Maria, I paid off my debt too, and Appelles says "the letter was sent out." I have yet to receive a letter from them.  I am going to contact the BBB and whomever else I have to contact to complain about them if they do not respond to me today.

I've learned that being rude is fun, but even MORE fun is to politely tell them "our company does not owe you any money."

They, like all debt collectors and telemarketers, are pedophiles unworthy to even [***] on. It's fun to listen to them get irate with me. Call the person who owes you money, moron!!

What?  How can this be legal?  If anyone ever tries to contact via a website and put my name and the debt I owe on it, I will be rich!  Because I will have them in court for all of their violations!

The vouce mail was a hispanic voice with a thick accent who I can hardly understand, they left me a message (on my MOTHERS PHONE) saying "THE POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU IRENE"! (then that'S all he said and hanged up) seriously (police don't do that LOL so unprofessional). and I know it was them because they left a restricted (no phone number message) and I owe US BANK because someone wrote me a check and I cashed it, He (check writer) owed me for my labor and work. it's not my fault the guy could not pay for it or had funds... now it comes to me too bad because I used MY money to pay for my rent. Not my prob. so stop harassing me and if the cops where looking for me then THEY would had got me a long time ago specially last week when i got pulled over and got my name ranned for a traffic infraction. SO don't think I am dumb the POLICE  would not ALLOW you or give you such info specially such messages. INFACT they would had got me a long time ago IF I committed any crime.

I do not have any debt in collections and yet they call my house upwards of ten times a day and when I answer they hang IL immediately. It's a tad irritating.

We opened an account with US Bank, "free checking". We deposited $100 to start the account and then they said the balance after that didn't matter so that same day we withdrew $80 to leave $20. Three months later, we had not withdrawn or deposited any money into or out of the account but they charged us all that had been in there in FEES on our so-called "free" checking account, sent us letters telling us we owed them $70 in fees and to close the account, and are now harassing us with collection calls. If we pay this, we are actually down $90 for a bank account we never even used.

    Hey Troll,

Don't you need a question mark at the end of your question? It seems to me that if you're going to mock people for improper punctuation you should probably double-check yours as well.

I was reading through these messages because I keep getting calls and never get a chance to speak to anyone. They hang up everytime. Somewhat frustrating. I don't owe any money to anyone. I take pride in my credit and in paying my bills on time. I am wondering if they somehow got my number on an auto dailer from a past client. Who know?!
SOOOOO... Troll Slayer, thank you. As I was reading through the messages, I got more and  more annoyed with Troll. He can bash everyone (most of whom will never come back and see his ridiculous comments) but he spends HOW MUCH TIME on this thread making sure he catches anyone that does not live up to his standards.
Troll... Get a life, man! You have spent so much time on this site that your kids no longer know you, your wife has left you and you have lost your job.  And for what? So you can be a [***] on a site where you are anonymous? LOL Good luck staying on top of your bills with no income.
Oh, by the way... say what you want... I have no time to come back and read the comments you leave. I am sure they will be nasty, demeaning, and insulting. But who cares. Unlike you, when I leave this thread, I won't come back, nor will I think about it.
Best of luck to everyone else.

Judging from these posts, Apelles is worse than I thought. I am writing to US Bank to suggest they use another service. I will also do more research on Apelles and US Bank as soon as possible and will post any information I discover.

These issues are part of a larger issue of privacy and protecting your identity as well and staying safe in an increasingly dangerous world where many lazy, ignorant, and dishonest people have access to your personal and financial information. Whether we like it or not "Big Brother" is watching, but "BB" is not one evil entity, organization, business, or government agency.  "Big Brother" is a fact of the Information Age. (George Orwell's 1984 and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.) Unfortunately banks are BIG players in the information game, but there are alternatives:

Turn the tables. Track your bank and Apelles. Find out everything you can about the people who are tracking you. Give them a run for their money! File complaints. Expose wrong-doing. Call out injustice and ring the bell the freedom . . . "all over this world".

FYI:  MoveOn is an online service—a way for busy but concerned citizens to find their political voice in a system dominated by big money and big media.

Rebuild America is another organization with an online presence and similar goals.

Act. Announce. Ascend. Make your life count and make the best of it, and stop wasting time putting each other down. No one has the right to judge or degrade others who share a problem with US Bank or Apelles, as I do. There are injustices to attack and break down, so don't waste time, life, and breath attacking each other.

    Solutions:

Since laws regarding cell phones are changing, I'm considering using online communications only. There are options for making phone calls from your computer. Very few people have to be available every minute of the day, and very few people can function without a cell phone. I've tried being available, and now I'm ready to "unplug". If you must have a cell phone, take time to learn how you can protect your privacy and identity, or accept that you have no protection. Cell phones no longer have the privacy advantage they once had. Cell phone numbers can be "shared" and tracked, as you know. Most of you probably know more about it than I do, but I will be relinquishing my cell phone as soon as possible.

If you are banking with US Bank, change to another bank, preferably a local bank with services that suit your needs. I had an account with US Bank many years ago and closed it because the attitude and services were unsatisfactory, and the atmosphere was cold and unpleasant in general. Two years ago, US Bank bought the local bank I used. Problems developed immediately and frequently, including unauthorized charges to my account in Lebanon, Jamaica, and some US cities. There were other frustrating and time--consuming problems, but they always cleared up these incidents, so I did not change banks. I could see that US Bank was attempting a "face lift", and that employees were also making efforts to provide effective, professional service.

My relationship with US Bank changed when I moved from San Diego to the Bay Area because there is no US Bank in the town where I live. I closed an account. Apparently there were some charges that had not yet been paid. It couldn't have been much, but six months later (yesterday) I received a call from Apelles saying I owe US Bank over $200. When I tried to call the US Bank # Apelles provided, the DDA folks were out "for one hour". Odd message - no matter what time a person calls, they are out "for one hour". This makes no sense, and I am now very suspicious.

Furthermore, US Bank or someone pretending to be US Bank has been attempting to transfer funds from my account with another financial institution with whom I have had a long-standing relationship for over 30 years. This is identity theft, a serious crime.

Take complete responsibility for making sure your account is properly closed and not "charged off". If you move, double check to make sure your "former bank" has your new address. Even then, banks make  mistakes, and quality of customer service is inconsistent from branch to branch. You can not count on any bank to keep all of your records in order. Some are better than others, but you still have to be vigilant about protecting and correcting your personal information. Find a secure bank that also has a completely secure records system and read the fine print. Do not sign anything that gives any business the right to share your personal information for any purpose. Finally, make sure they serves good coffee and fresh cookies and gives you a nice gift for opening an account!

Let me explain something to you all... The best thing to do is to wait it out. They are a collection agency, if they don't get the money, they sell the debt to another company for pennies on the dollar. I've owed thousands and actually got it cleared off , yes cleared off my report for a couple hundred. Two of my son's work for them and this is HOW it works. No Foolin'

This company has called me several times for US bank telling me that I owe them and trying to collect money that  the bank incurred. Someone wrote me a check and it bounced so that screwed my account up and I tried to close the account and they wouldn't close the account. SO I left it alone. Now they want over a thousand bucks which I am not working and I collect ssi. I don't make enough on my ssi to pay much of anything except my rent and utilities. I have no  credit cards and no other debts other than school loans from college. Those who have called me are very rude to me and yelling at me saying I should get a job. Well I have tried and no one is hiring. plus I am disabled but can't get disability.  so what the f.. should I do.. I can't sh?? money.. So I guess I should change my number ...and no I am not lazy or a moron.. I just like many others fall thru the cracks of society.. there isn't much I can do.

} cease and desist must be done in writing

I already did recommend written notice.

} that person needs to prove they are authorized to discuss it

The alleged debtor is not required to speak with you at all, and no one needs to prove identity in a "shut up" letter.

} cease and desists are just a stalling tactic

Cease-comms are a necessary dope slap for you Buffalo Bullies who will not stop hounding the wrong persons or chasing illegitimate debt. Again, my advice to alleged debtors was to "dispute and request validation", which sets a kind of temporary gag order. They may also restrict contact to "convenient" places and times. It is best to limit or ban all phone contact but specify a mailing address as convenient.

} doesn't make the debt go away ..... gets it in the hands of a lawyer quicker, I'm just saying

Yes, yes, because a full cease-comm paints you in a corner so you have to sue to collect. Old news. Disobeying the consumer's contact orders or pressing collection activity ahead of validation will only speed the process of getting your boss named as "defendant" .... just saying.
