- Daich replies to AnneI called UHC. They said that: 1. They don't have robot calls; 2. They don't have 3rd party verification; 3. If they needed such information, they would use the mail. SCAM!
- PamAfter I responded to the phone call I begin to worry that it might be a scam and looked it up in about 50% of the responses seem like a scam so I did UHC. They confirmed that Optum is a subsidiary and does offer both products and checks on accidents for them. He also said they were Required to follow hippa guidelines To confirm identity when speaking on the phone, which would include birthdate and address, but never full Social Security number or any financial information. I told him that their process contacting people was really bad and mimicked scammers

- berterJust give them the incorrect address and date of birth and see what they have to tell you! They will verify that it wasn't a car accident that's all. If you give them the incorrect info they wont say anything because they don't have it LOL

- JThis is legitimate. Optum does third party review for certain claims for UHC. In this case, they needed to determine if a third party or other insurance was responsible for an er visit for a family member. 5 minute call and claims forwarded to UHC for processing per plan benefits.

- WAY2CAUTIOUS replies to David Boskey| 1 reply7/15/2021: Please note I received the same call and the first thing they asked was for DOB and Address. I hung up called UH and they called Optum and verified the call. Then stayed on the line as they transferred me to Optum for verification that a recent claim was not accident related.
- Kat* replies to WAY2CAUTIOUSPlease note you are replying to a post from 3 years ago. Of course, why you even looked up this phone number is beyond me since there's no logical reason for you to do so if UH & Optum "verified the call". Perhaps your username should be WAY2SHILLISH
- Achy breaky bodyRobot ask if this is ( my name ). 2 seconds of silence and then they hang up. I'll call and ask UHC about it. Personally, all the replies on here saying UHC confirmed the number was good and they transferred the call, could be the scammers, trying to gain our confidence.

- RCThis must be a scam as I DO NOT have united healthcare nor have I ever had United Healthcare they wanted my social security number and date of birth to verify I told them I was reporting them as I never had United Healthcare and they hung up. I recommend you NEVER give info to random numbers that call you. Hang up and call your healthcare company yourself to verify if they need info otherwise you may be giving a scam artist all the info they need to sell your identify to thieves

- API just got a call from this number, and when I called it, I get a got a recording asking for a claim number. I don’t have a claim number, so I called United Health Care, after checking their system I was told that they didn’t call me. There was no record of the call in their system. I think it’s a scam.

- ANOTHER1Extra scam. Confirmed by calling United directly and they didn't need any information from me regarding the "file #" the voicemail left. The voicemail was from 8882001118, knew my name, gave me a file number and told me to call back at 8668028560 which is a phone number reported as legit (like many of these claims). Again, I called my provider directly and they didn't have any follow-up questions for me. I deleted the voicemail and took no action.

- RyanIt’s a legitimate phone number. I called United Healthcare on the back of my insurance card, they connected me with Optum. There was a little confusion but got connected with a lead representative who verified the phone number after several minutes on hold.
