Total scam!! I filled out an app for income deferment on my student loans. The financial aid website said it was sending the app electronically to my lender but not to this other Educational Corp so I called that number it was all recording and once I put in my information it said to call this number. I called this number he wanted to verify my name and SSN then said someone would call back. I didn't look on here until after I already called. I wish I would have. Be smarter than I was. I only panicked because I'm starting grad school and wanted to make sure my loans are up to date so I can get loans. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have called plus it came from the FAFSA site. Be careful...

Please note:  Regarding the collection of student loans, the collection agency wants to convince you that you need to pay $200 or more per month.  The reason is simple-they make a ton more money that way.  If they get you to pay that they make 16% of the TOTAL loan amount.  If you pay less they only get 16% of what you pay every month.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
