Yes, it appears to be a scammer.  They got a little of your personal info making you believe that they are legit,  But, then they draw you in and ask more more personnal info to verify.  Why don't they provide personal info about you and then you verify?  Think about it.  They could just snail mail you info.  Also, don't go to their fake website.  It is dangerous.

I really hope you read the thread carefully. I was tracking this thread back in '17 & '18 and I would be very careful about calls from this number.
I am skeptical of "Glenow"s posts and statements.  Phishing Scam?  Medical Billing scam?  I am not sure, but somethings said make me uneasy.  Maybe best to back check with UHC to be certain.

I received the same call and I went through United Healthcare directly and ask them to help me verify if it was real. They call the number and yes it is real it's a subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare the helps verify claims. These were in regards to our Chiropractic claims and they wanted to make sure that they weren't due to an injury or accident. This IS a legitimate number this IS for United Healthcare/Optum it IS SAFE to call them back

P.S. I had called the number on the back of my insurance card and talk to a representative. And then United Healthcare called the number for me spoke with them verified it and then patched me through with them. You can do it that way if you feel better about it

Totally SPAM.  Called the UHC number on my member card and just like the others here, the operator could not find any notes on my account that UHC tried to call me.  She also did not find anything with the "case number" this spammer gave me.  The operator also took down the phone number I was called from (twice) and logged it for reference.

I got the same call and then called UCH.  They have NO record of calling me and told me NOT TO SHARE anything or call this number back.

I called the number on the back of my card and the rep confirmed that it was a legit call. They wanted to tell me about benefits I can get for free this year. So, even though it was a automated voice call it was all good.

That is what everyone should also do and not rely on someone else's call being legitimate to verify theirs was too.
Health Insurance scammers spoof these numbers to trick a victim into giving up their personal information, then either run up bogus service charges to the account or impersonate the victim's identification and use it for their own health coverage or for prescription medicines.

Voice mail saying they needed additional information about a United HealthCare case for my husband, left a case number. Sounded fake so I called the United HealthCare number on the back of my card.  They didn't make the call and had no reference for the case number.  SCAM!!

UHC didnt have a record of the call made because they didnt call. OPTUM is a separate company that handles their (UHC and other insurances) claims that deal with auto accidents/work comp accidents/property accident ts/etc. Pretty much anytime someone else should be paying your medical bills instead of your insurance...Optum is used. Next time call UHC and just say you got a call from Optum. They will transfer you.

Per the fact that the caller ID simply said "Toll Free Call" and the recording sounded sketchy, I did not call these people back. However, after repeated calls, I called UHC via the number on the back of the insurance card, and explained my reluctance in answering the other calls. The call-taker confirmed they have a subsidiary that verifies claims for certain things (like back injuries) are not a result of an auto accident or an accident at work. She was able to contact the other company on my behalf and conference us so they could speak with me.

I think it is a real call from insurance company, related to recent visit to family doctor, if it is not a real, that is my worry, since they to too much detailed info about us.

Funny.  I called them and they said it was a scam and not to call it.
