I too have found the same unauthorized charges from HBS and, as others, after giving my card number to Equifax.   Five days before I had a charge from ELECTRONIC BUSINESS RE 4129270410 PA.  Has anyone else seen this charge?  I am interested in a class action to punish Equifax for not guarding my information more closely.

I just got the same charge and I have ordered from Equifax recently and I also have a Lycos charge that goes on here.  I am now going to have to change my account too.  I work at the bank that this happened with, but I just had my Citibank number stolen too and had a 1098.00 from dishnetwork charge on my card there and I'm still fighting to get that fixed.

My bank debit card was charged $9.40 on 12/2/07 by HBS. Called the 888# and got the "unable to answer your call" message. Left my name and phone number, but received no reply. Contacted my bank on 12/3/07 about the situation but did not change card numbers due to first of month automatic bill payments. My account was credited back the $9.40 by HBS on 12/6/07. Has anyone else had a similar experience in regards to money being returned? Does anyone have a list of class action litigation I can add my name to?

Just put a posting in regards to HBS charging my debit card on 12/2/07 for $9.40 and returning same amount to account on 12/6/07. Forgot to mention that this is the same card# that is used to make monthly payments to Eqifax for credit monitoring. Once again, does anyone have a list of class action litigation I can add my name to in regards to this situation?

I don't have list of class action, but I have used Equifax too, on one time payments as well.  It might be them.  But I got the Certegy letter too and use Lycos, so it could be any of those.  Have you cancelled the card?  I cancelled mine the minute I got the charge.  I'm lucky though, I am in management at the bank that I have the card with, so it was pretty quick and easy for me.

so i'm wondering, after reading that bob had his card credited back a few days later, if these guys are expecting us cancel our cards so they aren't able to credit the money back.  then they can claim that they made a mistake and tried to credit the card but it had been cancelled. i still can't figure where they got my account.

After reading through all the postings, it looks like "Certegy" is the common denominator as they are a clearing house for a multitude of credit/debit electronic banking transactions.
Does anyone know to what extent Certegy is involved in the processing of Equifax's electronic payments received? There is some serious corporate history between these two companies.  
Posting on 3/12/07 from Kerry gives some insight. If it was a high-level corporate scam, the total dollar amount that they banked from unrefundable charges (closed accounts) may be astounding.  Just the interest accrued from, potentially, millions of unrefundable charges while the banking and legal system sorted the mess out would be a staggering amount of money.
Even though the amount charged to my account was refunded a few days later, CLASS ACTION LITIGATION needs to be done regarding this situation, as well as some very lengthy prison terms for those involved.
Please post any media reports, insider information or legal actions being initiated.

Update in regards to Certegy class action lawsuits.
Regarding theft of credit information by a Certegy employee, which was announced by a letter from Certegy to potential victims. Check www.girardgibbs.com, California lawfirm starting class action suit.
Still have not found anything in regards to $9.40 HBS fraudulant charges.

I recieved a charge of $4.95 on my bank account with description POS Withdrawal ELECTRONIC 34 GRANT AVENUE STE 2F 4129270410. You call that number it says to email.

I recieved the same 9.40 charge from HBS yesterday. I went to my bank cancelled my card sign an aphadavid or however you spell it but anyways I also wrote a statement. The bank said they would investigate but now I have to wait for a new card and a refund. 7-10 business day and go figure right at christmas when I need it most.

I too have Equifax and have an unauthorized charge from HBS for $9.40.  I just cancelled my card number and my Equifax subscription.

Same here, charge for $9.45 charged on Thanksgiving Day, these scammers don't take a day off!

This is a real pain since I discovered it Dec 1. Reported to bank and they are reissuing card. I've been without my credit card for almost 2 weeks right when I need to do all my online Christmas shopping!

I too used Equifax in the past.

The same thing happened to me exactly. How do these people get our bank card #. I sure hope they catch the people. It is obviously a fraud. It is only $9.40 but I am very angry about this especially if someone is selling our credit or debit card #s to someone.

I have a chase account and was charged 9.45 from this HBS Carlsbad thing.  It is actually in pending form now so the bank can do anything.  I did realize that they charged it to an old card I used to have and thought to have canceled.  I asked the bank to completely withdraw that card from my account, luckily I still have my newer debit card to use.  [***], I will be disputing once the charge is complete.  I haven't checked my credit yet, but hopefully it did not get hit.

Apparently that phone number is an advertizing agency!  Did anyone answer the phone and have an automated call saying your credit card interest rate was going to increase and press 1 or 9 to speak to someone, then the line is dropped!!!  I have herd of similar scams that once you press the number they like charge you at peak rate!!! BUT how do they know my credit card number!!!!!!!??????

I also got one of these charges 12/27/07.  I purchased a online credit report from Equafax and suspect they are to blame. I had the card canceled.

My credit is also charged for $9.40 recently by HBS.  I called the number 888-218-5608 and no one takes the call.  These guys deserve to be shot!
