- LisanneReceived a call from this number stating that it was an "urgent matter" from Capital Services ext. # 3464. Upon returning the message he immediately requested my home address. I replied, I will not provide you with any information until I know what this matter is regarding. He then hung up the phone on me. The call from this company is as expected, A SCAM!!

- Don't pay| 2 repliesIt doesn't matter if you owe money or not, if you are the right person or not, if you talk to them or not, if you try to resolve over and over again or not, if you are angry or not, if you are abusive or polite, it doesn't matter. They will call you for ever - year after year after year. It doesn't even end if you pay them. The creditor places the account with the next agency using the same collection software and the calls continue.
The "Do not call" list is powerless to stop it - they're exempt.
Bankruptcy doesn't stop it - the calls continue even after your Trustee serves them notice.
Your lawyer can't stop it - they'll ignore his or her letters.
Legislation won't stop it - they already randomly violate Regulation 103/06 of the Collection Agencies Act.
Hundreds of Complaints haven't stopped it - there's little effective enforcement.
This is an industry that only continues when they get some people to pay. - That's the money that sustains the calls. So, when you get the first call from any debt collection company - it's time to make up your mind to never pay ever - no matter what. Pass the word through all social media - tell everyone not to pay. When the money stops the whole industry will be gone.
That's when the calls stop.
Refusal to let this industry exist starts with a few, becomes a movement, and will ultimately succeed. You have the power - Pass it on.- Caller: MJR Capital Collection Services

- Not Amused| 1 replyThis character, with a very thick accent, has been calling and finally left a message that an "Arnold" (not my husband's name) should call him back on an urgent matter. When I checked this number out on Google, I find it is a collection agency supposedly. We have no delinquent debts and have no intention of calling him back.

- StopUsingMyNumber replies to Not AmusedI have been receiving several calls from various collections agencies over the past 2 months, which is highly troublesome as I don't have any debt. Someone by the name of Louis Marc Vautour has been giving out my number as his own. I have no clue who he is, but he has caused me great frustration and grief. Many creditors have harassed me even though I've never heard of this man before.
I finally got hold of someone at MJR Capital this morning after having been playing telephone tag with them for the past few days. She was extremely helpful, giving me the guy's full name and promised to remove my name from their list.
Has anyone else received calls from creditors looking for a LOUIS MARC VAUTOUR? Because he should be ashamed of the grievances he is putting other people through. - John RockefellerTo all: yeah this is a legit company and yeah I owe one of the places they represent. Early posts for the number in question, go as far back as something like 2007 or 2008 and 7 years later still using their numbers so how would this be a scam? To all who are paranoid or have an opinion of what they can or cannot do, all they're doing for me in this case, is calling every so often, screechy woman's voice calling on behalf of someone there for whom I'm to call back at the number (with extension) and then obviously work with them to settle the debt. I don't intend on doing so anyway as it's a disputable one that I'd rather they keep trying to get in touch with me about. So many rules or laws in the debtor's favour these days and since I have call blocking capabilities on my Panasonic phones, for each number I get from their many available to them, I just laugh about it. I also laugh about the naive (read as "stupid") people who reply on sites like 800notes and then try to convince anyone these collection agencies aren't following the rules as set by our government. they actually are and in the terms of the contract one signs when getting credit from a store, bank, credit card company etc., it's really in there in pretty clear English "they will try to collect later and you agree to that part by signing" Don't try to pass it off as a company that is trying to scam you or is fake, MJR is real and an easy search online proves it. IF you were to talk to them honestly, you'd probably find that they have accurate or correct information about you and could easily tell you where the debt was from and even if say for Canadian Tire itself, could tell you what you last purchased before you dumped the credit (or did they dump you instead when you were delinquent?). IF you think I don't know what I'm talking about and you have others hounding you, IF you Google search any number as it shows up on your caller I.D. or you search teh number left on your voice mail, for almost every time you'll end up with some results and often enough it shows up on 800notes anyway. Change your number, get call blocking phones, put "Return to Sender" on any mail coming to your home (black out your address in the window, completely so the postal system doesn't see YOu as not being there and stopping all other mail with your name on it) and be done with it. A family member used to work for a collection agency and advised much about what these companies can or cannot do these days and they're at a big disadvantage but it wasn't always like this. In the old days they had some goofs coming to your home and wedging their foot in your open door and were quite aggressive. back then I answered the door and for a roommate who had long since moved and I not being responsible for his debts at that time anyway, I told the goof that I'd rip his head off and shove it up his [***] along with his shoe if he didn't remove it from my door asap. Today I highly doubt if they even knock on doors anymore and since my pissy little debt is over 2 years old now, not once have I seen anyone try to serve my home with papers of any kind (and I have video surveillance recording 24/7 too). Ignore them if you want, it's only a phone call, what can they really do by phoning you? P.S. for every number you get a call from, record it and eventually you'll find most of them are in the same building or they have offices in other provinces like B.C., MB, Ontario. Don't think there are many in Alberta though....... Must be a lousy job to have if so many people now have the luxury of having the upper hand and the collection places can't do anything illegal anymore and if salary was based on successful collection of most debts, these employees would be very very poor and might even eventually be on the list of who the company is trying to collect from.

- John Rockefeller replies to Don't payYou're not very bright and yeah, my reply is months old now. IF you pay, they stop and move onto the next ones. If you owe for a debt, you freakin' OWE! Fess up, either pay or don't, DNC with Canadian Govt. can't or won't help you since you actually have a debt. IF what you said is true and they kept calling AFTER a debt was satisfied, this very legitimate company would be facing fines in the millions and yeah, your debt would have been small in comparison. MJR has been around for years and must have some sort of success or they wouldn't employ anyone and of course no one would call. Kind of a "duh" reply to you later in the year, you sound like you're really being chased and in Canada you can easily file for bankruptcy and yeah, once you are involved with a place like BDO etc., ALL creditors as noted in the deal when you start that ball rolling, will NOT contact you again. It's actually law that they are to cease doing so but of course maybe soon after you start the process you get a call or a letter, doesn't mean you need worry about it as you are protected by Canadian law to begin with. Gone are the days of the strongarm tactics, calling up your relatives etc. Today they'd get a kick in the head if they showed up at your door and tried anything but handing you papers or telling you to come in and arrange to settle your debt(s). they're actually smarter than this and know that in the old days people had some decency and wouldn't pop 'em if found to be constantly pounding on their door non-stop, today it's a scary world out there and they instead do it by phone OR have papers served by others who are trained in that field. Used to be able to find you by your provincial driver's license but like much else these days, the debtor wins because of the privacy laws or acts. Either smarten up and pay your bills or file for bankruptcy protection or just ignore it since unless they find out where you work (if you even have a job), then they'll call for many years if you keep your ph. number too

- Mike k.Yes, Ryan Pratt from mjr capital has been harassing my 93 year old mother on behalf of cibc for a 20 year old credit card debt from her long dead husband. I've now had to contact the seniors abuse service in mississauga. This company has a history of intimidating senior citizens and other helpless people. Often, they will do it to whoever the phone number is registered to, even if the original person is dead. No money will be forthcoming. Police in Toronto want the details.

- LekeshaCaller is MJR Capital Services Incorporated based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Not sure why they call themselves a 'Capital Services' company because the only people they produce 'capital' for is the debt of other companies - in truth they are a ruthlkess debt collector. I worked for MJR out of their Markham, Ontario office for several months (I suck at debt collecting apparently). They encourage callers to be rude in order to collect funds.

- Who CaresMany of those who work as Debt Collectors are not polite because they are not Boy Scouts and/or Girl Guides. They are mainly a downtrodden lot, and their ranks include ex-convicts, drug addicts, 20-somethings without high-school diplomas and a variety of other hard-luck cases.
Oh, my God, they are like thugs. However, the more clean-cut types simply can’t get the job done. So don't expect that debt collector, who is calling you, to be nice!!!- Caller: MJR CAPITAL SERVICES INC.
