I just noticed the same thing from 5/19 on my debit card for $9.45, but i've never used Equifax

This just happened to on 06 JUN 08. $9.40 to HBS 888-215-5608 CA. When you call they say your phone call can not be taken. Also I received a charge for $4.91 to STARCATALOG LLC 678-4363075 GA the day before. When I called that number it was a lady that you could barely understand. Someone before said somethings about Equifax, well I've never dealt with them, but I've been disappointed in AOL. I had internet through them and they would send information to my parents PO Box that lived over 200 miles from me, and I didn't even know my parents PO Box. I asked them about it, and they said they worked with a third party company. I hate these people that like to share all of our information.

How do we report them?

Had a charge for $9.40 on my VISA statement: HBS 888-218-5608 Carlsbad CA; that I did not make.  Call your credit card company and have your account changed. Call TransUnion, etc., any one to have a fraud alert put on your accounts.  It is free.  When I called TransUnion, they said there has been a breach in their security system.

I just got the same 9.40 charge from HBS and the same message all of you received. It was on a corporate card which was in an envelope with our finance person as I was out on medical leave and had only just returned. Scary.  Will report it.

This showed up as a charge for $9.45.  It's a business card and kept in the office at all times.  Did not get Equifax credit reporting like some of the others.

Called our bank and it got reversed, they didn't issue new account since cards just expired anyway.  Thank goodness for this site or I would not have known it was a scam.

Same situation as the 214 number, I get a call and don't answer becuase I don't know the area code. I call back and gete noise. I wonder if these people are getting out numbers from credit card companies or telemarketers. I may have to call Dateline!

They hit my debit card on May 19 for $9.45.  Left msg on strange answering machine that says they can't take my call.  Boy this makes me angry.  No other activity since than so will keep watch.   HBS 8882185608 Carlsbad, CA

this is a great site.  I thought this was some charge I had done and forgotten about and sometimes the way things show up on statements is so different than the company name.  So now I wait for my new card.  The only thing that sux is that I have dispute the $9.40 separately with a diff. dept. during M-F business hours.

They have been calling me for a month 4 times a day. How do you get them to stop?

My message from this # was automated from WellStar reminding me to pay a bill I already paid..

they call me and I hang up, apparently they must not want anything too important or a real person would be on the other end instead of a recording.

no call, but a random debit charge of $4.91 to my checking account.  the company is starcatalog llc.

I got a charge from STARCATALOG LLC as well. This is about the only site that shows up from them on the internet. The answering machine sounds just like the one I had to call when I got a fradualnt charge from Wisee Goods a few months ago - also for $4.91. My credit card company (love USAA) said they are doing a charge back - they'll credit my account but also reverse the charge from the merchant. They said that will make it less likely that the company will try to charge my credit card again...

I know this thread is about the HBS scam, but I just thought I'd mention that I got the charge from STARCATALOG LLC 678-4363075 GA as well, since this is the only site on the web where any mention of that company/phone number comes up. BOA handled the charge back and gave me a new card with no trouble, but they didn't seem particularly concerned to find out where this came from. Grrr....

I just got ripped off by these guys as well for $9.40.  Keeo a close eye on your accounts!

No call but charged $4.91 from Starcatalog LLC

Star Catalog LLC did an unaurthorized charge to my credit card $4.91. I called the number 678-436-3075 but got a recording I couldn't understand. My bank will take care of it but I also notified the Georgia attorney general. Reverse look up also shows a Lakeside, CA address.
