- Drake| 4 repliesI got a robot all from them claiming to be United Healthcare and needing information. Don't think it's legit.
- Mike-in-MD replies to DrakeIf United Healthcare is your insurance provider you might want to call the number on your card and see if it was really them.
- Nancy| 6 repliesSaid they were United Healthcare and needed additional information and gave me a file number to reference. I called United Healthcare using the number on the back of my medical card. They said they didn't make the call and have no record of any calls made to me. Call was a scam.
- Caller: Claimed they were United Healthcare
- Louie| 2 repliesAutomated voice called claiming they were United Healthcare and knew my wife's name. Wanted her to call back in reference to some file number. Glad I checked here before calling back.
- Caller: United Healthcare
- Nana4Called yesterday, robo-call; wanted my daughter who wasn't home, so I let the answering machine pick it up. She called them back last night and they wanted some sort of claim number which she didn't have. Scam wanting personal information 😕 Reported the number to United Health.
- Caller: Who knows?
- Louie replies to Louie| 1 replyI called the number on the back of my UHC card and they confirmed that that number that called was Optum (sp?) who manages claim benefits and rx info for UHC. UHC called the number for me while I was on hold and then transferred me. So, United Healthcare said it as legit. Worked out for me.
I do say it's weird that googling this number only comes up with scam reports and claims. That's weird. - JoeThomasGot the Robo-call from 888-200-1118, and it left a message to call back with an 8-digit case number.
this is legitimate. I called UHC and they investigated and said it was a real call. I had a couple of claims and they wanted to verify that they were legitimate, so they were calling to get more info about my 2 doctor office visits.- Caller: UHC/OptumRx
- BHI would suggest you all call the number on the back of your card and give them the dial number left in the message. It is a company hired by United to verify a health claim is not a third-party responsibility. If you're uncomfortable providing information over the phone once you get to the verifier, you can request they send you a written form to complete and send back. If you ignore this they will deny payment of that and possibly subsequent claims. If you go to your online account and look at your claims a lot of times it will have the Note pending next to it.
I have chronic back problems and get these on a regular basis.- Caller: United Health
- JenI called united health care from the back of my card and gave them the file number the caller left. United health care said no such file number, scam!'
- SteffenIt was a legitimate call from Optus who handles claims for United HC. I didn't volunteer any personal info. They told me that there were several claims they need to make sure are not work related. Since they told me the exact diagnosis and dates I knew it was legitimate. They wanted to know the nature of my doctor's visits and they were ok with them.
- Caller: Optus
- SteveLegit call. This service handles and processes claims for united healthcare. Have been called twice with legit claims that were awaiting processing. Claims were processed shortly thereafter.
- SteveThis is a legitimate number for United Healhcare, used to collect additional information about claims.
- Caller: United Healthcare
- LalaI think it's a legit call, but their system SUX!!!! After getting over 100+ yes over 100 calls, several a day going back years, regarding request for insurance that I did not send, I was very skeptical. They asked for me to verify information, when I asked them what were the dates of service they were calling about. Their response was we can't verify that until you verify our info. My response was 'I can't verify your info until someone verifies mine'. Give me a number and I'll call you back.
- Caller: Optum??
- Nicholas| 1 replyIt's not a scam. It's a legit call from OptumRx who processes claims for United Healthcare. They just ask a series of questions regarding your recent medical visits.
- Caller: OptumRx/UHC
- WallyOk caller for united healt
- dkWhen I called this number, its offering me advertisement and going through one after another offers and no reference to any company. Is it hacked number, certainly fake number and United is not there.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- PGSame as others. Seems sketchy but going through UHC they confirmed it was legitimate. They were trying to determine if a claim was related to an accident or injury in which case other insurance might be involved and need coordination with.
- Caller: Optum representing UHC.
- Addie replies to Drake| 1 replyI got this exact call but when it went to connect me to an "Optum representative," it rang and then no one picked up. I called the number on my card for UHC and they knew nothing about it. Then I also called OptumRX twice and they could not identify the phone number and no claims to discuss with me. When I called the number itself back, it says it's OptumRX but it's a different number from the one on my card. Basically, no one could confirm that it's legit, so I won't answer the phone if they call back.
- Addie replies to AddieUpdate: They called again today and I talked to a person. I wouldn't give any of my info, but she was very nice and said that UHC should be very aware of them because they explore claims on behalf of UHC. So I called UHC again (third time in two days), and this time the rep checked with her manager and said that yes this is a legit call. UHC can't see the claim yet (I had an ER visit in the past couple of weeks), but Optum (not to be confused with OptumRX) is a company that calls about accident claims to see if it qualifies for worker's comp. I told the UHC rep that Optum's role and mode of calling needs to be made clear to other UHC reps so that people can confirm that this is not a scam. Anyway, because I wouldn't give info to the Optum rep, she agreed to send me a questionnaire in the mail that I could verify with UHC. I did not give her my address, just asked her to use the one they had on file.
- Addie replies to NancyHappened to me too, but after the UHC rep asked her manager, she confirmed that UHC can't see a really recent claim on their side for 2-3 weeks, but Optum can see the claim when it is pending and calls to explore the claim first.
