAR. I was informed they are serving Freddie Mac.
- Jon replies to JIMYes, this is a scam, but it doesn't matter if you give them the TX number or not. If you give it to them so that they can refund you there is a chance they might (I am still waiting after 2 days).
Yes, it would confirm to them that it is a real account, but they already know this because they recieved money from your account. Also, if you contact your bank to do a fraud charge they'll find out anyhow.
The problem here is with the lack of security around Electronic Fund Ttransfers. If this was a VISA, then VISA would shut down their merchant account ASAP. However banks are somehow behind the learning curve.
WHAT WE NEED BANKS TO DO IS SET UP A WHITELIST. I contacted my bank USBANK, and they said that this was only avaiable for business accounts. What my bank is telling me is that I am not important enough as a customer to give me that feature for a regular checking. They have a security hole, and they have a solution, but they are unwilling to offer it to me! - Jon replies to Just meI use Everhome mortgate.
- Amy replies to GeorgeVery easy to deal with? Did you ever get your refund?? Curious.
- Amy replies to MWHappened to me...not a mobile banking user. I'm sure I've provided my checking account to a few legitimate merchants who I have paid online in the past few years...this must be a hack job of some kind. Still irritated that the banks haven't shut it down yet. Seems pretty widespread.
- AmyEveryone on here has the same story...and it stinks! I say call 877-456-5171 as many times as possible just to tie up their stinking phone line and run up their usage charges!!!! (The number is working today, by the way. They're probably just getting slammed with calls.) But calling and calling often may be the only way you'll ever take back a penny of the $29.95 they illegally took out of your checking accounts!!!!!!!
- Donna replies to Wachovia-Charlotte NC| 3 repliesWe have Everhome Mortgage (it's actually our 3rd or 4th mortgage company in just 2 1/2 years), use Keesler Credit Union, never had Anthem, and had the same thing happen to us. We are in the process of getting the CU to refund the money and changing our account. It is going to be a huge hassle.
- mad replies to D| 1 replyhow many of you have been bank of america for some type of service
- Julie replies to DebWe also got hit with a $29.95 charge. I guess we will be closing out our acct and opening a new one. Great! I would love to know what services I have "purchased".
- Julie Wheeler| 2 repliesSame thing here, I am in the Seattle area. They used my husbands name with a wrong address. The only common thread is that I do have Everhome Mortgage, and I do pay my mortgage online. I think there may be a connection, as my husband is the 3rd and they have his name slightly incorrect on our mortgage, which is how the name appears on the fraudulent check. I have filed a fraud alert at my bank ( Umpqua Bank) and they are crediting my account. Of course they want me to close my acct and open a new one, but as someone else here commented, what good does it do if there is no security with the EFT system? As of now, I haven't closed my account, but I will be watching it like a hawk everyday online. Has anyone been charged more than one time? I am thinking what they may be doing is to just keep charging different accounts by a small enough amount that many people just don't notice. They just do it once, and just keep moving on. To me it should not be difficult to stop this by the banks, they just don't seem care at all. Has anyone contacted their own state's attorney general? I really don't know what to do from here, and again, I just don't sense any kind of urgency from my bank at all..............
- d replies to madI have never used bank of america. My reg acct is w pnc
- Jen replies to Julie WheelerI bank at Wachovia and she was very concerned, they can now sell your account info to someone else who might just wipe it out and something tells me the banks arent as nice if it is a larger amount of money...when calling the 877 no they finally told me after 10 calls the company is out of Seychelles...those international scams are even worse...I would definitely consider closing your account.
I reported it to the FBI a very simple form to fill out, I also did rip off report - MaureenMy husband and I woke up this morning to find out our account was overdrawn. We had just enough money in it to last us til his check would be direct deposited on Friday. Well upon further investigation we noticed an electronic check went through for $29.95. They had my husbands name but not the right address. The address was out of Texas. I immediately called US Bank to notify them and they closed our account and are doing a fraud investigation. I googled the name and ph# that was on the check (BBU 877-456-5171) and then found this forum. I also found a ton of other websites too with people having the same problem. This is CRAZY! Everyone should report this too BBB, RipoffReport and as many other places as you can to try and get these people to stop and be prosecuted!!!
- Ticked off!Just got this in the mail. Had my husbands name but wrong address. Called the number and they are DBA or something like that. But the company on the check said BBU services. Luckily my bank stopped the payment and I'm grateful, so they didn't take the money. But they were all about trying to give me a refund. I don't understand how THEY could give a refund if they arent the ones taking the money....ill be calling the bank tomorrow and opening a new account.
- Maureen replies to Donna| 1 replyWe also use Everhome mortgage...I wonder if there is any connection?
- Donna, IN replies to Laura, PASame thing happened to me, same day. I just don't understand how they continue getting away with this! Has anyone actually gotten their refund? And, most of us are closing the account which they have hacked...so if the refund is in 3-5 business days what happens to the refund if the account is closed? It's a no win situation...close the account and there's no way to put the "stolen" funds back in. Keep the account open and it's likely they will run another unauthorized check. There just doesn't seem to be a recourse for us. ??
- rae67 replies to Just meThe same exact thing happened to me! Bogus address, 29.95 etc. I did at one time have a Cenlar account as somebody mentioned previous. Now my mortgage is with Everhome!
- jdsemrau replies to MaureenI have everhome too!!! I just looked today at my bank on line and the same thing...a $29.95 check to BBU. I called the number on the check and there was a recording that said the phone number is an unassigned number. My bank is filing an unauthorised draft and refunding the money to my account.
- just meFor those of you that have Everhome... please call them and tell them this has happened to you too. My sister in law called them today and mentioned that their online payment system may have been hacked. Of course this was the first they heard of it!!! Maybe if enough of us Everhome people call them, they will look into it more.
