Scammers. Claim I defaulted on a BMO debt. I currently have a big line of credit withBMO. The bank often offers to increase my credit line. Pulled my credit reports and find nothing except a top shelf credit rating. I sense they pull these stunts knowing they will intimidate someone into paying a debt they don’t owe.

Same, they keep calling asking if i know the person who is in debt. i know the person, but i don’t have his consent to give them any info. May be a class action in behalf of the people who do not owe them anything, but keep getting harassed

You need your answer spoon fed to you because you don't know how to read?  I have to wonder because there are 119 posts in this thread before your post and it looks like you were too lazy to read any of them.

They keep calling on my new number, they sen already a letter with my last 4 digits credit card were did they get my information I don’t  know u call in my credit card bank to talk about MJR calling in my new number I haven’t call to update my personal information with them the credit card bank told me they didn’t gave any information to them.

I used to be an employee at this company, let me just say management is absolutely awful. Employees are treated unfairly, it’s a negative environment inside the building. At both Markham and Mississauga locations.

Most of the agents don’t really care about the customers, they are just penalized if they don’t reach their targets. So they work for that, not for the mentality of actually helping customers clear their debt.

As for why you are receiving calls. You are in debt, and first/third party collections are attempting to get you out of there. You only need certification/license to collect in third party, otherwise anyone can become a first party debt collector.

I have been getting calls from them saying I owe for a hydro bill in a community I never lived. And the community I live in, hydro is not in my name. It’s included in my rent.

Ah what does stop them is suing them as I did.  Judge was not impressed with their Blatantly illegal behavior. So, not only will they never call me again, they had to pay me as well.
The nice thing is it can be done in small claims court so you don't even need a lawyer yourself.

Recording from MJR asking me to call them about “an important business matter”.  I see they’re a debt collector, but I don’t have any bills in default so I don’t know why they’re calling.

Call from MJR Capital about a BMO debt discharged in my bankruptcy 10 years ago.  From what I understand the statute of limitations in my province has passed so legally they can’t pursue payment but they can still call and threaten that they will.  Real sleezy company.  The key is not acknowledging the debt and not making a payment, even if they ask you to make a small “good faith payment”.  If you do either of those things, the debt “resets” and you’re responsible for the debt again.

Again, just don’t acknowledge this company.  They prey on people not being knowledgeable of their rights!
